I have had A Month™️ but I finally managed to get sat down long enough to get March‘s #BookSpin together!
That‘s a wrap on #WinterGames! Have a pic of our 2 year old Pyrenees/husky mix as I‘m typing with one hand while stirring caramels 😂. I didn‘t get to do much the last couple weeks as my aunt and grandma flew in for the holidays but I didn‘t manage 6,240 points for the second half with a grand total of 16,755 points! Thank you to my amazing teammates on #TeamXmasChaCha and to our fearless leader @StayCurious for being an amazing team lead!!
Here are some of the boxes for the advent calendar I created for my son this year! He‘s hardcore into geography and especially world flags right now so I bought 24 different flags for him and wrapped each one up. He then unwraps one every morning. Some he‘s opened include Wales, Canada, Czech Republic, Australia…#teamxmaschacha #wintergames
The boy child (really my only child but 🤷🏻♀️) is at orchestra rehearsal for their big “Christmas” concert next week so grabbing a hard cider, a personal cast iron skillet cookie, and some pages at a local bar while I wait! I say “Christmas” because the director at the strings school he takes lessons from decided to do music from the 8th century up until Bach for their winter concert this year instead of Christmas music. #teamxmaschacha
Talk about leaving it to the last but I FINALLY nailed down my #WinterGames TBR! #TeamXmasChaCha @StayCurious
1. Both? I really only like Anderson-Erickson Dairy‘s egg nog but I can‘t get that here in Michigan.
2. Christmas Day with the exception of a book exchange that my aunt, grandma, and I do and then my son gets a box that has his matching pjs, a book, and a dvd in it.
3. A star (though I grew up with an angel)
4. Prime rib!!
5. Stay home. My husband usually works Christmas so we stay close to home for him
#xmaschacha @StayCurious
Hello #skeletoncrew! Sorry I‘ve been MIA on Litsy this month! My mom had a pretty major health scare (she‘s fine!) which sucked up all my energy so I haven‘t been posting. But I‘ve been reading which has been the only thing keeping me from completely losing it honestly lol.
My second read of #hauntedshelf has some #candles on the cover for the book scavenger hunt!! #skeletoncrew
1. I like hot apple cider (with whiskey or not), pumpkin spice chai, and cranberry Moscow mules! For food, popcorn with the ghoul mix m&ms or roasted pumpkin seeds.
2. Hocus Pocus! Or Scream of course.
3. Reading ALL the books!!
#skeletoncrew #hauntedshelf
Hard cider flight at my son‘s online school welcome back field trip at a cider mill! I‘m going to enjoy and read my book while my menfolk hit up the corn maze
Behold! My wildly and totally out of the realm of any possibility of actually reading all of these TBR for #hauntedshelf! And these are just what I already own/have checked out. I have a separate list of reads I still need to get from the library 😅. But, hey, I‘m a mood reader and a girl has gots to have choices! #skeletoncrew
Spent my Saturday getting all my Halloween & fall decor out, including this new acquisition! His name is Stu because he‘s my favorite Ghost Face (the pumpkin is named Billy of course). Now settling down to put together a list of books I want to check out from the library next month for #hauntedshelf and team #skeletoncrew!
Love it when the book I‘m reading subtly brings in a reference to just my favorite video game series of all time! I see you Mallory Marlowe. I see you and totally feel you 😂
Starting a new read while my son‘s in his youth fitness class at the Y. I actually started it while at his cello lesson earlier but didn‘t get a chance to snap a pic until now!
1. Usually a good hard cider. Local ones if I can. Lately it‘s been Blake‘s Peach Party! In winter spiked hot chocolate or hot apple cider spiked with an Irish whiskey.
2. Tagged! I‘m late in the game with these but this one gave me a book hangover for a good 24 hours 😂
#Two4Tuesday
1. Parks & Rec, Psych, Miss Fisher‘s Murder Mysteries, Pacific Rim, Legally Blonde, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Pitch Perfect, the newer Godzilla and Kong movies (my son‘s favorites!)
2. Clue!
3. The tagged is part of a Clue inspired series
#WondrousWednesday @Eggs
Happy 4th! Starting my afternoon starting my #seasonalcozies pick for July while grilling up some chicken breast to make chicken salad with later! Going to be a quiet day (my husband works for CBP and he worked 16 hours last night with another 16 hour shift tonight so he needs SLEEP) filled with books, grilling, some soft music, and a few drinks with my sister.
So I‘ve only seen 26 of the movies on the survey 😂
Over the 4th I always watch Independence Day, Legally Blonde 2 (makes me want a hot dog real bad), and National Treasure.
#TLT @dabbe
4th of July week reads! Am I going to get to read them all? Oh absolutely not. But I‘ll have fun making the attempt 😂
The 2000s were my time to shine 😂. My preteen/teen/young adult years! Plus I had more chances to visit my aunt for long weekends and she lived by a blockbuster and multiple theaters and my rural Iowa town had NEITHER.
My favorites on this list (which was SO HARD to narrow down to 3) are: Lord of the Rings trilogy, Mamma Mia!, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding. But shout out to Legally Blonde. It‘s not on the list but it‘s one of my comfort movies.
Happy pub day to the new Riley Sager! Cracking it at my local Irish pub while the kiddo has his first youth quartet practice (where he‘s annoyed that he‘s the only cello “mom the teen quartet is split evenly between violins and cellos this is UNFAIR”) followed by the first fiddle club practice of the summer!
Traveled over to the western side of Michigan today from for a training retreat! Enjoying downtown Grand Haven‘s social district until I can check into my hotel and head to the church holding the retreat for the welcoming dinner.
Tuesday evenings mean dropping the kiddo off at orchestra rehearsal then heading to the local Irish tavern for a cider boys hard cider and a book! Last orchestra before shifting to fiddle club for the summer (which is misleading as the fiddle club also has cellos which my cello playing child would want you all to know 😂)
At dinner with my younger sister and she has been talking about The Infernal Devices and The Mortal Instruments for seriously 20 minutes 😂
The convention center where my kidlet is taking his first state test of the year has a pretty good restaurant attached so grabbing a small bite with some good books while I wait for the next couple hours!
Lady Sherlock book: $15. 6 pack of Blake‘s Jam Session: $12. Back deck reading in beautiful weather with said book and cider: Priceless!
Grabbing a couple pages in between watching the eclipse! We‘re going to be in 98% totality here so came to a local park by the mouth of Lake Huron to watch
Salon reading! I‘m not getting anything done but my son is getting his undercut reshaved and getting the rest dyed pink.
Not book related but seeing Gaelic Storm in Kzoo tonight and they‘re PHENOMENAL
It‘s a snowy day here in Michigan‘s thumb coast so spending some time with the a new read, a heated blanket, and a (very large but yet very warm) puppy who decided she HAD to use my chair to watch the snow fall.
Enjoying a new read and a good hard cider at an Edgar Allen Poe themed coffee shop while the kiddo is at confirmation class? Heck yeah!
@Clwojick my winter games total is only 380 😩 sorry for being a terrible teammate! My son was in the hospital for a bit in December and is just now pulling fully out of being sick so I was reading and watching movies but STRUGGLING to track points/word search words.
They‘re playing the #TeamEvergreen team movie at the bar where I‘m passing time while my son is at orchestra rehearsal 😂😂 @Clwojick
Finally finished making my TBR for #wintergames that is doubling for my #castthedie list! So excited for Friday and ready to get those points for #TeamEvergreen!!
Not a lot of reading being done today (even though my book club meets tomorrow and I‘m only 2 chapter in 🙃) because ESPN is televising their first EVER regular season wrestling dual! And it‘s Iowa State vs Iowa so of course the ex college wrestler husband and I have to watch. Let‘s go Hawks!
Thanksgiving read while the hubs is at PT. He got cleared to unlock his brace today at his dr appointment so he can bend it and he was happier than a kid on Christmas about it. Honestly though, don‘t blame him at all
Making fabulous progress in this just by reading in various waiting rooms for the husband between his post op appointments and now physical therapy 😂
After a truly awful last 2 weeks of October I‘m back to posting on Litsy! Reading the new Royal Spyness while my husband is in surgery. He‘s having an ACL reconstruction and meniscus tear repaired since he tore them up this summer at some training for his job but since he‘s so used to knee pain he didn‘t think anything about it until it swelled up to grapefruit size.
My halfway points for #scarathlon are 20,475! Pic is of the decorations on top of our small bar we have in our living room made out of an old bourbon barrel. #TeamCreepinItReal @StayCurious
Watched all 6 Scream films in less than 24 hours! ‘‘Twas a true Screamathon. Totally loved them though nothing beats the original. #TeamCreepinItReal #scarathlon
I have read The Great Pumpkin to my son every year on Halloween night after trick or treating since he was born! He‘s an October baby so it started when he was only a couple weeks old (the only year we did it without trick or treating first). Can‘t believe this is our 12th year doing it. We always watch the movie after too. #sundayfunday
I‘ve been a bit in love with Steve since Ghost Hunters first aired so when I saw he had written a book I knew I had to read it! It did not disappoint! He‘s funny and his love for what he does really shines through. Super fascinating look into ghost hunting, the show, and a bit of Steve‘s background. Now time for a Ghost Hunters rewatch 😂 #31by31 #spookoween #falling4books #TeamCreepinItReal
You‘re getting a 2 book update today because BOY were the last few days full of insanity with having to take a dog to the vet, our truck‘s battery dying, plus our son‘s birthday yesterday. The Perry wasn‘t as good as others in the series but not sure why I didn‘t enjoy it as much? Probably a me thing. But the tagged? PHENOMENAL.
#scarathlon #TeamCreepinItReal #31by31 #spookoween #falling4books
First book for #scarathlon is officially completed! My first Kingfisher and I was totally enthralled! The perfect amount of horror while having some true laugh out loud moments to lighten the tension. #TeamCreepinItReal
2.5 hours for (oh boy I hope I get them all + the correct people tagged 😂) #readysetread #31by31 #spookoween #falling4books
Every year my son‘s online public school does an in person field trip to a Michigan cider mill and every year I take about 30 minutes away from the craziness to read a bit with a hard cider to decompress.
Behold! My watch list and tbr for #scarathlon. The first 13 books on the tbr are also counting for #castthedice with @PuddleJumper with A Life With Ghosts being my lucky book! #TeamCreepinItReal @StayCurious
Enjoying this gorgeous Michigan Thumb evening with a fire, a new book, and a hot cider spiked with some good whiskey.
Hoping to finish this fun read while the kidlet is getting his braces put on! Between this and the pup getting spayed the other day it‘s been A Week for us 😂.
