pick#CoronaBreak Book 14. This was an easy read that I found enjoyable! The characters were a little flat and I wouldn‘t exactly call it “highbrow” writing-wise, but it was an interesting drama that kept my attention. Also, am I supposed to keep hash tagging corona break now that this thing‘s going on indefinitely? Unsure
pickWhile the writing felt a bit clumsy and awkward at places, I liked the different POV perspective used to tell the story and how each struggled with the impact of an instance of sexual harrassment and it's ramifications.
pickFrom an author whose books are light and fun, this one was was compelling and serious. A teenage girl from attends a party and a picture taken of her turns viral at her school. The boy implicated comes from a wealthy family. The way the boys family deals with her son, the school and the victim is a story rarely heard. Trusting her son‘s innocence and also respecting the girls pain, she strong, empathetic, fair. Every parent should read this book.

I rarely rate books three stars. This was more of a 3.5 but closer to 3 I would say. It started strong, I was really loving it but a little more than half way through I started losing interest. It didn‘t go the direction I was hoping it was going to go.

so-soI commend the author for tackling such timely and difficult subject matter, however I don't think it was executed as well as it could have been. The writing felt basic at best and cliche at worst. The structure also felt rambling in places where it should have been tighter, and not detailed enough in places where depth was necessary.
so-solistened to this audiobook about teen sexual harassment and suicide. It started slow, picked up, and ended flat and expected. I understand these issues are absolutely important to address, but the story feels familiar and done.
bailedReally not enjoying this so moving on.
pickI love the cover of this book, it‘s so simple and pretty. I also really enjoyed the book, and had a hard time putting it down. Each chapter was a different characters perspective, which really sucked me in because I wanted to know more. My only complaint is that it ended a little abruptly.

pickThis is quite different from Giffin's other books, dealing with a much more serious subject. If you go in expecting her usual you may be disappointed, but I found it to be really timely and thought provoking. Written well, as per usual, and I flew through it!
All of my library holds came in at once so I'm trying to knock them out 😆
pickNo pic this time - being lazy. I liked this book - it kept me reading and interested. I would give it maybe 3-4.5 stars ⭐️, mainly because I wanted more resolution. I had more questions than answers when I finished. 🤷♀️
so-soTwo stars didn‘t mean I didn‘t enjoy it!! I thought the story was very different then what she‘s wrote before. Her son, Finn is accused of sending around a racist and shocking photo. He could be kicked out of college. Nina, his mother, doesn‘t know how to react. Not a cheesy love story that I thought I was going into but after putting aside for awhile I read the second half quickly. 2/5.

As always, an Emily Giffin novel is awesome. I loved the three characters she picked to narrate the story because without giving anything away, using the mother of the boy in question to narrate was my favorite part. Definitely a must read!
panWow, I really disliked this story and where it went. Several times I wanted to bail but didn‘t since it‘s a book club choice. It‘s beach read quality with predictable a plot line that is frustrating. Rape triggers, abandonment too, beware. Light treatment of the subject is really disappointing.
panUgh, I don‘t like this story. Super predictable (I think) , and there have to be other books like don‘t excuse rape culture, and liar behavior. Ridiculous turn midway make we want to abandon this dumb story. Not finished yet but I wish I was.

bailedPutting this one down. It's about rich white dickhead entitled boys assaulting girls and posting about it on social media. I just can't handle that right now.
Definitely an interesting read. Wouldn‘t say it was one of my favorites this year, but definitely one of the morning interesting ones.
Giffin grabs your attention quickly and includes contemporary moral dilemmas but the resolution/epilogue was lacking. Then again, it's sort of like real life in that things aren't always wrapped up perfectly to everyone's satisfaction. Still, a good book.

pickThe topics in this book are on my mind this week with the Kavanaugh hearing. Sexual assault, disregard for women, male privilege. This was an quick read but one that has made my wheels spin.....as a mother to two boys, am I doing enough to ensure that they respect women and themselves? The main character in this book thought so, until she knew she hadn‘t.
"Well, I would do anything it took to protect Beau from pain. Anything."
I'm not a parent but I'm pretty sure that's not how it works when your child commits a crime...

pickI‘m catching up; was sick last week. I finished this last Saturday, & I enjoyed it. This was an arc from #NetGalley.
There were elements of mystery, women‘s lit, & mild romance, but the romance didn‘t lead where I expected it to. There was definitely a message about how choices with social media can have long lasting effects. I was able to identify with the main character as she figured out who to trust. Would definitely recommend!
