Ein Vampir für alle Fälle
Ein Vampir für alle Fälle: Roman | Charlaine Harris
Sookie ist ja einiges gewöhnt, was übernatürlichen Ärger angeht.

It‘s October, which means I have 5 hoopla borrows (only 2 now), so I could continue my Sookie Stackhouse reread. This is book 8 in the series. You got lots of Eric, some witchy stuff, and vampire takeovers.

#31by31 - book 3 #witchathon #spookoween #littenlisten #theoctoberreadathon #pointsathon #20in4 (so behind on posts) #teammonstermash #scarathlon2022 #stabbybookclub

Last Sunday morning finishing this off! I found this book a bit disjointed, lots of different plot lines going on and seems to just be a ‘set up‘ for the next book. Still, an easy read and some entertaining sections!

This was another re-listen for me. Sometimes I just can't decide what to read, and I tend to fall back on just reading or listening to this series. It's like watching an old favorite movie I've seen a bazillion times (You've Got Mail is my go-to for that). Pure fluff.

Hey, my book matches my quilt!

Not a bad story, but there‘s SO much going on. Sookie sails from earth-shattering revelation to near-death experience and round again. Lots of action but it felt...disjointed? Abrupt? I‘m not sorry to see the tail end of Quinn #unpopularopinion

Schnoebs Is this series worth it? 4y
ravenlee @Schnoebs I really liked it when I first read it, but stalled out somewhere around book 9-10, as they were coming out. I decided to start over. I‘m less enamored this time around. It‘s good but not great, all of the relationships are pretty toxic, but they go quickly and Harris writes believable characters and funny asides. I‘d say give it a try but don‘t fall over yourself to do it. 🤷ðŸ»â€â™€ï¸ 4y
Schnoebs I‘m curious because I really liked her Midnight Texas trilogy 4y
ravenlee @Schnoebs I haven‘t read that one yet. I read An Easy Death and really liked it, but haven‘t gone on to the sequel. I liked it better than Sookie this time around. Sookie‘s good, I do think it‘s worth a try, but 13 books is a little daunting. I‘m hoping to get through the series by sometime around February. 4y

In longer series, like this one, I have found that there are books that just serve to transition to the next major arc. This is one of those books. Still, it is a fast read and is very pleasurable!

Sometimes you read a really good recap paragraph that‘s worth sharing.

I find it ironic that I was comparing In Search of a Witch‘s Soul to the Sookie Stackhouse novels and now I‘m using an informational card for it as a bookmark...to a Sookie Stackhouse novel.

This book plodded along quite nicely.
Nothing too exciting but it did tie up some loose ends quite nicely.

Not a big fan of Neil creepy fairy man!

Sookie is about to get some interesting news.....from skeletons in her grandmas closest to her own heritage. I really enjoyed this book and loved meeting Hunter.

Where are all my Charlaine Harris fans??

GripLitGrl 🙋 7y
daena Right here too! 7y
julesG Loved the series. Right up to the first but last book. And then I did not listen to my friend and had to read the last one. So, caveat - the last one should be approached with caution. 7y

wanderinglynn Loved this series & her other series. 7y
JacqMac I agree with @julesG It was a great series, until the last book. 7y
Seekingtardis I still haven‘t read the last two books but I love Sookie!! 7y
Cathy12 I listened to a lot of them and loved them. I stopped after more species were being introduced and I started feeling like it was just being dragged out for reasons other than the story line. It is hard to face the end of a series you love, so I get why an author would do that in the face of fans wanting more. But for myself, I started feeling that I was reading books I didn't love just because they were in a series. Plus, so many new series! 7y
Traci1 These books are my go-to rereads whenever I'm feeling down. They always put me in a better mood. 7y
ravenlee I lost track of where I was in the last third of the series, and that was a few years ago anyway. Looks like it's time to start over! 7y
CoffeeNBooks I read so many of her books! I enjoyed reading those so much!! 7y
EclecticBookLover I loved these! They were so much fun to read, but like many others I found the last book ato be disappointing. 7y
lyradora Has anyone read her murder mysteries? 7y
Mrs_Organized_Chaos I loved these books. I thought about reading the series again! 7y
Lisaw13 I loved her other series too 7y
Bookzombie I only read up book 7 in this series and lost interest. I loved the first four or so. I also love the Harper Connelly series. 7y
CMB I had so much fun reading this series! 7y

I'm so glad that I let 6 years pass before my first reading of this series and watching the show, because I would have been yelling "THAT'S NOT WHAT HAPPENED!" at my television every few minutes. ? Still amazed at how many characters were left out or completely changed. I *did* enjoy it as a separate entity, and I'm glad it spurred me to reread the series.

drokka One of the characters in these books is also a character in her Midnight Texas series. He's not on either show, but one of my favourite characters in her paranormal universe. 7y
PenguinInFlight @drokka I'll have to pay attention when I read them! ☺ï¸I read the first one on NetGalley forever ago, but have been trying to read books I own and not buy any. How is the Midnight, Texas show? I haven't watched it yet. 7y
drokka Because the show is on Network television it's a bit safer than the books, and they picked a couple of the storylines that are within the three books rather than doing a book at a time. So, if you prefer reading the books first, I'd say read the other two before watching the show. The character I was referring to isn't in the first Midnight Texas book, and is not a main character in the others, but, well you'll see what I mean when you get there🙂 7y
SilversReviews I think the book is always better. 😎 7y

Someone once asked, "Why don't people in books & movies ever do things like go to the bathroom?" The answer is, of course, that the minutiae of everyday life isn't usually pertinent to the plot. Harris doesn't seem to understand this.
But If you'd like to know every meal Sookie eats throughout the course of this story, maybe you'll enjoy this book, but I literally can't tell you what it's about because it's so overly detailed and unfocused.

Megabooks My pet peeve is smells. I don't need to know how everyone smells in each scene. 8y
Maggie4483 @Ebooksandcooks I noticed that too! Also, inaccurate descriptions of how things smell. 8y
CrowCAH Like the cover art; great use of negative space. 8y

Must be way outside of Fort Worth because I've never heard of it.

Does anyone else still get irrationally excited when their home town is mentioned in a book?

Megabooks Yes!! 8y

Another meal inspired by Ms. Stackhouse, described in way more detail than was really necessary to the plot.

It's okay, though. I make a pretty good lasagna. 😊
