“When trust goes, how quickly love disappears and self-preservation takes over.”
The premise of this one is Stephanie and Patrick hapoily married when a woman from Patrick's past seemingly appears into their lives out of nowhere. She tells Stephanie she is Patrick‘s ex wife‘s best friend and insists his first wife's death was not an accident, she has been murdered by Patrick. This was a domestic type thriller that gripped me from the start.A twisty read and spellbinding read from Shari Lapena. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Shockingly hard to read. I normally am never able to predict plot twists but this was just really predictable and not at all thrilling. The inner monologues of characters were repetitive and it took forever for anything to actually happen. The ending was really unsatisfactory and hurried and the resolution for the central characters wife was not believable for her character arc. Not a fan.
Wow! What a story! As Ruth Ware said, “No one does suburban drama like Shari Lapena.” This was such a good book. Just when you think you know what everyone is up to-nope! Shari Lapena is the queen of domestic thrillers.”
“Stephanie and Patrick are adjusting to life with their colicky twin girls. The babies are a handful, but even as Stephanie struggles with the disorientation of sleep deprivation, there's one thing she's sure of: she has all she ever wanted. Then Erica, a woman from Patrick's past, appears and makes a disturbing accusation. Patrick had always said his first wife's death was an accident, but now Erica claims it was murder.”
A fast paced and twisty domestic thriller. This was a quick read which kept me guessing. Perfect for thriller fans.
High end of mediocre. None of the twists were good, they were all awful. But I read the whole thing in a sitting. I don‘t know how Shari does it but she does.
Why is Lapena such a good slump buster? Like… this book is …not that good. All of these people are irritating. But I‘ve binged 68% of this thing while my boyfriend has played Final Fantasy 7 remake most of the day. There‘s obviously something I like about it. Peppermint Bark Rumchata martini in the wine glass. 🎄🌵 🥛
A twisty thriller I couldn't put down. Admittedly, I didn't LOVE the resolution, but I also didn't hate it. Lapena seems to be the kind of author who I can get addicted to because of some fairly unbelievable twists that are also unbelievably captivating. Bonus: great for pulling me out of reading slumps.

HOOKED!!! I've been really struggling lately to stay interested in books, bailing left, right, and centre. But I pressed play on this today and haven't stopped since. On the edge of my seat with this story!
A fast paced and twisty domestic thriller. This was a quick read which kept me guessing. Perfect for thriller fans.
“‘It‘s been almost ten years,‘ she says. ‘A long time to think.‘
‘About what?‘
‘The accident.‘ She looks at him intently. ‘Do you still think about it?‘
‘I try not to, but sometimes I do.‘
‘I do, a lot.‘

I‘m a sucker for a multi-perspective domestic thriller and this did not disappoint. Two amazing twists lead to the ultimate ending which I felt was perfect for this situation and had me cheering out loud. Stephanie was by far my favorite character! #favoriteline “he‘s using wives like ATM‘s” 🙌🏻 brilliant.
This one was just ok for me. I liked the premise of the story but did have some issues with how it played out and felt like there were some unanswered questions for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I read quite a few books in March and enjoyed all but one of them. I know there have been mixed reviews on The End of Her, but I enjoyed it. I can see how if you were listening on audiobook it would be confusing with just one narrator. Overall, it was an excellent reading month.
One thing Shari Lapena never disappoints in is writing a quick and easy to follow storyline with a few twists thrown in for fun. Was the story believable? No…the story has 4 different character POV‘s so when the twist hits its not necessarily consistent with how all the characters interacted with one another but I‘m not here to pick the story apart. I was in the mood for a mindless, quick thriller and this book delivered just that!
Patrick was married before Stephanie, but his first wife died in a freak accident while she was pregnant with his baby. An affair in the mix, that came back to haunt Patrick & Stephanie. Erica making extreme claims that Patrick really murdered his first wife! Can Stephanie figure out the truth? Does she need to protect herself & her newborn twins? Such a twisting story of lies, deception, and betrayal. 4.8 out of 5 ⭐️ SO WORTH READING.
What did I just listen to? It started out pretty decent, maybe a few too many stilted moments of "she thought something seemed fishy here," but still OK. Then the various characters, especially women, all seemed to blend together both because of the narration but also their sheer lack of uniqueness. Then a climax, an end? But no. Last 10% was random twists that didn't make realistic and also were rushed. Maybe it's my mood...
I feel like this book just needs to end.
Why isn't it done yet?
Lol
Maybe just my mood...but probably not.
This book took awhile to get into but once I got into the thick of the plot I couldn‘t put it down. I really enjoyed this one and was not able to guess the twists and turns. #August.2.20
I was up until two in the morning finishing this one, so I suppose that makes it a pick for me. I always find the very end of these types of thrillers a bit less-than... but the rest was definitely worth it.
I am a huge fan of Shari LaPena, but this was not my favorite book of hers. The poos main character is exhausted as she stays home each day with her colicky newborn twins. She means well and is doing her best. Unluckily for her, it seems as though she married an man with a past. His past revisits in the form of a haughty (annoying..want to punch her) woman who is attempting to blackmail them. Can her husband be trusted?
Overall Rating 3¼⭐ | Narration 😕 = Should‘ve had more narrators
While it kept me listening and I wouldn‘t say it was bad per se….I just didn‘t see it going in the direction it did near the end. It felt like it came out of nowhere and sort of left a bad taste in my mouth.
Loved this book, was a definite ‘pull you in‘. I didn‘t want to put it down 📖
Was he guilty or not is the first question ? Let's just say I guessed correct. However I didn't guess the twists at the end of this book.
Lots of gardening listening and posting lately, but I‘m getting close to having the space set up! Many books going into this plot 🥰 this story was a bit lackluster at first, with a ton of plot twists towards the end. Overall...meh. Not a total waste of time, but I kept waiting to be engaged and it just never got there for me 🤷🏽♀️ #2021
I forgot to add this book when I finished it last week. Oops! Stephanie and Patrick are newlyweds with newborn twin girls. And Patrick past comes back to haunt him and his family. I loved how strong Stephanie was even when she was at her weakest. I never saw the ending come. It was a true twist!
This one kept me engaged and the ending was *arrrrgggg!! i enjoy Lapena‘s books

Stephanie and Patrick Kilgour are happily married with twin daughters until Erica shows up and accuses Patrick of killing his first wife, Lindsay, and their baby. They did die but it was claimed to be an accident. But is Patrick telling the truth? This is a perfectly paced and plotted whodunit and had me guessing all the way through. I‘m looking forward to reading her next one. Recommended.
I enjoy Lapena's thrillers, even if they aren't perfect. Like... say you're wealthy and you have colicky twins and you haven't slept much. The common sense approach would be to hire help so you can sleep. Some fun twists, although I was hoping for a slightly different ending, I was pleased with it.

This was a pretty good thriller with a decent ending. Just a little predictable 😏
Book #1 is done! I didn't get a snow day, but I'm off the weekend and looking forward to snuggling up and doing some #AnyWayYouReadathon. @kimmypete1 @Eggbeater
It was a page turner for sure and really easy to get to know the characters and follow the story, I just finished it feeling a bit... ok? And?
I hope all my predictions and assumptions so far are not true. I really want to be surprised by this one!
An excellent book! I listened to this all morning. It had me on edge until the very end. It kept me guessing.
Oh what fun this book was! Glad I finally got to it, and it hardly took any time at all to get through. Fabulous ending too! My #bookspin read and a #tbrread for 31 #wintergames points!

Started using the Bookly app to track my reading. Must say I‘m impressed, my infographic brain is loving this. This is the first book I‘ve read using the app
Score!!!! After a tough day at work, picked up these 2 books at my favorite local store🤩
Gave me such a boost🏃♂️
Well done, Cover To Cover 📚 🌟
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It‘s difficult to talk about this book without giving anything away, so I‘ll just say this story took turns I certainly wasn‘t expecting and I raced through it alternating reading it and listening to the audiobook. Entirely entertaining! I‘d watch any movies based on Shari Lapena‘s books!

Above average but not by much. It kept me reading and was very quick. No likable characters.
Almost done with this book! 🤓📚❤️ #reading #lovetoread #theendofher #sharilapena #books #litsy #kindle
Thank goodness this book is short because it's not particularly engaging. Of course it has one of her trademark uninspired endings. ? I do appreciate her writing as I really enjoyed "An Unwanted Guest" and "The Couple Next Door" but this one fell short for me.
4.5⭐
So, I won this thrilling ebook from Goodreads. I finished it in one day! A page turner that kept me guessing until the end.
