I think this book was even better than the first. I‘m really getting into this series. I love the whole Charlotte as Sherlock premise; her personality is way better than the original. She‘s really coming into her own as a detective. #SeriesLove2024 @TheSpineView @Andrew65

As "Sherlock Holmes, consulting detective", aided by Mrs. Watson, she has had great success helping with all manner of inquiries, but she is not prepared for the new client who arrives at her Upper Baker Street office. Lady Ingram, wife of Charlotte's dear friend and benefactor, wants Sherlock Holmes to find her first love, who failed to show up at their annual rendezvous.

#readAway2024 #SeriesLove2024 I enjoyed the relationships in this book, maybe because there are no developing relationships in Arthur Conan Doyle‘s Sherlock Holmes tales. I did have difficulty following Charlotte‘s train of thought in the deductions she made, which is pretty much the way I feel about the original Holmes.

TheSpineView Fantastic! 9mo
DieAReader 🥳Awesome!! It definitely kept me on my toes🤣❤️‍🔥 9mo
CatLass007 @DieAReader The first three books are free on Audible right now. We read the first one for #PemberLittens #JaneAdjacent, so that was my motivation for reading it finally and then I had to see what happened next. When I finish the next book I‘ll have to start making decisions about buying the next book. 9mo

I have been all over the place picking a new read #thestruggleisreal 2/3 buddy reads are a struggle bus ( yes The Brothers Karamazov and The Golden Notebook I am talking about YOU!) Emma of 83rd Street is light and fluffy. I need something good but not too thought provoking, something compelling but fun. Here we go with the next in a series from a buddy read ( please forgive me TBR stacks in my house, it‘s a library read)

CatLass007 I enjoyed the first book in the series. I haven‘t read this one yet but I think I‘ll continue to listen to the series. It would be great if it‘s available via Libby and I don‘t have to spend money I don‘t have. 9mo
CatLass007 It looks like the first 7 books in the series are available. Plus, the 8th book hasn‘t been released yet. Yay. (edited) 9mo
DieAReader @CatLass007 That‘s Awesome!! So glad you found them😏📚❤️‍🔥 9mo
CatLass007 Thanks! The first three books are included with my Audible subscription, which is how I got interested in the series. 9mo
CatLass007 Another mystery series with a female investigator and which takes place in the Victorian era is by Laura Joh Rowland. The first book in the series is The Ripper‘s Shadow. We read it for #WhodunitTheSequel and I was a little skeptical, but it was good. I‘m getting ready to listen to the 6th book in the series. There are only seven books so far, but here‘s hoping. The Wrexford and Sloane mysteries by Andrea Penrose are another good series. 9mo
DieAReader @CatLass007 🤓📚Thanks! I‘ll look into those for sure😏 9mo
CatLass007 The more books on the ever growing wish list. 9mo

I absolutely love this series. I adore Charlotte Holmes as Sherlock. This book just added to my love of the characters in this series. I also really liked that Olivia has started writing and can‘t wait to see how that story line will continue. Its refreshing to see that all the women in this series are extremely interesting, intelligent and talented. It has a great mystery, beloved characters and potential love stories. A perfect mix for me.

#ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024

After reading the first book in the Lady Sherlock series with the #PemberLittens #JaneAdjacent readalong, I had to read the second & now I fear I might be hooked on a new series! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I‘m not even that much of a Sherlock Holmes fan but I find Charlotte Holmes & her friends quite delightful. In this one, the mystery hits close to home & the focus is more on Charlotte‘s investigation as Inspector Treadles remains ⬇️

DebinHawaii … disgruntled at Holmes & his wife. I do think I enjoyed this book & how it‘s setting up future plot even more than the first. Although these mysteries are so involved I can‘t quite seem to figure all the twists out (not good for my ego), book 3 is available through my library Libby so I am sneaking it in. Start with book 1: (edited) 10mo

I‘m beginning to think I have a penchant for historical novels featuring women in unconventional roles. This series featuring Charlotte Holmes and Mrs Watson solving mysteries and tangling with the so far elusive Moriarty is very good. I‘ll be continuing, especially considering not one but two surprises I did not come close to guessing. I love when an author makes me gasp! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Book 2 in the Lady Sherlock series is another pick. The deeper I get into this series the more I‘m enjoying it. I love the twist of Sherlock actually being a woman. I think Charlotte is a badass and I like that she is so unusual. It‘s refreshing. I‘d highly recommend this series! 4⭐️

Deeply invested. I am deeply invested in this series, these characters. It‘s affecting me on a personal level. Gushing aside, these books are actually quite complex in terms of side characters and I find myself flicking back to check who people are on occasion. But gosh, I do love this series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

MallenNC I love this series! My cover doesn‘t show her face, so this is interesting to see. 3y

I‘m not sure why I wasn‘t going to continue this series. I really liked the first book but then didn‘t add the next to my TBR.

This book is right in my wheelhouse. A historical mystery and a Sherlock Holmes twist.

Definitely adding the next to my TBR.

This is the second in the Lady Sherlock series, and while it was fine, I think I preferred the first. This one was a bit harder to keep up with the twists/turns/characters. And one thing I found distracting was the abrupt changes in locales and also the multiple cases presented. I find with this series that I really have to read closely to catch every nuance. I‘m still getting used to Charlotte and her eccentricities, but she‘s growing on me, 🔻

robinb and I do plan to continue in this series. 4/5⭐️
This was my June #bookspin as well as my first completed book in the #JoysOfJune.

TheAromaofBooks Yay!! I think sometimes the second book can stutter a little as an author tries to figure out how to build/develop characters for more of a long haul!

I‘m marking this as a pick, but I thought a long time about it. I did not enjoy this as much as the first in the series. The characters are great, the writing is wonderful, but the plot was Byzantine, and I felt deflated by the somewhat head-scratching ending. The picture has absolutely nothing to do with the book, but a picture of our friends‘ garden when we stayed with them in England. We were supposed to visit again in July 😢

Crazeedi So disappointing , our trip to lake was canceled too😥 5y

This series if fast becoming my 'go-to' when I'm craving a fun read. It's well written, with a wide cast of interesting characters, and just the right amount of nodded reverence to the original! A superb reimagining of Sherlock and Watson - with the appearance of London fog for good measure!

DGRachel I keep thinking I need to try this series... 5y

Not much reading for me today. I didn't really watch the game, and evidently didn't miss much. Normally I read, but this year I did laundry and helped my oldest with his science fair project display poster. The kid did not inherit my crafting gene, and can't be bothered to cut a straight line. So, I've been his proofreader and artistic consultant.😄 Stole about an hour with this book tonight before night night time. I'm really liking this series.
