#6 in this series. Another bizarre murder, and the sun cult is particularly creepy.
#6 in this series. Another bizarre murder, and the sun cult is particularly creepy.
Carl Mørk gets a phone call from a colleague at Bornholm, but Carl doesn‘t have time to talk to him. Some days later, Carl, Assad and Rose learn that he committed suicide when he retired. The trio feel obliged to look into the cold case that has tormented the colleague the last 17 yrs, the death of Albertine.
I didn‘t see the twist at the end at all

I'm not sure I liked this one or not. I enjoy the camaraderie of Rose, Carl, and Assad and I am fascinated by the last 100 pages. But, I also feel some disjointness because of the underlying mysteries that recur from book to book. The 6th novel didn't mention the case where Hardy and Carl were attacked till halfway through it. And besides that one, the author adds Assad's history, Rose's complexities, and now his uncle's murder. Focus Jussi.
This cold case for Dept. Q is about a 17 yo girl, Alberte, who vanished years ago & was found dead hanging high in a tree on the Danish island of Bornholm. Det. Carl Morck & his assistants, Assad & Rose, discover a strange sun worshipping cult & a manipulator in Sweden & need to stop new murders while trying to find out who murdered Alberte. This is a true, dark historical story with twists & a surprise ending. Looking forward to the next book.

The trio is going to Bornholm because a police officer shot himself during his retirement party. He said Carl was his last hope. They start digging into this old murder; a girl was found dead in a tree, and the police officer never got to solve the case. There are many strange characters and a cult involved in this big mess. The last some pages were fantastic, and due to the cliffhanger I can't wait to read the next book. Too long. #NordicNoir

Trying to get thru this for a book club on Thursday. It‘s long. Idk if I‘ll be able to. And I‘m not really enjoying it which doesn‘t help. #jussiadlerolsen #thehanginggirl #mystery #thriller #bookclub #librarybookclub #libby #audiobook
If you are a Department Q fan, or if you just want some good Scandinavian mystery, I highly recommend Adler-Olsen, one of my favorite authors. This e-book on sale today.
I really enjoy this series.
Oh my god. I finished the 1102 minutes audiobook.
It was too long for me. Too much information that arn't important. And many open ends. Sorry this is not my favorite book from this serie.
I'm listen it for the #24b42019 #Challenge by @Andrew65 and @TheReadingMermaid
Next #audiobook during unpacking the shoppings. I love the voice of Wolfram Koch.

#top10authorrecommendation I did it! I figured out my top ten—as of today that is! Thanks @julesG ! I am tagging @Karkar and @OrangeMooseReads if you haven‘t done this yet!!
Halfway finished. I think it's up there as one of Adler-Olsen's best. And in other news: Hey Littens! September 7 challenge. Time to follow a fairly new Litten: @Tanisha_Agarwal !! Thanks friends! #smittenbylittens
The author gives the characters such realistic personalities that leave no religion unscathed. I appreciate the author's humor in having a crotchety old Danish man make this insensitive comment about Catholics: "Yes, they painted their bodies with symbols and chanted as if they were Catholics."
I finished my son's Unwanted series last night (excellent!). This is next up. I've missed the Department Q gang!
Book mail!!
During the six-day lunar new year holiday, I didn't get to read a lot due to the traveling. But I managed to finish this almost 600-page Scandinavian Crime novel and feel accomplished for myself. I like Assad and Rose in the Department Q a lot more than the protagonist, Carl. However, the gender stereotypes in the book make me roll my eyes from time to time....Nevertheless, it's a wonderful trip.
I love this series. The characters are unusual but endearing and the story always has more to it than expected. First of many books to read during recovery.
Just done with my workout. Collapsing on the couch with The Hanging Girl.
