Excited to start 2021 off with this one! Bruja Born, book 2 in the #brooklynbruja series, is a great easy read if you like fantasy but prefer modern settings. Very easy read too- already I‘ve audibly gasped a few times.
...it‘s about time...

I‘m a little behind on #fallisbooked prompts so here goes. I enjoyed the first book in the series better, and there were a couple typos 😱 but this is still an interesting #witch story. The Tolkien references were fun. Looking forward to book three!
I loved this second book in the Brooklyn Bruja series! Lula tampers with the natural order of things and it has serious consequences. We learn how strong the human spirit and family bonds can be! I'm really looking forward to the next installation of this engrossing series!
I'm really enjoying this book and I hope this series continues! My only problem, and it's not an issue with the book, is that it's in first person but by a different sister than the last book! Lol, I'm getting really confused because I read them so close together! This carousel is featured as the place where Lula & Maks had their first date, no spoilers. This is the B&B carousel on the Coney Island boardwalk, made by Marcus Illions.
Posting on Litsy after AGES! Happy @DeweysReadathon readers! Just done with breakfast and continuing with Zoraida's excellent writing. What about you'll? 📚
This second installment of Cordova‘s Brooklyn Brujas series is just as action packed as the first, pacing was excellent with a completely original magic system and characters! If you like YA with strong female characters I would recommend this series!
There‘s still a whole plot line to be wrapped up , but the action is INTENSE!
The second book in this series focused on a different sister in the same bruja family. I felt it did a good job of expanding the universe. I‘ll keep reading the series.
Book 2 starts readers down the after effects road of Book 1. Trust is trying to be rebuilt, scars are trying to heal, but unfortunately there's no respite. Tragedy occurs when the MC tries to defy Death herself and only ends up upsetting the entire life/death balance which of course leads to zombieism. Lots is packed into this second installment and to say this family suffers from PTSD is an understatement but it's still a fun ride.
Enjoying the second in the series. Once I am done with this book I will be delving into Hercule Poirot‘s Christmas! Day one of my tea advent calendar is a delicious gingerbread tea. A black tea with some hints of gingerbread. It‘s not heavy and it‘s a full leaf tea in a pyramid tea bag. Adiagos has great quality tea. Getting into that holiday spirit!
This was a pretty fun read. I really like these characters and the beginning pulled me right back into this family‘s story and gave me a lot of feels, but the middle meandered a bit and the pacing felt slow. Overall I did enjoy it and will read the 3rd book, but it‘s somewhere between a “Pick” and a “So-So” for me.
I was a little hesitant to start this book because I saw some reviews saying it wasn‘t as great as the first. I am happy to say I loved this book as much as the first.
Such a great continuation to the series. I loved Lula and her sisters. It was awesome to meet new characters and go a little deeper into the mystical world and the people who work to keep it a secret. I couldn‘t put this book down and can‘t wait for the next book.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Started today. Finished tonight. It was incredbly well done. This was the perfect weekend to read these books. They were the perfect distraction. Amazing world building, plot and characters can do that. I love these sisters and their family and their magic. I love how Córdova has created this world of magic. I cannot wait fo the next book even though I mist. Just so damn good!
One thing I absolutely love about this series is that there are consequences to the magic. So you have to make a conscious choice to deal with the “recoil” whenever you do magic. It‘s serious business. And it has to be treated as such.
I was not kidding at all. Went to the bookstore when it opened and I‘m about to dive in. I devoured the first one. I‘m ready to do the same with this one!
First book of October finished! I enjoyed the second installment of the Brooklyn Brujas trilogy, shifting focus from Alejandra to Lula. Much more angst than the first book and they stay (mostly) in the realm of the living so not as much otherworldly place-setting, either. Lula grew on me but I am ready for the third sister, Rose, to get her time in the spotlight.
This made me giggle. Love the reference to another author in this book! Started it on jury duty this morning and decided to keep reading this evening.

A very strong follow up, can't wait for the next dark & magical adventure of the Mortiz sisters & the whole bruja clan!
This book was amazing from start to finish. I was captivated by the magic and the bond of the mortiz sisters. 5 stars!
This was a fantastic book filled with diverse characters, wonderful worlds, and heartbreaking realness. I definitely recommend!

Starting this magical sequel to 'Labyrinth Lost' as I sneak a piece of blueberry muffin..🤫🙊
This blue berry muffin was supposed to be for later in the day but.....I needed a little bite to finish off my ☕!
These things can't be helped sometimes!☻
This was a high stakes fast paced adventure of the oldest of the Mortiz sisters- Lula, who sets events in motion when trying to ressurect her recently deceased boyfriend. Full of magic, strong sibling bond, exploring trauma from the previous book and how that affected all of them, this sequel is a good time. I really enjoy this series and can't to read book 3!
I wonder how many YA author names can be found in this book 🤣
I did not like this as much as Labyrinth Lost. It doesn‘t help that I always hate zombies (these weren‘t really zombies, but they were close enough). I wasn‘t thrilled with the romantic plot, either, and many characters‘ actions made no sense to me. But I love the Mortiz girls, and the world and brujería are fantastic. I‘ll be grabbing the next book (there had BETTER be a next book about Rose) as soon as I get the chance.
Loved this! What can I say. I love magical stories. Excited to see what the next book brings.
I‘m still enjoying this book a lot but the editing is really bad. This is just the most egregious example. 😕
This is the second holiday in a row that I‘ve read the name of the holiday on the day… #serendipity
Ouch.
I‘m really enjoying this so far! BTW, this is the sequel to a #YAWednesday pick from a few weeks ago, Labyrinth Lost.
It bugs me when they change the theme of book covers in the middle of a series, but this cover does look stunning.
Here is a close up of the awesome pin I got in my preorder gift package.
My preorder gifts for Bruja Born came today! Love the map and pin.
I had an awesome time at @OneMorePageBooks author event tonight with @TheNextBook !! (This is the 2nd book in the series, so I‘ll tag the first book and the other author‘s books in the comments— I highly recommend The Belles!)
These were delivered last night. It‘s a day late but Happy Book Birthday to Bruja Born. So excited to read these two.

1. I had a commercial loan officer who refused to share the information I needed ( he had all the info) to open the account he asked me to open. He was on me all week and finally gave it up today, last minute so I stayed an hour later at work today
2. Probably on household stuff I need.
3. The tagged book. It‘s my only preorder this year so far.
4. Tortilla chips while waiting for pad Thai.
1) today my mom sent me a text listing gifts she wants for Mother‘s Day. 😐 (its Sunday! And I live in Oregon, she lives in Utah. Her gift has been sent.)
2) I would spend it on a book or a shirt.
3) tagged
4) peanut butter with celery sticks.
