Just finished reading Volumes 4 & 5 of the Saga Series by Brian K. Vaughn and Fiona Staples. Rereading these books makes me remember why this is my favorite comic series 🥰
I picked up the next three "to-read" volumes of Saga from the library, and read them back-to-back thinking that would help with my sense of narrative flow, which it did to the extent that my feeling of the flow as turbulent rather than smooth was confirmed. Maybe it's a stylistic choice, but when the story is split over installments, I'd prefer more cohesion.
I know people love these characters, and I get why, but at the same time, if Vaughan ⬇️
I enjoyed the various side quests with the characters paired off. These scenes allowed the characters to develop in different directions and show how terrible Marko and Alana are when apart. Geez those dragon lizard scenes were too much though. This was a lower pick than the previous ones, but I‘m still really invested in the overarching story for now. It‘s interesting to see how various traumas manifest, and I love the narrative asides of Hazel.
Vaughan splits the ever-growing cast into three groups chasing each other around the galaxy with varying degrees of futility. He knows exactly when to split off the characters and recombine them into unexpectedly delightful combinations, such as Marko and Prince Robot IV, who despise each other but need each other's help to find their kids.
This volume pretty much starts off where the previous volume ended.
The tension in the story never once wanes, and the quality of the artwork is superb as usual.
Eager to continue.
Had a super busy day without being able to read as much as I wanted so I dove into Vol 5 for a little light reading. So good!
My August pick for #12Booksof2021. Part of the graphic novel series that taught GNs are not comics.
My second finish for #deweysreversereadathon and #awesomeaugust. What can I say about Saga that hasn‘t already been said. It is beautiful, heartbreaking and intriguing all in one.
Another finish for #seriesread2021
⭐️⭐️⭐️
This one was good but lacked for me in places. This one is also just straight out gross in some scenes and so sad in others. Volume 5 also shows how much we can hate someone just because they are different from us, how we automatically think we are superior to them because we are different.
Internet connection has been horrible today, windy, rainy ugh! Anyway took all day to download this on Libby but then fled through it! I am excited though that the next one is already downloaded and ready to go!!! (Also I love this little guy)

After a two week wait finally have Vol 5 to read! So naturally I flew through it.

"There's no graduating from this kind of education, couples just keep growing and changing until they either break up or die."
Final challenge for #24in48 is my favorite read from the weekend. I had high hopes for my stack, but ultimately most of my picks were so-so. HOWEVER, Saga Volume 5 (and 4) did not disappoint. I literally had a smile on my face the entire time I read it!
On to my 2nd graphic novel of the #EclecticReadathon which is a reread because I read it so long ago I‘ve forgotten, like, everything 😅
Tears! This one had me in tears.
Finally! I can continue with the series!
Previously I only owned the first five volumes, but now I have up to volume eight!
So on I read!
This one got the series back on track for me after an off volume four. I‘m still interested to see where this goes.
I've been so busy the past couple weeks, I've had hardly any Litsy time 😮
Today was dance exams (running them, not taking any myself). Now they're over successfully for another year, so that's one huge, stressful item off the to do list. Home now on this beautiful wintery spring day and rewarding myself with some hot chocolate and Saga.
"I've found that cultures often clash for the same reasons that people do. It's not because we're so different from each other...it's because we're all so goddamn alike."
Such an incredible story, I love all the characters so much, they're all so real and multifaceted, so many shades of grey. Need to get 7, 8 & 9 so I can get my heart ripped out (I've been warned about Vol 9's ending).
5 ????? out of 5 for both Vol 5 & 6.
Such a great series!! I must find out what is going to happen next. On to Vol 6!!!
I'm not giving any context for this...including my current state of mind 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh, oh, oh, I am so in love with this series! The artwork is totally To Die For. I'm crushing hard on Alana. And Marko. And The Will. If - and it's a Big If - my Hamilton obsession abates any time soon, I'm pretty sure this will rush in to fill the void.
Also, can't decide who I want to adopt more, Lying Cat or Friendy.
However, I am slightly mentally scarred for life by the dragon in the cave scene .... bleach my eyes, I must unsee it! 😱😱😱
This series to continue to be fantastic. There's just the right amount of action and story, plus the colors are beautiful. I don't want want it to end!
After three exams(2 nursing exams and an anatomy and physiology 2 exam) in a four day period I can finally read something else besides school work!! Since my eyes and brain hurt I‘m going to read something quick and fun tonight!!!! This is just what I need!! I really really miss all the reading I was able to do over the summer! I can‘t wait till Christmas break to catch up on my tbr list!!! And I miss all my Litsy fam too! 😘😘❤️📚
Care of Magical Creatures - Acceptable
This was great until they used the R word. I really am disappointed that it was even used in this series. It knocked it down from 5 to 3.5 stars for me.

Day of the Dead ✅
Saga Vol 5 ✅
1+ hr of When the Moon was Ours 🎧
Can‘t wait to wake up to read The Woman in the Woods🙌🏻
I was able to finish all the Sagas today! Every single one was excellent. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
It‘s a Barnes & Noble day for me! I‘m on a graphic novel kick again, so it‘s time to finish this awesome series!
Another great addition to the Saga series. I am slowing down my reading of this series so I don‘t get caught up too soon. Great writing and amazing illustrations again. Nice character development...
Another amazing read. The language is a bit crude at times but the stories are incredible and the graphics amazing.
So much for a book buying ban. Though to be fair both sagas are from the library but still oops lol.
What more can I say? If you‘ve read this far, you‘re as addicted as I am, so you don‘t need me squealing for 451 characters to convince you to read it. I do think I may have to start getting the individual issues once I catch up with the published volumes. I don‘t want to have to wait for multiple issues to be released and then bound for publication in a volume. Sooooo good.😍 This cover is everything, though!
I started the next volume of Saga during yesterday‘s #comicthon and finished it today. I love the artwork of Fiona Staples. Such great characters, especially Ghüs!
Of course I still love my top favorite graphic novel! 💕
