I thoroughly enjoyed this charming modern version of a Georgette Heyer style regency romance. It was just the light, frothy fun I‘ve been needing lately. #Romantsy

While I don‘t think I got all of it, or even most of it, this was a book worth reading. Coates drops a lot of names - writers, poets, musicians - and even looking into a smattering of them blew up my TBR. I found the thread hard to follow at times, as his reflections meandered. Not the best book I‘ve read, but a good one. #52Books23 #typographiccover #butIforgotapicture
This is my first book by this author. It was a good coming of age story with a quirky cast of characters. I think I‘ll read more from Wilson.

Really enjoyed this, although it‘s nothing like as quirky / weird as Nothing to See Here. I loved Frankie and found a lot to empathise with, growing up feeling like you don‘t fit in anywhere. I also liked the portrayal of how their seemingly innocent art project could grow into a national obsession; it felt really true to life.
Thanks so much for sending it to me Barbara! 😘

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I thought I enjoyed sleep. Why do I read this stuff?! Curiosity? Is my brain broken? After reading his daughter‘s memoir, it felt natural to read about Dennis Rader‘s ultimate takedown. That, of course, includes the painful details of his crimes. I laughed as this book highlighted how truly stupid he was right before being caught. Technological advances will get your ass! May he rot in prison until unusually old. Death would be a respite.
After piano virtuoso Glenn Gould dies, the unscrupulous narrator (alter ego of the author) and their friend Wertheimer are free to blame him for the fact they haven‘t become piano geniuses themselves.
After Wertheimers suicide, Bernhard as usual doesn‘t hold back. Again he pours out tons of criticism about Austrian society, and he mocks and taunts both of his friends with demonic pleasure. It is a pleasure to follow his linguistic brain.
Thanks for sending me this book @BarbaraBB I really enjoyed it ♥️Kevin Wilson has such a unique mind and creative voice. A coming of age story that touches upon art, friendship, impressions and lasting memories. I wish this book would have been included on the #ToB23 shortlist😁‼️‼️‼️‼️
