Real Liddy James

so-so

This book has been sitting on my bookshelf for a couple of years and maybe I should have just left it there…the story was just bland to me as it focuses on a rich, overworked lawyer whose life falls apart after a few minor incidents. After the breakdown she travels to Ireland to find herself which was pretty much the only part of the book that was so so. There‘s a little bit of romance thrown in but even that was anticlimactic and blah.

I seldom abandon a book once I've committed my time but this might be the first. It's a good book but reading about a woman who isn't connecting with her kids and is a scrupulous divorce lawyer, just isn't sitting well. Just a case of wrong topic, wrong time.

I started this one this morning and I am already halfway through, it is light and funny but intelligent. The perfect palate cleanser after the dark world of Lionel Shriver. Casey also wrote NO ONE COULD HAVE GUESSED THE WEATHER which I really liked.
