*TW* I was quite surprised that this was a YA book. It was very gruesome, racist, with brutal domestic abuse. The zombies scenes were excellent, but the rest was incredibly off putting. It seemed unnecessary, but I suppose it was meant to be a commentary on human monsters vs monster monsters. It just didn't land well with me, especially as it is meant for teenage readers. I don't plan on continuing with the series.

Ok, I give up 😫

Nope. It tried (really hard) to be something profound, but it just didn't work. I HATED the main character and the dad. I love me a good zombie yarn, but this wasn't one. 🧟‍♀️

My first audiobook was ridiculously disappointing. This zombie novel is mostly boring, super racist, and annoying. The only good parts are when zombies are eating people, because those scenes are really well written.

Other than that, don't waste your time... This has been on my TBR since 2013; so glad to get it off there. Definitely not wasting my time on the sequels.

Used the last big piece of my zombie fabric to make a book sleeve. I would rather have made a book hugger but this works. The fabrics piece is in the wrong direction for a hugger. Even on this the fabric is upside down on the back. I'm keeping it so I don't care.

I'm not so crafty anymore, not much of a "maker" because of arthritis but I bought some bookish things and my daughter is deciding what to make for you.
The zombie tote is the cutest grossest thing I've ever seen. Wait, does that make sense? Lol. Did you make it? It's awesome!

Each book in this series is a #quickread. The main character is a #fierce girl. And the book was so different than I was expecting. Now to find time to read book 2. #readingresolutions

Once again I'm not sure if this is a change in cover art or international editions. I like the original better. Book one was about so much more than just Zombies. #coverlove #changesedition

This book #trick ed me. I thought it was going to be full of zombie gore. Instead Ed it #treat ed me to a story on racism and zombies. #uncannyoctober.

4⭐️. This book was much less about Zombies than I anticipated. Infact for most of the book B and her friends are debating whether the zombie attack from chapter 1 is really an attack, or just a publicity stunt. There are currently 12 books in this series, so I will let you make that guess. It's an interesting look at racism that I am sure will play to the series.

#hallowread #zombieoutbreak. I'm about 1/2 way through this book and they still have not determined if the zombie outbreak is real or a TV stunt.

#booknerdconfessions I really don't care for book sleeves. I don't care if my books look read. It means they brought joy to my life, or to someone's life. This one came in a box or I wouldn't have it. Yes I got one of the funny ones if you think it looks out of square. I don't care. I do however love the fabric. I'm a master quilter so maybe I should break out my machine and get on the money train. These things can be $$$. #fallintobooks

My first Zombie book! On page 31. Really enjoying it so far!

Xo I read the first story in the bind up of the first three. It was ok. Interesting by not really my thing.. Don't get me wrong I love zombie movies but the story just had too many trigger points. Racism, spousal abuse, child abuse violence bullying. To much all thrown together. Yes I know it's the main characters back story but umm nope..

Another book haul from the dollar tree.. I swear I go in for one thing and always come out with books. I think I need to be banned from the dollar tree. 😜

I have set myself a task. These are most my reading challenges for 2017. #litsyatoz , #beatthebacklist (11 parts). I am also going to try and finish the #readharder challenge. Let's see if I survive.

Audio, YA. It has a similar premise with the misunderstood screwed up teen meeting up with impossibly evil villains and right at the climax the book ends leaving you needing to read the series to figure out what's going on. Brains, bigotry, unpleasant people, more gore, a big WTF and the end.

I really need to read this book. I love anything with zombies.
