Wow!! I really didn't think I could like this as much as the previous books in the series. I was 3/4 of the way through and wasn't convinced, and then I finished reading the book. 😳 This book is so great! Spies, clues, friends, Alan the dog, and a very well-written plot. I Love This Series!!

The 3rd book in the Thursday Murder Club series and just as good as the previous ones.

This time the gang looks into the murder of a young woman over 10 yrs ago who worked in TV. Naturally the cold case turns into not so cold.

I‘m ready for the next installment.

CoffeeNBooks I've been on the waiting list for this one and I finally got it from the library today! 2w

This isone of my favorite series and an automatic read for me. As we get more and more information on the characters, they become more like old friends I can't wait to visit. The central mystery is good, but is overshadowed by a subplot where Elizabeth is blackmailed into killing an old crime figure. I like how all the hardened criminals they meet actually turn into sweet guys. Realistic? Who knows, but definitely fun. Can't wait for the next one.

brittanythebookdragon I just finished this one last week! I LOVE this series and these characters! I never want it to end! 2w

The third in Richard Osman‘s bestselling THURSDAY MURDER CLUB SERIES is an absolute delight. Osman‘s lightness of touch carries the plot forward with a lot of humour while Ron and Ibrahim are fleshed out a lot more here than in the previous books. At the same time, Stephen‘s Alzheimer‘s is sensitively shown and is slowly becoming more heart breaking while the hint of a new Coopers Chase resident in the next book offers a lot of potential.

“Connie looks around Heather‘s cell. No family photos on the wall. A few prison library books on her desk. One is called Small Pleasures, and it has oranges on the cover”

I just love this, a male author promoting a fellow female author‘s work, especially a book that‘s been on the Women‘s Prize for Fiction Longlist.

jlhammar Yes, I loved this bit in The Bullet That Missed too! Especially since Small Pleasures is one of my favorite reads this year. Great choice, Osman! 3w

This series is such a delightful treat. I plowed right through it. The third book is outlandish and witty and introduces some memorable new characters. The audiobook narration is excellent and there's a cute interview with the author at the end. I highly recommend this whole series thus far if you like mysteries and British humor. I'm cheering on elderly protagonists!

Cozy cozy! This is a much rougher start then the previous two—it was harder for me to fall back in line with these characters but once I did, smooth sailing. I just love this group of elderly sleuths. There‘s lots of underlying messages about love & life, but it all lies on this foundation of found family, friendship & curiosity. (Maybe wine, as well.) I would not read this as a stand alone, must read the previous two. But you‘ll enjoy the ride!

Simona @Cinfhen I‘m loving The Bullet (will finish it today), but I‘m not sure about Marriage Portrait, because I saw in one review - accidentally - how it ends … and I have the feeling that end like this can be ‘problematic‘, in the sense if it looks convincing or not. 1mo

Just finished listening to the 3rd book in The Thursday Murder Club - another fun mystery. Elizabeth, Joyce and the gang have a new murder to investigate - the short chapters and the different points of view make such a compelling story . There‘s a great interview with the author at the end of the audiobook. Bogdan is still my favourite 💚🐉

tpixie Cute 🐱 and cool painting 🖼️ 1mo

Dragon @tpixie - I live in Victoria and the picture of the ferry ⛴ was taken on the Victoria side. The fall is usually lovely here although we‘ve had a drought so the rains may be coming soon. The doorway was a few blocks from Broadway- just after the high school on Trafalgar- W Broadway is a great walking street- more locals than tourists 💚🐉 1mo

Just look at this Octobery grid! There are six tbr‘s I‘m determined to read this month. None of those were my favorite because it‘s hard to beat the tagged!

5* = Loved It, want to shout out loud about this book! I do/will own/keep a physical copy. A+
4*= I liked it, would love to discuss. Solid B
3*=Meh, no need to discuss. Average C
2*=Nope D
1*=DNF F

LKK526 I haven‘t gotten to The Bullet That Missed but you persuaded me to get to it sooner. Your ratings are very helpful 2mo
marleed @LKK526 oh thank you. Those quarter points from an A+ to an F have really worked from me. There‘s a dangling quarter point between a solid 3 C Meh and a solid 4 B I liked it. I resolved by considering 3.25=C+ and 3.75=B- 3.5 is that sweet spot when I struggled between a pick and so-so. Works for me! 2mo
LKK526 @marleed I will look at your ratings when I‘m undecided. BTW I have read the 2 previous Thursday Murder Club book and adored them. Don‘t know why I am dragging my feet on this one. Right now slogging thru Two Nights in Lisbon which I got from library after months of waiting and actually forgot about so I feel obligated to finish🙄 2mo

I‘ve seen some criticisms of this series that say it is not realistic and deals with very serious issues in a flippant way. However, despite there being some truth to that, I find this series to explore some deeper questions about life, love, and good vs. evil. The fact that it manages to do that in a charming and funny way is a plus. I suspect the next in the series will bring more heartbreak, but I‘ll be there for it. #catsoflitsy

My oft complaint of a book is too many characters in a story, so there‘s every reason to expect this entire series would not be up my alley, but I love it! The four MC‘s stole my heart in book1 and the supporting characters (Kendrick, Connie, Heather, Pauline, Mike, Viktor, Henrik, JoAnne, Stephen, Bogdon, Jack, Bethany, Patrice, Chris, Jason, Fiona, Andrew…) are just a pile of fun. And oh yeah, there‘s murders to both solve and escape!

Librariana I like that description - "a pile of fun" ? Glad you've enjoyed them and the series! 2mo

Got a whopping 5,566 points for #scarathlon #teamslaughter (mostly due to 517 #wordsearch words - with 3 hours, 5 thons, a #promptmaze prompt (F2 - there's a kiss 💋), and 14 calander prompts)

Do you ever read books and get a sense that the author must just be a lovely person solely based on the characters they create? I know nothing about Richard Osman, but I'm certain I'd adore him because you could not be anything but charming and write like he does in these books. I'm nearly done with TBTM, and it's just as delightful as the first two.

gossamerchild I've been hearing so many good things about this series, and only just recently. I think I'm going to have to pick them up. This is a great endorsement of the write! 2mo

Balibee146 @Traci1 the best feeling when you discover more books. I must read some of them too. I'm the same about twitter lol I've mostly seen him on his quiz think "House of Games" and "Pointless" on the BBC at teatime lol. He's a very knowledgeable but humble seeming man ? 2mo
Traci1 @Balibee146 I'm going to have to see if I can find some of these to stream. Living in the US, we only get BBC America, which for some reason always seems to be playing things like Star Trek and Law and Order. 🤷‍♀️ 2mo

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Third book in the series & absolutely so good. This series never disappoints. I wish I had had a full day to sit down & read this in one sitting. Somehow with each story I find myself laughing out loud, gasping in shock, and tearing up - sometimes all in the same short chapter.
My only complaint, and this has nothing to do with the story itself, is the change of audiobook narrator from the first two.Highly, highly recommend this series.

Another wonderful visit to the residents of Cooper‘s Chase, and another twisty-turny murder to solve.

I didn‘t guess the perpetrator of course; I never do!

We also met at least one new character who I think will stay on to the next book, and the existing characters and their relationships continued to develop nicely.

Another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read from Mr Osman!
