A good short story by And Weir and very Andy Weir-ish. I think there could be more to this and if Weir'd decide to make a book/novella out of it, I'd read it. I do love “morally flexible“ characters 😉

That was a roller-coaster scientific Las Vegas heist ride like none I have ever read before. Weir‘s slow-burn setup crescendoing into a high-octane mental chess match was superb.

This short story was a bit underwhelming next to the full novels by Andy Weir. It was an already much used trope involving quantum computing.

My fourth audio book in the Forward collection - "a collection of six stories of the near and far future from out-of-this-world authors. Each piece can be read or listened to in a single thought-provoking sitting." This one almost went over my head but I got the idea and quite enjoyed it. ⭐⭐⭐

This 28 page short story is part of the Forward Collection which was curated by Blake Crouch which at time of posting is available on Kindle Unlimited.

This book is about computer coding and tech isn't my thing however credit where credits due, the author did a fairly good job of explaining and I understood the jist of it. Kind of. I did like the authors writing style though so I will try one of his other books in the future.

Short story about quantum computing, quantum physics and how Las Vegas might have to deal with it.

I liked the characters and the narration. Especially appreciated the plot twist right at the beginning of the story. I thought it was heading into a different direction.

This one was a good short story, but a bit too short for me.... I loved the quick thinking smart wife, I‘d have liked to hear even more about her.

So a good short distraction, but I wanted more.

Another fun and quick read from the Forward collection.

This definitely has been my least favorite so far, although I would still recommend it. I just wish Weir had given the story a bit more time to develop rather than keep it quite so short.

I picked up the e version of this short story last year through AMZN Prime and they automatically added the audio to my Audible account!

It‘s about how an Indian couple decide to scam a casino using quantum computing. It‘s an okay Black Mirror-ish story (the downside of future technologies) made better by the audiobook narrator 🎧

Last of the 6. I enjoyed it!

Of the 6 stories, Summer Frost and Ark were tied for 1st place. I liked them all bc I like the premise of future technology‘s potential for harm and evil—ethics issues!
Also I have great respect for the short story as an art form.
Any readers who want to share what you thought of this series?

This could have been better. The quantum physics & entanglements stuff went right over my head. The ending was sort of interesting. Honestly, most of these stars are for the excellent narration.

Games are only as intelligent as their creator- and smart enough to fix the odds....

🎧 why did I love this story so much? It‘s a nerdy quantum computing story so if you hate tech this may not be for you but it was a great short story with a twist or two. The narrator was also pretty good! This is story 4 of 6. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hmmm. I decided to dig into the shorter one before bed. This was my first Andy Weir. It wasn't terrible, but the writing seemed both overly simplistic/juvenile, while also a bit like a quantum physics word dump. It felt clunky & awkward, as if a very inexperienced author wrote it. Like when the Indian wife is discussing quantum stuff & then randomly adjusts her sari & thinks Americans look good in their clothes but she prefers saris, lol. 2⭐️s

This is a short, entertaining little story. There's nothing overly complex or fantastic about it, but I was engaged by it for the entire 40 minutes. I'm one of the few listeners who didn't care all that much for Weir's The Martian, but I did like this short work.
