Today‘s #weirdwords choice could make you hungry, or make you feel ill, depending on how you feel about peas 🫛😂 #weirdwordwednesday

CatLass007 Great word! I hate canned peas but I love snow peas. 1mo

CatLass007 Good morning! 1mo
CBee @CatLass007 good morning! I grew up on canned peas but once I tried fresh, I never wanted canned again! Same with asparagus! 1mo
CatLass007 My Mom used to tell a story that I don‘t remember happening but it sounds like me. When I was in daycare we couldn‘t get up from the lunch table until we cleaned our plates. When Mom came to pick me up after she got off work, I was still sitting at the table eating my peas. With. My. Knife. One. Pea. At. A. Time.🤣 1mo
Bookwormjillk These are fresh in my garden now and my daughter can‘t get enough. I‘ll have to let her know. 1mo
TheSpineView Thanks for the tag! BTW, I love snow 🫛 💚 1mo
TheBookHippie I love sugar snap peas!!! Yummmm. 1mo
Amiable I like snow peas, but my tongue is completely and utterly unable to pronounce French words! 😄 1mo
dabbe @Amiable Try this: mahnge-TOO (don't mind if I do!) 1mo
dabbe The only way I can eat frozen or canned peas is in a salad with lots of dressing. 🤣 1mo
willaful @Bookwormjillk I grow them too and can't wait. I eat them raw! 1mo
BookmarkTavern Yum! I love sugar peas! 1mo
CBee @CatLass007 wow, that is some serious dedication to peas 😂😂 1mo
CBee @Amiable ha! I do okay. My husband says I pronounce German fairly well which is a major feat 😂 1mo
CBee @dabbe perfect 🤩 1mo
Amiable @CBee German is way easier for me — my husband jokes that I inherited the “German gargle” from my ancestors because I can pronounce those harsh sounds much better than the French ones! 😄 1mo
CatLass007 More like serious dedication to no peas.😝😂😂 1mo
CBee @Amiable ha! The German gargle 😂😂 I‘ll have to tell hubby this 1mo
CBee @CatLass007 true. I think that was what I meant actually 😂🤪 1mo
CatLass007 I figured. It‘s weird. I like split pea soup. But it has flavor and canned peas just don‘t. 1mo

A Ghanaian concept, the word is expanded into the proverb “se wo were fi na wosankofa a yenkyi.”

Sankofa is the understanding that only by knowing your (personal, cultural, national) history can you know your current self, and know how to become better.

The concept feels particularly relevant right now.

#WeirdWordWednesday #WeirdWords

shortsarahrose I‘ve heard this used in meditation practices before. Like you pick something you want to get out of your practice as a sankofa, say it a few times, and then let it go. 2mo
CBee I always love the words you post! 2mo

Stumbled upon this word in my last read - The Devil and Mrs. Davenport (great book). I didn‘t know there was a specific word for speaking in tongues, but I mean, apparently there is a word for everything 😂🙌🏻 #weirdwords #weirdwordwednesday

Deblovestoread Oooo, I like that word! Thanks for the tag! 2mo
CatLass007 I think I‘ve heard this one before. Maybe on an episode of House? Still, great to have all the extra info. 2mo

Nope, it‘s not a type of multivitamin 😂 Just a super cool musical instrument that is apparently quite hard to master. Links: https://youtu.be/-QgTF8p-284?si=yBQCF2IBXR-Z3Tq6

Deblovestoread Makes me think of a Big Bang episode. That‘s where I learned about them. 😀 3mo
Bookwomble One of my favourite bands, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion use a theremin on their earlier albums. And the mighty Portishead have been known to dabble! 3mo
AlaMich A theremin also featured in Severance in this last season. The actor learned to play for the role 3mo
dabbe How effin cool is this? 🤩🎶🤩 3mo
CBee @Bookwomble oh, I love Portishead. A theramin has such an eerie sound and them using it makes perfect sense 👏🏻 3mo
CBee @AlaMich I read about that! I haven‘t watched Severance but all I hear are good things! 3mo
CBee @BookmarkTavern wow! How‘d that go? I‘m very musical but it looks so daunting! 3mo
BookmarkTavern She loved it! It was a challenge and that‘s what drew her to it! 3mo
Amiable @Deblovestoread Ha ha, me too! I saw this and immediately thought of Sheldon Cooper. 😄 3mo
CBee @BookmarkTavern incredible 👏🏻👏🏻 3mo
