A Sky Beyond the Storm
A Sky Beyond the Storm | Sabaa Tahir
51 posts | 41 read | 16 to read
Prepare for the jaw-dropping finale of Sabaa Tahir's beloved New York Times bestselling An Ember in the Ashes fantasy series, and discover: Who will survive the storm? Picking up just a few months after A Reaper at the Gates left off... The long-imprisoned jinn are on the attack, wreaking bloody havoc in villages and cities alike. But for the Nightbringer, vengeance on his human foes is just the beginning. At his side, Commandant Keris Veturia declares herself Empress, and calls for the heads of any and all who defy her rule. At the top of the list? The Blood Shrike and her remaining family. Laia of Serra, now allied with the Blood Shrike, struggles to recover from the loss of the two people most important to her. Determined to stop the approaching apocalypse, she throws herself into the destruction of the Nightbringer. In the process, she awakens an ancient power that could lead her to victory--or to an unimaginable doom. And deep in the Waiting Place, the Soul Catcher seeks only to forget the life--and love--he left behind. Yet doing so means ignoring the trail of murder left by the Nightbringer and his jinn. To uphold his oath and protect the human world from the supernatural, the Soul Catcher must look beyond the borders of his own land. He must take on a mission that could save--or destroy--all that he knows.

I am not ready to let go of the characters. Helene was my favorite through this series. What an amazing character! I was happy how all the characters got their closure, the ending was brilliant.

This series is everything I love: dark, adventurous, creepy, touching. This was a bit slow first, the beginning & middle part made me to ponder if this could have been a bit shorter. But at the same time I enjoyed the journey so can't really complain.

I love a satisfying conclusion to a series! Enjoyed this sooo much and highly recommend my method: reread the first 3 books (listening on audio made it even better) before diving in. Helene +(no spoilers) 4eva 💔 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

FINALLY got the series finished! I love this world and the characters so much I'm almost sad that it's over. I listened to the audio...which I actually started months ago...and there was just so much going on in this installment that I'm sure a good reread in the future will be called for.

Fangirl here BUT I'll try to do this series justice. I'm blown away by Sabaa Tahir & her gorgeous mind, amazing characters, her writing's tone & tempo & all around Majesty. Steve West & Fiona Hardingham will FOREVER be Elias & Laia to me. The women showcase how to be both Woman & Warrior. ST writes loveable characters & then throws them into gut wrenching scenarios, killing them just when you've started to love them. I HIGHLY reccomend this series

A phenomenally satisfying end to the series. The threat of Keris & the Nightbringer looms, seemingly invincible & ever frightening. Yet Laia, Helene, & Elias have learned a great deal & bring that experience to their battles in a way that underscores the hope of their efforts instead of the bitterness of previous defeats. They emphasize fighting for love of their peoples, rather than resentment & hate for their foes. Action-packed, but also moving.

A satisfying conclusion to this series, but definitely harder to jump back in this time. I might have benefitted from a reread? That being said, I liked the additional perspectives and the way everything ended. I recommend the full Ember in the Ashes series to anyone who has not read them yet!

A great book and ending, but not my favorite in this series. Also hating Target stickers that won't come off easily! Such a huge pet peeve. 🤬 There was just something about this book. While I was very engaged it the story, I think there were too many POV changes too quickly. And I didn't like the Soul Catcher in this one as he was as much. Wanted more of who he should be. (Don't want to give away spoilers.) But a good one and end to this series.

I always found the Soul Catcher & Meherya really interesting & so I really enjoyed this as we get a lot of chapters dedicated to the Soul Catcher & Meherya
Again I find Laia annoying, so driven by her hate of the Night Bringer she doesnt see shes driven by the very same thing as the Night Bringer himself, hate & vengeance
This is satisfactorily brought to a conclusion Although there were some things a little too convenient & neat in the conclusion

IndyHannaJones Laia drove me nuts in this one 4y

I am not sure I am adequately ready to review a book that ends an era of one of my favorite series. Ember in the Ashes has never disappointed, not with one book. Sabaa Tahir successfully breaks my heart and puts it back together in the course of each book, and this one is no different, actually it is. She does it even better.

I can‘t put into words how satisfying and wonderful this book was. It was certainly worth the wait and is one of the best ending books to a series I have ever read. Sabaa Tahir takes her time developing the ending so that it feels wholly and completely right. Do not hesitate. Read this series. Read this book. Hold back the darkness.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This was a strong conclusion to a series I really enjoyed! Tahir is fearless as an author, pushing her characters to their limits over and over. Which, though hard to read, I appreciate her skill in doing. There were a lot of loose ends to tie up in this book,& Tahir did it without anything feeling too rushed or out of place. She managed to infuse hope and love into a story that culminated with & contained so much violence and heart break.

JudeCC Can‘t wait to read it!! 4y

~A Year In Books - Favorites of 2020~

Day 12: Favorite Book of December
A Sky Beyond the Storm - Sabaa Tahir

While I‘m actually still reading Kingdom of the Wicked, it‘ll likely be the last book I finish in the year. And A Sky Beyond the Storm would be on top of anything, excellent final book to an excellent series.

jackilynn I want to start that book soon but I am actually nervous to pick it up because I don't want the series to end. 4y

I impatiently waited for this book to come out this month, but once it did, I didn‘t remember the first three well enough, so I had to reread the whole series. Back-to-back, this was a great wrap up to all the storylines. Elias was always my favorite, so I was happy to see him get an ending he deserved. 10/10 will read this series again and again!

BookwormAHN I was also really happy he got a happy ending. Also if you like audiobooks the narrators are fantastic especially the one who voices Ellias 💙 4y

I bought my copy of An Ember in the Ashes at the Book Cellar‘s first YA fest right after moving into the city. I wasn‘t able to go to the signing due to moving tasks. I just picked up my preorder of A Sky Beyond the Storm and it‘s signed. Full circle. (No spoilers please I just picked up my copy and am still working through the Dragon Republic ‘cause I am reading slow right now.)
