Shadow and Bone Trilogy Boxed Set: Shadow and Bone, Siege and Storm, Ruin and Rising
Shadow and Bone Trilogy Boxed Set: Shadow and Bone, Siege and Storm, Ruin and Rising | Leigh Bardugo
All three books in the New York Times-bestselling Shadow and Bone Trilogy are now available together in a beautiful paperback box set that includes a collectible poster-sized map of Leigh Bardugo's Grishaverse.Soldier. Summoner. Saint. Follow Alina Starkov through Shadow and Bone, Siege and Storm, and Ruin and Rising as she discovers her dormant powers and is swept up in a world of luxury and illusion. As Alina struggles to fit into her new life, a threat to the kingdom of Ravka grows--one that will test old alliances and challenge the very limits of magic, one that will forge a leader from a frightened girl.Praise for The Shadow and Bone Trilogy: "This is what fantasy is for." --Laini Taylor for The New York Times on Shadow and Bone"Set in a fascinating, unique world rich with detail, Shadow and Bone was unlike anything I've ever read. Alina is a clever, sympathetic character I will gladly follow into the next installment--which can't come soon enough!" --Veronica Roth, New York Times-bestselling author of Divergent, on Shadow and Bone"Filled with lush descriptions, intriguing magic, and plenty of twists, this memorable adventure offers action and intrigue mixed with an undercurrent of romance and danger." --Publishers Weekly on Shadow and Bone"A heady blend of fantasy, romance, and adventure." --Rick Riordan, #1 New York Times-bestselling author of the Percy Jackson series, on Siege and Storm"A well-drawn world, full of deceit and mythology, populated by entirely believable characters. Full of truly surprising twists and turns, beautiful imagery and a protagonist it's impossible not to root for, this is a great choice for teenage fans of George R.R. Martin and J.R.R. Tolkien." --RT Book Reviews on Shadow and Bone"If opener Shadow and Bone was a magical coming-of-age story and middle-volume Siege and Storm was a political thriller, then this third book is an epic quest . . . Every time readers may think she's written herself into a corner, Bardugo pulls off a twist that, while surprising, will keep them turning pages furiously." --Kirkus Reviews, starred review, on Ruin and Rising

Currently re-reading Shadow and Bone, read it ages ago but hadn't gotten around to getting the other two, so treated myself to the box set recently after watching (and loving) season 2 of the TV series.

#WondrousWednesday
🧝🏽‍♀️Since Season 2 of Shadow and Bone just came out, I will have to choose Alina - because I love this entire series
🫦 Nahr / Yaqoot / Almas - yes, she has 3 names in Susan Abulhawa‘s Against The Loveless World - Palestinian refugee turned prostitute turned revolutionary. Absolutely riveting. My review here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-ox1
👩🏾‍🏫Victoire from Babel because she is INSANELY brilliant.

Awesome story and an easy read. Didn‘t know anything before seeing the adaptation on Netflix. She has to save the world while also falling for two different guys, one that deserves her and one that just wants to use her. Magic vs a dark void that destroys anything in its way. The next duology is in hand already. “What is infinite? The universe and the greed of men”.

This series was amazing! I started the first book in hopes it would hold me over until the sequel of Ninth House came out. Even though this is a young adult series, I thoroughly enjoyed it.Overall, it was very interesting. It had great elements of magic, fantasy, and drama to keep me interested. I am excited to watch the Netflix series and see how the book translates to TV.

I‘ve finally sorted my thoughts on the Grishaverse to be able to write about them. I got a book hangover from each of these books and had to take a short break from fantasy after. They are incredible and I‘m so pissed I put off reading them for so long!

Read the trilogy to the grishaverse before the netflix series comes out. I don't see where all the hype in these book came from. Mal was very annoying up till the last book and was still slightly annoying but manageable with his character development. I felt the ending was really anticlimactic. I get the symbolism in it but it just felt flat to me. The darkling deserved and better ending AND a better prequel intro!

Between a pick and a so-so.

While I did enjoy the books, I must admit that there was something missing. I think I couldn‘t quite relate to the characters, which could be as much my own fault as it could be the author‘s. In general, the characters just left me a bit indifferent - sadly, especially Alina. The Darkling would have intrigued me more without the big twist in book 1. Honestly, I liked where the story was going BEFORE the twist.

I was impressed with this trilogy. The first book was my favorite. The second book was a bit slow but I feel like it was necessary. The series wrapped up nicely in the third book. I was happy with the ending and the new paths the characters had in front of them.

My summer reading list. I read slow. 😉 🖤 I'm only on chapter 5 of Shadow and Bone but I'm already getting hooked!

CollapsingLibrary Love the Grisha Verse! But to be honest, Crooked Kingdom was my favorite😬😅 can‘t wait to see what you think! 5y
SmartSassery @hjreviews Ooooh I already can't wait to start! I actually picked that duology first because it looked really good. Then I saw how many books were a part of this and had to start from square one. I just can't help myself. What I don't understand is where the novellas fit in. It seems there quite a bit of disagreement online about where they go. 😂 What's your take on those little side stories? 5y
CollapsingLibrary @SmartSassery sooo to be honest, I haven‘t read them 😅 my library doesn‘t have them all and I did read six of crows first, not realizing it was a part of a bigger universe (though reading them first is no problem) and didn‘t love the original trilogy as much so I haven‘t put forth a real effort to read them 😅 but I think Leigh Bardugo gives them places that they‘re supposed to be read 🤔could be wrong though! 5y
SmartSassery @hjreviews Hahaha I did that with Throne of Glass. I found Leigh Bardugo with Wonder Woman Warbringer. Loved it so was curious about the rest of her books. 5y

I was so excited to finally have all three of this series finally bought and residing on my shelf together... until Ruin and Rising came and it was the other version. So now it doesn't match! This bugs the crap outta me when the covers are different like this.

I love the other version of the books though and would rather have them so maybe I'll just buy new Shadow & Bone and Siege & Storm to match Ruin instead of buying a new one of it. Choices!!

Adventure abounds in this trilogy! While some of the middle drags on and there‘s a little extra angst from our heroine (love, infatuation, self-doubt) it has, as a good friend put it, the most satisfying conclusion to a series I‘ve ever read.
