A gripping morbid tale of kidnapped survivor and her dark memories of the garden. I loved the story but the story telling style was a bit too confusing for me. Trigger warning: contains sexual assault, children

This was good. Disturbing, but good. Although the ending was a little odd and unbelievable.

Near an isolated mansion lies a beautiful garden.
In this garden grow luscious flowers, shady trees... and a collection of precious “butterflies” —young women who have been kidnapped and intricately tattooed to resemble their namesakes.

I finished this a couple weeks ago. This book was so insane I couldn‘t stop reading. Highly recommend. Be wary, it‘s disturbing at times.

Welcome to the Butterfly Garden where everything is calm and peaceful. The Gardener has done his best to make everything perfect for his collection of butterflies, a place where they can live and thrive until they go into their display case to be forever remembered for the beautiful women they used to be… but who were they before they came to the Butterfly Garden and what happens when the living butterflies try to escape? Recommend!

The whole premise of this book didn‘t make sense on so many levels. There are so many fundamental problems with the reactions and behaviors of the characters. With this being said.... I couldn‘t stop reading it and enjoyed it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So, my kid convinced me to get a kindle, not hard, but definitely not needed.
This book looks decidedly warped enough to be the first read.
I use kindle constantly to read trashy novels I never share. But, usually they are on my ipad which is just too big.

The story was compelling and the villain unlike any I had read. Depraved but without the self awareness to realize it. The story was told in a series of flashbacks by one of the victims. At times this format was a bit jarring. I was feeling immersed in the story, and then suddenly we are back in the interrogation room. The way the FBI tries to implicate Maya in the crime, when she is clearly a victim, didn't sit right with me. 4 out of 5 stars.

Just before I go get some sleep, I thought I‘d share this picture I just took of my butterfly bush in bloom. I‘m pretty sure it‘s a Buddleja “ Autumn Beauty” as it‘s a month into autumn here in Australia, either way it‘s a gorgeous plant that attracts honeybees & butterflies to my garden & smells like flowery honey. What‘s blooming in your part of the world? #isolationinteractions #keeplitsypositive #flowersoflitsy

Somehow this book is pretty much illogical. Like why cant they do anything? There‘s a group of girl versus one old man and they have so many chances to kill him even without a weapon bah. But they don‘t and macam pasrah ajak with whatever that comes to them. Come on girls! Take whatever in front of you and smash that psycho till his brain splash out

From the first page to the last I was engaged 100% I‘ve read a lot of negative reviews regarding the “twist” at the end being a let down. If you‘re the type of person who only reads stories with huge twists at the end, this book is not for you. I felt like Dot Hutchinson laid everything important on the table at the very beginning, and added a small twist for those who crave it. It would‘ve been much better without it, but it was still amazing.

I struggled between being really intrigued via morbid curiosity and disliking it due to frustrations with some plot holes.

I appreciated a lot of the character development, but I didn't like how literally every action of every chatacter was so improbable. However, self-reflecting on the fact that I've never been kidnapped, held captive, tortured, and raped by a family of men allowed me to keep an open mind and enjoy the story.

🦋The Butterfly Garden🦋
It‘s truly a story that you won‘t forget easily. My one of my favorite quotes from the book is this “I think a trauma doesn‘t stop just because you‘ve been rescued.” Dot shows what it‘s truly like to be a survivor with the feelings and insecurities that comes with it. She put a very personal and inside view of what a survivor of abuse feels and the thought process behind it.
From yours truly,

Wow. Just... wow. This book surprised me. It will be added to my list of all time favorites! The beauty described against the darkness is astounding. A girl emerges from a beautiful prison to tell her story. The way it‘s written is perfect. I loved hearing it as an interview of a witness which I think is such a fresh telling of a thriller. 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋

HollyBahling @LiteraryinLititz It is fantastic! I will say ion full disclosure it deals with kidnapping violence and rape. It isn‘t for everyone. However, the ending made my coworkers jump because I gasped so loud! So amazing! 5y

I enjoyed this very much. The plot is disturbing but I didnt feel like it was excessively graphic like some other thrillers I have read. I enjoyed the way the story was told - you know the outcome from the first page but the telling of the events leading up to that will have you hooked. And a twist at the end that I didn't see coming! Already downloaded the next book, planning to read it immediately!

Whew, this was intensely dark and disturbing, but so beautifully written. This one took me a while to finish. I had to put it down multiple times. That being said though, the characters are so layered and complex, some more likeable than others. The friendships formed are so intriguing, to experience such horrifying things together creates such a unique bond. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Had an early flight out of Austin this morning, which gave me enough time to knock the rest of this book out. I wasn't as enthralled as a lot of the positive reviews I've seen, I kept hoping for some sort of twist to bring me around but it just fell flat. A horrifying premise with no amount of believability whatsoever, so suspend disbelief all ye who enter here. #kindleunlimited

cherinium I think difficulty in suspending belief was an issue for me when I read this book several years ago. I just found it to be terribly disturbing. 5y
