Apparently the Hungarian edition of Girl Out of Water took a random pull-quote from my Goodreads review of this book and put it on the cover!! I'm flattered, but also so confused, lol. Anyone read Hungarian? I don't think Google Translate is cutting it 😂🤣
Laura Silverman texted me about it when she was tagged in an Instagram post. She didn't even realize the Hungarian rights were sold, and I definitely wasn't contacted, lol.
A cute modern ya. The main character deals with family obligations in conflict with what she wants. Going somewhere new opens up her world view and changes what she thinks she wants. Nothing ground breaking but readable.
Brrrrrr. It's cold out there! Curl up with a FIRE title and warm up! ❄️🔥📚
My #ManCrushMonday for #TRW2017, and forever, is Lincoln. Anise was a piece of work. The twins were a double portion of work. Lincoln takes it all in stride. He‘s super supportive, while also letting Anise put her foot in her mouth. It‘s great.
Falling behind again for #awesomeautumnbooks. I haven't seen a ton of posts about Silverman's Girl Out of Water, so posting about it for #lesserknown. This a an adorable YA contemporary debut about Anise who must leave the beaches in CA where she spends all her time surfing to go to landlocked Nebraska to help her aunt with her cousins after a serious car accident. This is a coming of age story with real issues, skateboarding, & a one-armed hunk!
For the first half of this book, I was certain my rating would be so-so. In the beginning, I found Anise mostly annoying. However, once she opens herself up to the people and places around her, the whole tone of the narrative changes. What starts as a mostly "woe is me" story becomes a touching coming of age journey.
What a truly adorable YA romance. I especially loved Anise and Lincoln. They were not brats, but fully fleshed teens with concerns outside of themselves. Such a pleasure to read. Definitely going on the "give to sister" pile.
My apologies to my beloved, @theshrinkette for not reading this way back in April when she rec'd it.
Passing the time until my friends show up.

Give Laura Silverman some love on Goodreads and Twitter, she's had a load of Nazis trolling her and giving her one star reviews.

Kansas has been having some crazy weather this summer. Lots of rain and very few super hot days. It's crazy. But I love it because I'll take 70-80 any day.
Hope to read Girl out of Water this summer. That cover gives me Kansas vibes even if it's set in Nebraska. Like seriously, the waving wheat is a Kansas thing.

If you are a fan of contemporary romances, this book is for you. It's also the perfect beach read or when you just want to have that summer feeling. I fell in love with Anise and her journey of finding herself and first love. The dialogue is so real and the story is very relatable as well. 10/10!
Omg I've made it into the acknowledgements of a book!!! Life goal realized!!!
I ordered a signed copy from a small bookstore in Georgia, and it came so nicely packaged!! So sweet and cute! #indies #FoxTaleBookShoppe
Dr. Pupper wanted me to sit and read all day so that's exactly what I did and finished this gem! I absolutely loved this book. Anise was such a cool character and I loved her family dynamic and the growing she does in this book. Definitely recommend it for fans of Sarah Dessen books.
This book is the perfect summer read! The characters are all unique and interesting, the writing is really good, and the romance feels authentic. This book centers on the importance of family, friends, and home. As a Californian forced to move to a state with no ocean, I especially related to this character and her story.
This Beatlemaniac is absolutely loving all the references to the Beatles in this book.
This touches on so many different issues young adults face in those challenging years, but it didn't really "pick one" and delve into it and that's what's I kind of wanted. But, on the other hand, maybe that's REAL teenage life.
April was a very busy month, and it's only going to get busier from here as the Summer Reading program approaches, but I managed to read 16 books! Some I really disliked but I loved most of them! I reread Simon and Everything, Everything with my teen book clubs and had some fun discussions. What was your favorite book of the month? #aprilstats #readingwrapup
Review is up. Just adding this really so I can stack the book.

There was a bit of controversy talked about on GR,with this author being trolled last year. Glad I wasn't aware when I read and wrote. #blogging #yaliterature #netgalley #review
I loved this coming of age story about a surfer girl forced to spend her last summer before college in Nebraska. She grows closer with her family, meets a new friend Lincoln, who is disabled with only one arm but can skateboard circles around her. I loved the learning experience Anise went through and there was so much emotional growth between herself, family and friends. It was also a lot of fun and a really fast read. I enjoyed all the pages!
Have you heard about Girl Out Of Water by Laura Silverman? I got an ARC last week and am going to be reading it with a few other people on Twitter and sharing thoughts & impressions using the #GOOW hashtag. If you happen to have an ARC, you should join us!

I was just granted this from #netgalley and went over to GR to add it, and discovered this author and book has already been embroiled in some controversy. I look forward to reading it.
