This was just ok for me. I thought the multi-cast audio was good, the characters worth rooting for, and the concept of the reading list fun. But for a book about the power of books and libraries, there were some inaccuracies about libraries that, as someone who previously worked in a public library, annoyed me (not everyone working at a library is a librarian! I get the non-library worker characters not knowing that, but even the library workers…

I'm starting Dewey's 24-Hour #Readathon about 20 minutes late, but I had to make tea!

1. I don‘t actually remember a time when I didn‘t consider myself a bibliophile 🤷🏻‍♀️despite my resolution to try an read the books I have accumulated already before I buy more I did in fact buy 2 at Costco today and order 6 from Book Outlet on the weekend 😬🤫🤭 2. I loved The Reading List. I‘d read every book on the list (and loved them) except A Suitable Boy which I bought to read afterwards. It‘s an amazing feat of storytelling

This was a lovely book about the power of reading. The two main characters are going through some things, but they discover the magic of reading fiction and the way it can help change perspective and allow for an escape. There is also a fair bit to unpack about grief as well.

"I guess books say different things to different people." This quote perfectly encapsulates the theme of the book. It is a beautiful ode to the power of books during formative moments in our lives. I loved this book...so much so I promptly recommended it to multiple friends.

An unlikely friendship over books 😍I was drawn to this book by the cover and the title I must admit.Once I started reading it I was swept up into this delightful story about the importance of reading and how it can bring people together and have such an amazing impact on their lives.It was everything I hoped it would be and so much more. Sweet,poignant,touching,inspiring....A hug in a book that will stay with you long after the final page.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

September was not great except for the decision to DNF Creation Lake. I got to 15% and couldn‘t convince myself to pick it back up.

I think the universe really wants me to read Death by Beach Read and Prince of Time but I want to read Lydia Bennet, Witch and Premeditated Myrtle 🤷🏻‍♀️

This book was ok. My book club chose to read it but it had been on my tbr list for a while. It was a good story but it just didn‘t pull me in like I want a book to do. It was pretty much the consensus of my book club. We really didn‘t seem to have much to discuss about it.

After a drizzly walk around the farmers‘ market and quick stroll through the Friends of the Library book sale, time to enjoy a chai and an egg and cheese biscuit with my book 📖

It‘s a book about books, reading and libraries.
Sad at times, at times boring.
The story dragged on, was predictable... The pacing, the ending, writing style - I didn't enjoy... But the premise is amazing.

“Their conversation went back and forth like that for a little while, until Aleisha gave in. This lady wasn‘t taking no for an answer. She checked her watch. Her mind flew to Aidan and Leilah at home- she still had some time, but would Aidan need her much before he went to work? If she stayed for an hour, she‘d make it home in plenty of time, she reasoned.”

“Mukesh didn‘t want to hear any more. He made his way into the lift, and before he knew it, he was back on the street, back on the train, and, eventually, back home.”

A little treat (cafe au lait and breakfast sandwich) after my bone density scan and before going to work

“Leilah kissed Aleisha gently on her face and wandered upstairs without looking back. The book was still open in Aleisha‘s hands, but she couldn‘t read the words any longer. The plastic cover was hot and soft under her fingertips. She wanted to remember this moment, the warmth of it, and how a terrifyingly unpredictable tiger and a boy could create this magic beyond the pages.”

A very imaginative novel. Kindness, friendship, hope, and the love of books all come together in this heartwarming and a bit sad story.

This was a random selection from my local library. I loved this story between two completely different individuals: Aleisha and Mr P. Both going through challenging times, a mentally ill mother and grief, but they connected through a series of books from a mystery list.

This is genuinely a lovely story and as a result, I reserved three books from the "reading list" at my oval library. I even recommended this to my librarian.

This book started off slow for me and I felt there were too many random characters throughout. BUT that said, it was really heartwarming and sweet too. My family read this together as a mark up book, and I loved seeing my parents‘ comments written throughout! It was so cute to see their reactions to the story. 💗💗

A couple of peeps have recommended this book to me. I decided to listen to it since it‘s not the type of book I tend to gravitate to. I enjoyed the characters, and theme of new friendships and the idea that it takes a village. Seeing how the books on the booklist affected each reader in a different way was well done. I‘ve read all of the books on the list except A Suitable Boy, so I‘ll have to read that one at some point.

Fourth #auldlangspine title which I finished the end of last week.

This book was so good! I was crying and laughing and generally feeling all the feels with the characters through this one. It is about the power of reading to bring people together and to help heal. I loved all the characters here and the friendships they formed along the way. I think anyone who loves to read will love this book.

Warm and fuzzy novel set in the UK mostly in a small library and homes. It‘s a book about the power of books to bring people together and to help heal from grief. Just lovely!

I‘ve finished all my library books so thought I‘d read an ebook for a change.

I really loved this, especially as an audiobook. I loved the idea of your community/library being a place for everyone. There are a lot of big topics brought up throughout the story: mental illness, aging, loss of a spouse, racism, loneliness. It is all woven together so beautifully. Now I need to read the books on the list. #bookspin book

Kinda like if Phaedra Patrick and Beth O‘Leary teamed up - heartwarming & gut punching all in one book.

Book 10 for #14books14weeks2023 (and I did get it finished before the end of the 14 weeks. This might be the best I‘ve ever done!)

This book was beautiful. I loved the characters, all of their depths, secrets and feelings. Adams did a great job capturing who they were, all of their emotions, struggles and journeys. This adventure couldn‘t be more relatable. I loved everything about this book. Plus, I hadn‘t read all the books on the list, so I added them to my TBR. This book is proof that books can have a profound impact on your life.

All housework done got up at 6.30. Dryer on which like the calming white noise sound , everyone gone school and work. Now time to read with brew and kindle before go library after to pick up my 5 books for my holidays at weekend. Nice and chilled and only on 4 and half hours sleep to.

I loved the premise of “The Reading List”, and it was simultaneously heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. I loved the concept of books bringing people together and people discovering their love of reading. This was a cozy read that also broke my heart at times, however it was well worth it.

This book is actually amazing. I was thinking it was a book about how powerful books can be but it's so much more than that!

I was literally in tears at the end, probably the first book that's ever made me cry, I lost my nan 6 months ago so I relate to the main character Mukesh a lot and maybe books really do come to you at the right time.

I listened to this one on audiobook (which was fantastic) for my library book club. It is lovely. A true testament to the power of books and the communities that libraries provide.

Another book club read. Sadly I didn‘t love it. There are some lovely moments and characters but it was just a bit too slow going for me
