Got off to a slow start on this book and almost bailed on it. Kept on reading it and turns out I really enjoyed the book. Definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely loved this book. It's got a Forrest Gump meets To Kill a Mockingbird vibe and atmosphere but a story all of its own. Brilliant effortless prose that allowed for visual imagery to settle in your mind, bringing the characters an enigmatic setting to life. Couldn't put it down.

My first 2024 read and it was the right pick! I just loved the way it was told, such an enjoyable one with all the feels! I hoped that the great books will keep on coming after this🫰🏻This is also my pick for #bookspinbingo
It‘s about a girl abandoned by her family and she has to fend for herself in the marsh. A little like Tarzan but with a different premise, I liked that the story is told until she grows old, with closure and a twist! 👇🏻

Best way to start my holidays was by finishing this book, in bed, with my coffee, and my cat.
Through the story of the Marsh Girl, not only do we get to feel and smell the marsh and all the amazing creatures, big and small that inhabit trance, but our heart strings are pulled as we yearn for the survival and need for love of one lonely girl/woman.

Read it friends!

Kya is laughed at by classmates, abandoned by family, ignored or attacked by lovers. No wonder she hides in the marsh. The town feels thinly sketched. The quarterback is arrogant, the defense lawyer swaggers, the two cops go to diners. Cliches aside: almost every adult, particularly those in authority, is insensitive to her pain. Any violence she brings to them is strangely thought of as a win, where the real victory is moving on without them.

First book of 2023 complete! I definitely enjoyed this book. A lot of different emotions expressed that aren't thought of often. Isolation can be hard. Definitely recommend!

Loved it. Couldn‘t wait to finish it, but didn‘t want it to end!

1) The tagged book was my absolute favorite book I‘ve read in August, and perhaps the entire year.

2) I adored the main character, Kya. A strong, heartbroken and independent woman who lived her days alone but always in the company of nature. I was often heartbroken for her, and books rarely make me cry, but this one certainly did. I was immersed in Kya‘s story from start to finish.

I don't even know what to say on this one. What a great book. One of the few that I've ever felt has lived up to its hype. Five 🌟. 2 👍🏻 Definitely high on the favorite reads of the the year. #52-2022

UPDATE 6/20 - I just can‘t get into this one and I wanted to so badly! It came highly recommended.

This does a great job at turning the pages and, though I don‘t read many, judge this to be a righteous mystery/courtroom drama. The descriptions of the natural world are some of the best and engaging bits that make this the good read that it is. Shame I couldn‘t get over the “To Kill a Mockingbird” feel, even though there was plenty to set it apart… that‘s more me than the book…

Giving in to all the hype

I knew I would enjoy this book because many people recommended it to me, however it really exceeded all expectations! It is a wonderfully complex story that pulls you in and really makes you feel for the main character, Kya. I highly recommend reading this if you haven‘t already!

Top three favorite books! I was engaged and intrigued throughout the entirety of it.. never wanted to set it down.

I really enjoyed this book. I absolutely couldn't put it down until I finished.

1. It‘s one of the factors that makes me want to read a book or avoid entirely.
2. I‘d rather not know anything. That‘s what the summary is for.
3. I got a hardcover of the tagged book last year for Christmas. Just something about the cover I really like. Still need to finish it though. 😅

Kinda predictable but still a fan

I was late to this book but did enjoy it. There was some weird racial tensions that I thought could have been more fleshed out but I really loved the story.

I‘ve never been a big e-book person, but lately the hospital has been a complete dumpster fire. The few pages I get to steal away during work is the only thing keeping my sanity. Stay safe out there everyone!
