I enjoyed this as much as the first because it has a slow character driven build up to the explosion of an ending where are the subtle maneuvering has lead to. I liked that we see more of Eugenides and his character growth. My only main criticism is that the 'romantic' bits felt underdeveloped and a little tacked on.

I enjoyed this book even more than the first book. In fact, I absolutely loved it. Megan Whalen Turner is so good at surprises. I don't usually like political fantasy but I'm so glad I decided to give this series a chance and will definitely continue with it. The audiobook narration is also fantastic.

The other signed book I treated myself to. I love this series, and this book is my favorite.

Lost the plot at some point, but still entertained

A darker tale, strong second book in the series, completely captivating, not to be missed!

I am not a great audiobook listener - I‘m too easily distracted and easily forget details if it‘s been too long - so discovering that rereading old favorites via audio works for me has been a joy. Esp when those favorites have an excellent narrator as the thief series does. Always love!

This was a wild ride! Twists and turns that Turner seems to excel at! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!
Will be taking a break from the series to enjoy this ending I do believe :). How long that break will be might be days or weeks. Who knows!

Oh boy there was a lot of politics in this and I THINK I kept it all straight. Once again everyone be lying to each other 24/7/365. This just feels like the OG YA politic fantasy for some reason to me. I'm not CRAZY about the romance developing but I can definitely see its purpose

This might be a good way to blend my historical fiction reading binge with trying to get back into fantasies

Though this second book suffered from a few pacing issues, I love where the story went in this novel. The additional perspectives added to this second book benefited the story. I've started the third book, and I am enjoying it just as much!

My current work read is this and I‘m loving it on my lunch breaks so far!

"Where there's life there's hope" is a line from one of my all-time favorite books, The Queen of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner. Always good to be reminded of this during troubled times. We must never lose hope.

Now I have signed and personalized copies of two of my all-time favorite books: The Queen of Attolia and The King of Attolia. Perfect for all the times I'll be rereading these in the future (These are my fourth copies, I think? I have paperbacks of the old editions, ebooks, and my lending copies are with a friend).

I inhaled this book! The second in Thief series. I am really getting hooked with this series. I was shocked to find out that this book was published in 2000. I didn't realize the series was that old! I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Finally finished rereading this gem of a novel! Still as good as I remembered it to be, and I highlighted so many lines because I loved them. If you're a fan of YA fantasy then you should definitely read MWT's Queen's Thief series! I have so much love for her writing and I can't wait to reread more of it. A brownie and a dirty chai chocolate in the background! ☕🍰

The only thing that would make this even better was if Bono Gelato's mango ube was used to top it instead of vanilla ice cream.
