Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined
Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined | Stephenie Meyer
For the first time in a stand-alone paperback comes Stephenie Meyer's Life and Death, a compelling reimagining of the iconic love story that will surprise and enthrall readers. There are two sides to every story....You know Bella and Edward, now get to know Beau and Edythe. When Beaufort Swan moves to the gloomy town of Forks and meets the mysterious, alluring Edythe Cullen, his life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. With her porcelain skin, golden eyes, mesmerizing voice, and supernatural gifts, Edythe is both irresistible and enigmatic. What Beau doesn't realize is the closer he gets to her, the more he is putting himself and those around him at risk. And, it might be too late to turn back....With a foreword and afterword by Stephenie Meyer, this compelling reimagining of the iconic love story is a must-read for Twilight fans everywhere. Twilight has enraptured millions of readers since its first publication in 2005 and has become a modern classic, redefining genres within young adult literature and inspiring a phenomenon that has had readers yearning for more. The novel was a #1 New York Times bestseller, a #1 USA Today bestseller, a Time magazine Best Young Adult Book of All-Time, an NPR Best Ever Teen Novel, and a New York Times Editor's Choice. This was so much more compelling than the original story. It was definitely fascinating seeing the story from a different perspective. It felt like I was reading a new story for the first time. The ending truly took me off guard. I would definitely recommend reading this story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a bit of a mistake since I had just finished Midnight Sun. It was really repetitive to the original Twilight. The genders of a lot of the characters are switched but not all. It‘s a bit blah until you get to the end, it‘s more like an alternate ending for twilight.

No!!!! I just wasted my time on this book!!!! It is a gender swap of Twilight. I thought that Beau was a weak character and couldn't defend himself. No never again!!!!

Oh man am I back on the Twilight train this year, haha. I saw this at Target and obviously had to buy! Honestly didn‘t even know it was a thing, but I am so glad it is! I loved this spin on the whole series and kinda wish we could get all of Bella & Edward‘s story played out like this... 🙂

I loved Twilight when I got my hands on it my freshman year of high school, so I was excited when I recently found out about Life and Death. Personally, I found the ending in Life and Death much more satisfactory than the continuation that became The Twilight Saga. I definitely recommend this if you haven‘t given it a read yet. I wouldn‘t object to more authors doing rewrites for anniversary releases.

Keeping up with my theme of vampires this month. Twilight reimagined had so much scope for better and different “reimagining”. This was the same thing all over again with a few differences here and there. The major change? A gender swap! Wow 🙄
I couldn‘t see it and prefer Twilight the way it is.

One of my sisters confessed that she was secretly enjoying the new Midnight Sun book but couldn‘t bring it to work because she had an intellectual rep to maintain. I got this one from the library, since there was a long wait for the other. The author really beat the proverbially dead sparkly vampire horse here. It‘s made me question my pandemic reading choices. Nothing that takes too much brain power, escape reads. Have your book choices changed?

Part of me is so embarrassed that I bought this. 😓 But the other part of me knows I'm probably never going to stop loving Twilight and it was only $7 so who even cares? 😌 #notevensorry

Besides...I've been really craving vampires lately, and I've got to be prepared for Midnight Sun coming out in just a few weeks! 😁👿⚰💖

I started this about a month ago, and I still haven‘t finished. Maybe I‘ll try and come back to it another time, but this is kind of brutal. It makes me wonder if I would like reading the Twilight books still, now that I‘m older...

Life and Death - Stephenie Meyer
So, I liked this book pretty well. And I loved the alternate ending! But, the Beau and Edythe just didn't grab me as much as Edward and Bella did. Because of the swap, some of the scenes were down right comical - Beau riding on Edythe's back, for example. He compared himself to a Gorilla riding a gazelle lol. It was a good read for the most part. Now I have to reread Twilight and see if I can spot all the changes!

When I heard Meyer was releasing a new version of twilight a few years ago I made a bee line to the book shop to grab a copy. I wasn‘t sure how this would go, it was to be different obviously and I honestly loved the original twilight. But I truely enjoyed reading this. Loved Edythe. It‘s not for everyone but I enjoyed the new rendition.

Meh. 2.5 stars. Meyer gender swaps Bella & Edward to become Beau & Edythe to fight allegations that the book is sexist, & somehow makes the book even more sexist. I‘m not sure how that is even possible. Considering that the first 3/4 of the book is almost word for word Twilight with the names swapped, and I love me some Twilight, I don‘t know how it got so boring, but it did. The twist ending was okay, but my heart broke for my favorite, Charlie.

TheSpineView I agree! I wished that only Bella and Edward were swapped around and all the other characters had stayed the same. I also thought that Beau should have been a shy, geeky, smart guy kind of guy. 6y

Starring Duke and Missi from Daria Cohen's Vampair Series. Safe to say this was NOT the original ending of Ms. Cohen's animation 😅

Yay! Twilight reimagined! I think Meyer was right to do the original story in the gender that she chose to, but that the story totally works flipped around. It gave some interesting insights into the thoughts and backgrounds of the characters, even though strictly speaking they were different characters - they were supposed to be the opposite gender version of them.

Very interesting and enjoyable. Well done Stephenie Meyer!

I did not like this gender swap version at all. Im not sure if it was because it was young adult or seeing Beau so "weak". It just came off a little cheesy. It is cool that Stephenie Meyer would do this because its interesting to get another point of view plus the gender swap in top of it. I would not recommend.

RadicalReader @rather_be_reading makes me curious if they were to do a film adaption of this 6y
The_Heeler_Booklife I wish she came out with Midnight Sun instead of this. 😭 6y
MeesesPieces @rather_be_reading I wasn‘t happy with this version either. I mean in the long run how was Edward going to give birth to Renesme? It was interesting but definitely not something I recommend. 6y

Recent #bookmail: an order from Zulily that I completely forgot about because it‘s been so long since I placed the order. ???

Tagged book is the one I‘m most giddy about because #Twilight is my favorite series to hateread, by which I mean I hate it but also love reading it. I definitely think this book was written because those that fell in love with the story in the beginning are going to buy it regardless. I am enjoying the gender swap and how the story is the same but seems entirely different at the same time. It's holding my attention, so I will count that as a win.

Totally taking inspiration from @Jas16 's post regarding the #moneygrabber prompt. Like E.L. James, this is purely a money making enterprise by Stephanie Meyer that adds nothing new to her saga. 🙄

Jas16 Lol. Good choice. 8y
DGRachel I find this kind of thing offensive. 8y
Zelma @DGRachel my post or the book? 😳 8y

Leniverse Same with the fourth Millenium book. Or that's worse, actually. Pure money grabbing from Stieg Larsson's relatives. I'm never reading The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. 😠 8y
DGRachel @Zelma Omg! Not you. Absolutely not you!! I'm so sorry you thought that! Totally Stephanie Meyer's greed. When the anniversary of Twilight came around, I read she did the gender swap thing because she figured it would be easy and she was still mad at the betrayal of her friend who leaked chapters of a different retelling she was working on. She totally threw this together to capitalize on the anniversary. No respect for her readers. (edited) 8y
Zelma @DGRachel whew! 😆😆😆 glad i didn't offend. 😋 yup, pure greed. I remember the other retelling being leaked and the debacle around it. What a mess. This was such a waste of time a print. I hate when authors do that. 8y
Cinfhen I agree with @Leniverse and the rest of you guys! 8y
