"Dawn Schiff is strange. At least, everyone at work thinks so. She never says the right thing. She has no friends. And she is always at her desk at precisely 8:45 a.m. So when Dawn doesn't show up to the office one morning, her coworker Natalie Farrell-beautiful, popular, top sales rep five years running-is surprised. Then she receives an unsettling, anonymous phone call that changes everything... Now, Natalie is irrevocably tied to Dawn as she finds herself caught in a twisted game of cat and mouse that leaves her wondering: who's the real victim? But one thing is incredibly clear: somebody hated Dawn Schiff. Enough to kill."--

I finished this in mid March & I really enjoyed it! It may have been a little wrong & one of the twists was predictable for me, but still plenty of twists & surprises! Another of McFadden‘s that I highly recommend!

Like bubblegum for the brain. I blasted through this in a day. Twists and turns but a little cheesy

Freida McFadden certainly has the thriller genre in her hands. The characters in this book were not very likable. Yet the book was a page turner. I give it 4/5 rating.

Starting off 2024 strong with Freida McFadden. The book was a gift from a coworker and the beautiful scarf is from a dear friend. #1of2024

This wasn‘t great. It was a bit interesting, but I got really sick of hearing about turtles (you‘ll see if you read the book). This book was just meh.

lindarebello24 I know what you mean. I just finished this and I've had my fill of turtle information. A bit more info about cerebral palsy instead would have been better. 4mo

What a thrill ride! Masterful storytelling that will keep you wondering which end is up. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The attached picture is a blurb written by the author that followed her acknowledgements. It was too funny not to share. 😆

Rarely do I read a book and dislike all the characters. 😩This book was one of those times. It was an ok read and my first by this author. I am not sure if I‘ll read any others by her.💁🏽‍♀️

Margot0817 I read her book The Teacher yesterday. It was my first by her and it was insane! Brought me to this book and this one is just meh. If you're willing to try her again try The Teacher. 1mo
S3V3N @Margot0817 This was my first read by her. I will check out The Teacher, especially since I‘m a teacher.☺️ 1mo

Boy, I didn't want to put this one down. It had twists in it. I did not expect what happened to happen. If you like psychological thrillers, you should read The Coworker. McFadden looked at a serious subject with this one: bullying. It doesn't just happen to kids, it happens to adults too.

Freida McFadden writes books that keep your attention and make you want to know what happens at the end. And then you forgot about them. This story is about socially dysfunctional Dawn and beautiful Natalie who has it all. They work together, but what is their real connection? And what about the two men in their lives? If it was still summer I would call this a beach read.

This was an easy read that I sped through in a handful of hours. We have two polar opposite coworkers, both unreliable narrators, as you try to determine who is telling the truth. The “who” didn‘t surprise me, but the “how” & “why” was exciting to unfold. There are blurry lines and questions of morality, and McFadden does a good job of keeping it entertaining throughout. Although we could have pulled back on “turtles” as a personality trait!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was my first book by this author. I enjoyed that it‘s set in an office environment, with two women who could hardly be more different. It had some twists that kept it interesting and the pacing was great. I‘m definitely interested in picking up more of her books!

My first McFadden and this book is filled with lots of twists and turns! Truly an engaging read right from the start, so intense and kept me turning the pages! The ending was not what I‘ve expected as I thought it would be more blood curdling 😅

Oh well, this is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me. Thanks to Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this early copy!

Another 🖤 by Frieda. Loved her characterization of the two polar opposite coworkers Natalie and Emma, who sit side by side until the twists begin. Loved the flashbacks and use of time. As usual…great suspense up to the very end.

Fantastic fast paced thriller. I did manage to figure out one of the twists right away, but was pleased to have a couple unpredicted shocking revelations as the story came to its conclusion . #suspense #thriller #freidamcfadden #bookreview

Super excited to pickup a book and find one of the main characters is neurodivergent. A few chapters in and I think I‘ve figured out the twist, but I‘m hoping to end up being wrong in the end #thriller #neurodivergent #freidamcfadden #suspense

Dawn and Natalie work for the same nutritional company. Dawn is autistic but Natalie is not. Dawn is always on time but doesn't show up for work one morning. Natalie is surprised and receives a phone call that changes everything. Natalie is irrevocably tied to Dawn as she finds herself caught in a twisted game of cat and mouse that leaves her wondering: who's the real victim?

EadieB But one thing is incredibly clear: somebody hated Dawn Schiff. Enough to kill. This is another great psychological thriller by Freida McFadden. As the plot thickens, Natalie is arrested for her murder. Turns and twists galore and Freida has me guessing to the very end. I am now looking forward to the next McFadden book as she is an excellent writer. If you like mystery with your psychological thrillers then you will love this book. 8mo

It kept me guessing at the end! I enjoyed Ward D and was thrilled to see a new novel coming out from Freida McFadden!

Dawn & Natalie are co-workers. You‘re thrown into the deep end & have to play catch-up. Bullies are bullies?

There‘s a time shift back in forth, a supportive BF, a bully of a detective, a boss that‘s cheating on his wife, a dead plain Jane & everything points at Natalie. Buried secrets will unbury.
