I‘m having so much fun with this series! A little more gritty than your usual cozy mystery, but with the best cast of characters. What can I say—I‘m a sucker for a bunch of irreverent senior citizens

3.5 Stars • In The Bullet That Missed (Thursday Murder Club 3) by Richard Osman, the four elderly friends—Elizabeth, Joyce, Ron, and Ibrahim—investigate the decade-old disappearance of journalist Bethany Waites, who uncovered fraud before vanishing. Their probe into a money-laundering scheme and a shady TV producer stirs danger, while Elizabeth faces a threat from her MI5 past. ⬇️

Another very fun entry into the series, but also a very poignant one. Amidst many of our favorite characters falling or remaining happily in love--except poor Joyce, who probably wants it more than anyone--devoted friendship is the true core of the story. Made me laugh and brought tears to my eyes, what more can you ask for.

It's nice to remember he's good at this sort of thing. At reading people. At understanding trouble, and redirecting it. He likes Connie, and she likes him. Although one has to be careful: she is a ruthless killer and, without wishing to be judgemental about it, that is fairly bad.

3rd Osman read with Kitkat, my clingy bully who hogs the bed 📖🎧🐕

A busy month of reading! I'm theming my reading for my children's literature class this summer around texts by authors/illustrators with disabilities or about characters with disabilities, hence the Auggie & Me as the follow up to Wonder. And for fun, I'm in #SeriesLove with the Thursday Murder Club!

This series beers better with each book because you just love the gang. The main plot follows a TV journalist who went missing and was believed to be murdered. Highlights were the introduction of former KGB agent Victor and a few of the characters finding love. I care less about the mystery than what is happening in their personal lives.

I still like the characters, they are really adorable. I could have spent more time with them.
The book was cozy, but the mystery was a bit incoherent. Some things were also unbelievable.
Fun & light read.

Another Richard Osman raced through in a day 🙂 I feel like I like each one more than the last! Such an enjoyable distraction.

I'm absolutely loving this series because the characters seem like old friends. This was a perfect escape when I needed it most. The plot was just as twisty as the first two and the side characters are just as great as the main four.

I wasn‘t sure with the first book in this series but I‘m so glad I continued because I‘ve grown incredibly fond of this gang. The mysteries are fun enough, but the real strength of this series lies in the humour and the genuine empathy Osman has for his characters and the beauty, and the losses, of aging. The characters are real - with all the same fears and longings that transcend age. I am very much looking forward to the next one.

(2022) I ear-read this on audiobook during a long drive. The story is a hoot, and Fiona Shaw is a terrific narrator.
Book #3 in the Thursday Murder Club series. This was a fun one! All the gang is there plus a few more memorable characters and a rollercoaster of a mystery to untangle.

Is it just me or does this series just keep getting better and better? This one was so funny, the plot was very well constructed and I just really enjoyed the glimpses of all the new relationships.
My August #BookSpin and progress for #SeriesLove2024

Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron are back with a new case involving the disappearance of a local TV personality 10 years ago. The gang keeps growing as each member brings friends and enemies into the fold. The case has a lot of twists and turns and romance is afoot, but each member remains true to themselves. TBTM is endearing, funny and sad at 3+⭐️.

Another brilliant Thursday Murder Club installment 👍❤️🦊

The gang‘s all here for another heartwarming murder mystery. Can‘t get enough of these books and this was my favourite in the series so far. Not my usual cup of tea but for some reason these just really work. Rolling straight into the next one.

Another great installment of this mystery series revolved around a group of retirees who live to solve unsolved crimes. I‘m apprehensive about the next book, as I think our hearts are going to be broken. I definitely recommend this series. 4.25⭐️

Number 3 in the Thursday Murder Club is my favorite so far. I just love the cast of characters and the snarky humor, combined with a good mystery and so much heart ❤️ This is my January ##Doublespin @TheAromaofBooks

My first 6 of 2024. All enjoyable, but a few were underwhelming. The Bullet That Missed cemented my love for The Thursday Murder Club series. The Push will stay with me for a long time. Mythos was so well done…I just don‘t like Greek myths it turns out, however accessibly written they are.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My final read for 2023. Looking forward to diving into my #AuldLangSpine read tomorrow.
Happy New Year, #Littens 💜

Another brilliant installment in The Thursday Murder Club series. I can tell that in the next book, we will start to see the beginning of the end for some. It makes me sad. In the meantime, though, there is murder, mystery, money, mayhem, and more for the Club. Together, they are remarkable and I love their accumulation of new “members”. May they live long and prosper. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We went camping this weekend and I got to finish this lovely book by the fire. I love this gang so much! I kept giggling to myself and was getting strange looks from the friends we were with 😅
The mystery was just as riveting and, combined with the short chapters, I blew through this story to find out how it ended.

It seems like everyone has moved on to book 4, and I'm slowly limping along behind. Oh well, these are about (fictional) cold cases anyway! This one was another delight. 💚
This was my #bookspin for October. @TheAromaofBooks

This has been my favorite of the series so far. 4.5 ⭐

I thoroughly enjoyed this third book in the series. Great plotting, engaging characters and Osman‘s dry sense of humour. A cosy, comforting read with a fun puzzle to keep you guessing. Skilfully done. I highly recommend if you like murder mysteries with a British sensibility.

Third in the series. Another great instalment! Such fun and entertaining reads with fantastic characters. Looking forward to the fourth book!

“If you are disappointed with your face, eventually it shows.“

Reading this with my local book group. We‘re reading two books this time as we‘re not meeting again until the end of September. I loved the first two in the Thursday Murder Club series so hopefully I will very much enjoy this one, the third, too.

Thursday Murder Club books are getting better and better :)
Quirky, funny, delightful and witty. The writing is great, the characters are interesting and the story is full of feel-good vibes :)
I really enjoy this series and can't wait for the next installment “The Last Devil to Die“

An epic third installment! I‘m so excited for whenever the fourth is coming out!
Osman makes me laugh and cry in the span of a sentence. I feel like in this book especially, the message is really that people will surprise you, often for the better, so don‘t underestimate them. We also added some new characters to the gang that I love equally now!

The gang are investigating the cold case of a journalist who apparently drove off a cliff into the sea while working on uncovering a VAT scam. CCTV captured an image of someone in the car with her on the way to the cliff but who?
My heart did sink a bit when one of the baddies from the previous book put in an appearance in this book because I don't like recurring villains but actually it was very well done. Can't wait for the next one.

I‘m excited to try #BookSpinBingo for July! It‘s likely that I will just read the books I‘m most drawn to regardless, but I love the fun of anticipating the bingo board 🤭 This is a month where I have a lot of free time (in theory) so I hope that means lots more reading! @TheAromaofBooks

Finished on Thursday last, so fitting for the Thursday Murder Club. I‘m late to the party with this series as my new work colleague recommended it 2 months ago & I‘ve now binged the 3 available books & can‘t wait for the 4th. The books have me chuckling one minute, trying to outsmart these lovable pensioners the next minute & finally tearing up with all the emotions. In this one, the crew is working on a cold case while Elizabeth is faced with ⬇️

#VolumesAndVocals
Maybe it‘s because this series is a recent fave (I binged the first two books & my hold for the third tagged book just came in & I‘m trying to clear reading space for it this week), but I feel the core four elderly friends in the Thursday Murder Club have a definite #StandByMe vibe with each other & the friends they have picked up along the way.
They have each other‘s back “Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me…” ❤️

The Thursday Murder Club stories are pure fun and I can‘t wait for the next one. This, the third in series, has a twisted plot, and the final reveals are almost ridiculously complicated but it works! I have always loved the Greek chorus role played by Joyce‘s diary entries. The other members of the gang are all here, although their lives are changing. When we lose Stephen, literally or mentally, it will break my heart. This again, is a must read!

The Osman magic continues! Considering the unbroken streak of three books as good or better than each of their predecessors, I hope this is a long running series...eagerly awaiting my library's acquisition of the latest.
Such compassion in how people are viewed and treated, flaws and all, and yet, chock full of dangerous hijinks! 1/2

5-20-23: My 55th finished book of 2023! Book 3 of this fabulous series. The Thursday Murder Club is back! This time around they are joined by a KGB colonel, a Viking, a chief constable who fancies himself a writer, a TV host and his makeup woman, Alan the dog. 10 years ago, Bethany Waites was murdered but the case was never solved. Leave it up to this gang to figure it out. Full of heart and laughter as usual. Can‘t wait for book 4!
Another fabulous fun read from Osman. Exciting, endearing, weirdly realistic and thoroughly bonkers in its British humour. Can't wait for the next one!

Another excellent book in the Thursday Murder Club series. Took me a while to get into this one (possibly my mood rather than the book) but loved the way it came together at the end and the twists. Good couple of new characters added for this book, I hope they appear in the next one.
#SeriesLove2023 @TheSpineView

This was a hard pick for me, A Court of Silver Flames and Black Cale were both really amazing too. But I love to have a month that is choose!

I read so many books from #MountTBR in March! While I enjoyed them all, The Bullet that Missed (signed, from @larkandowlbooksellers ) and Black Cake were my favorites. Some great #botm books too!

The Thursday Murder Club take an interest in two murders, ten years apart. Elizabeth is given a mission…kill or be killed. She contemplates what to do and with the support of her best friends, local TV stars and ex KGB, can the new mystery be solved before it‘s too late?
When reading cosy mysteries they can be dull and lack excitement but this story is action packed throughout. A wonderful set of characters, british humour and full of quirkiness.
