Anyone who loves animals should read this. This book features the seven-week-long tale of Guard Dog‘s unchaining and adoption, an illustrated history of Guard Dog (written by Patrick McDonnell), real-life rescue stories, and empowering information from voices in the animal welfare community. One of only TWO 5-star reads for me this year. (the other was LES MISERABLES). From a comic book to an epic! 🤣

More books for tiny tots!

My nephews, 2 & 4, are getting (mostly) bug books. If I can‘t fully conquer my own fear, I can at least inoculate the next generation. 😅

Books are being paired with some Lakeshore Learning toys, including an updated version of one of those old school viewmasters! They can click between 35 different photos of insects and spiders. 🕷️🐛🦋

Oliver says, “Happy Friday!” We made it through another week, an interesting one. Hopefully the next few weeks can only become more enlightening. He also says, “bark, bark…which means feed me or be a good person & don‘t defend people who do bad things.”

Not new, but new to me.

Since it‘s been another long week & it being Nobel Prize week. I thought I‘d share some cute puppy photos. Oliver is now 20 pounds & growing quick. He has his good moments: sleeps in his crate thru the night, lets us know that he has to go out. The other exhausting moments: he‘s in full teething mode, he tries to eat everything off the ground when he outside (mulch, rocks, flowers, dead worms, dead baby snakes, leaves). Students can make a timeline of what they do throughout the day or talk about favorite family pets. The classroom can vote on whether they like dogs, cats, or another pet the most and engage in mathematical conversations about graphing their opinions.

Picturebook. This book is composed in a unique way to show the individual experiences behind Hondo and Fabian throughout their days. The book has separate images for Hondo and Fabian where they are apart and when they come back together, the images are merged to show the two of them together once more to share their time in the evening.
