Blueberry Muffin Murder
Blueberry Muffin Murder | Joanne Fluke
Bakery owner Hannah Swensen is back--and the cookies are crumbling--as acclaimed author Joanne Fluke serves readers another helping of murder, mayhem, and mouthwatering mystery. . . Blueberry Muffin Murder Preparations are underway for Lake Eden, Minnesota's annual Winter Carnival--and Hannah Swensen is set to bake up a storm at her popular shop, The Cookie Jar. Too bad the honor of creating the official Winter Carnival cake went to famous lifestyle maven Connie Mac--a half-baked idea, in Hannah's opinion. She suspects Connie Mac is a lot like the confections she whips up on her cable TV cooking show--sweet, light, and scrumptious-looking, but likely to leave a bitter taste in your mouth. Hannah's suspicions are confirmed when Connie Mac's limo rolls into town. Turns out America's "Cooking Sweetheart" is bossy, bad-tempered, and downright domineering. Things finally boil over when Hannah arrives at The Cookie Jar to find the Winter Carnival cake burnt to a crispand Connie Mac lying dead in her pantry, struck down while eating one of Hannah's famous blueberry muffins. Next thing Hannah knows, the police have declared The Cookie Jar's kitchen crime scene off-limits. She's a baker without an oven--and the Carnival is right around the corner. Hannah's only alternative is to cook up a plan to save her business--by finding the killer herself. . . Includes seven original cookie and dessert recipes for you to try! "Delicious food descriptions and recipes, warm and familiar characters who grow into real people. . .a vivid picture of the small lake town and a well-crafted mystery provide the ingredients for yet another tempting feast that should satisfy all fans, old and new."--Publishers Weekly

I can‘t say I was too impressed with this one. I loved the first two books in the series, but this one just couldn‘t measure up. I‘m certainly going to try the blueberry muffin recipe from the book though, it sounds divine!

Finished my Hannah Swenson mystery for the #teamslaughter buddy read! I haven‘t liked any in the series as much as the first one unfortunately. I do like the town and the cosy vibe a lot. I think Hannah herself is just annoying me more with time, which is a shame. Overall worth reading though

BarkingMadRead I did a re-read for this, and I was annoyed from the start this time lol she just isn‘t that likable! I can‘t believe I got through so much of the series, a lot of the characters aren‘t that likable, even the leading man is a bit of a jerk! 2y

Another fun #cozymystery
I never thought I was a cozy mystery person but I am! And adding the snowy upper Minnesota setting doesn't hurt.

Just make sure you don't read any Fluke books while you're hungry!

All in all this is a good book. It could do with out the love triangle. Love the mothers.

I am hoping that Hanna Swensen and Stephanie Plum does not have too much in common. I would hate to have to bail on the series.

I am trying not to read every last book in this series but it is really difficult. I found out about chocolate chips in one, Strawberry shortcake in 2 now I off to muffins.

jewright I love these books! The juxtaposition of all the murder and baking is so funny. 4y

Just finished the three volumes of The Sandman that I borrowed from the library it is now time to transfer the recipes I wish to keep from my latest Hannah Swenson murder mystery. Still need to figure out what I want to read next.....

We have had a mild winter in NE Missouri. Until last night. We got a ice storm of georgous proportions. Read fifteen chapters while this was going on before I decided that I needed to go back to laundry and then attempt sleep before having to come to work this morning.

Totally enjoying this oddly cozy murder mystery series. I had seen one of the Hallmark movies but didn't know that
A) They were based on books and
B) That there were more movies.
This book was very similar to the previous 2 but still pretty enjoyable.

Anyone else get sunburnt this weekend?
Crazy weekend did involve some much needed rest and reading. Chilled out by the river and read a fun (yes I said fun) murder mystery.

Bailed before I even really got started. eBook from the library gave a spoiler on the first page. I‘ll go back once I‘ve forgotten that I already know who dies.

I finished this one last night while my husband and his pals were watching the football game. I enjoyed the first two books in the series but found this one a little boring. I plan to keep trucking on based on the recommendation of several littens.

When I'm not in the mood for serious books I always reach for #cosymystery #culinarymystery. This story is happening in a bakery/shop The Cookie Jar with a lots of goodies (cookies and muffins), during preparation for Winter Carnival. It's easy, painless book to read, not best in the world, but it fulfills its purpose - to have a good time! Extra bouns - recipes.

Bookish_Predator That's what I always do too! #cosymysteries are fun, quick and easy to read and my go to when I need a break from all the others ☺ 7y
Cortg I had a patron come into the library one day looking for a particular recipe from this author in one of her books, but she couldn't remember which book it was! We eventually found it, but I always think of that day when I see her books 😆 7y
jpmcwisemorgan I like this series! 7y

MaleficentBookDragon I love #cozies when I want something fun. Yes, there's a murder, but that's almost beside the point. I've loved amateur sleuths since Nancy Drew and Trixie Beldon in my childhood. ❤️️📚❤️️📚❤️️📚 7y
ferskner I listen to these on road trips. They are perfect for driving (except then I have to stop to buy cookies)! 7y
Simona @Cortg A lot of books😬 ...to find a particular recipe! 7y
Simona @ferskner I always have a package of cookies beside me, while reading hers books. 😋 7y
Simona @Bookish_Predator I "discovered" them this August while reading for #bookisholympics and I was looking for quick and easy stories and since then this is my third book. 7y
Simona @jpmcwisemorgan Me too👍😋 7y
Simona @MaleficentTheBookDragon I've never read these books and I don't know nothing about Nancy or Trixie😳 7y
Millesent And Joanna Fluke mysteries are on the Hallmark Channel and they are a great #Cozy watch It is the murder she baked series 6y

It was hard to resist not to use HP (have you noticed how these books correspond to all the challenges) or direwolfes from A Song of Ice and Fire. So I decided to present the cat from the books by Joanne Fluke where the main character Hannah Swensen share an apartment with the ever-hungry cat Moishe.
Can't say that this is my #favoriteanimalsidekick but it was fun and quick read appropriate for the time when you have head full with heavy stuffs.
