Mad Weekend | Roddy Doyle
16 posts | 1 read
A story of male friendship, sometimes gone astray. Dave, Pat and Ben have been best friends since they were kids. They do everything together, and they all love their dear Liverpool football club. On a trip to see their favorite team in action, they have a few too many drinks before the match. Dave and Pat get busy chatting up two local girls. Suddenly it's time to leave for the game. But where is Ben?

Hello Stranger by Lisa Kleypas
How to Marry a Werewolf by Gail Carriger
📙📚 I like both. Series is nice because I can really get to know the characters and the world.

- Definitely The Babysitter‘s Club. There‘s like 130 of them not including the mysteries or vacation ones. As an adult probably Harry Potter
- Oh, several.. I doubt I‘ll ever finish Game of Thrones or Court of Thorns and Roses series.
- Depends. If I know someone who would like it I‘ll pass it along though I don‘t have a lot of friends who read much.
- Nope.

1. Stephanie Plum, my little bit of fluff
2. Stephanie Plum, lol. I actually decided to give it up after the book before the most recent.
3. Generally I borrow from the library, so I have to "pass it on." But if I've purchased it, it depends on how much I liked it.
4. Nope.
#weekendchat @CSeydel

JoScho I felt the same about Stephanie Plum. I almost wondered if Evanovich was still doing the writing. I haven‘t read the last few. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa I completely agree with #1 & 2 6y
tonyahoswalt @JoScho @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I started Stephanie Plum with the audiobooks and thought they were so fun. Then I switched over to books, and after a while they got to be repetitive and kind of tedious. 6y
See All 6 Comments
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @tonyahoswalt Exactly my thoughts, I think the earlier audiobooks worked for both of us because they were also heavily abridged too, but even then they got really repetitive for me. 6y
tracey38 My mom loves the Stephanie Plum books and has been on my case to try them. 6y
tonyahoswalt @tracey38 They were fun at first, but then it was just the same old stuff 6y

✨So I figured after the week I had, the weekend is finally here and everything will be alright. Wronnnng. ? Barnes and Noble decided to cancel all my standing orders (at least five pre-orders) because their system "failed". It's not REALLY a big deal (I can reorder everything), but it's definitely an inconvenience I didn't wanna deal with. ?
✨Giveaway winners.. I'm waiting on a few things to come in, then I'll be mailing them off to you! ???

TheBookDream Ugh. After the Monday firing a couple weeks back I expect they‘re on their way out. 6y
abbsinwonderland @TheBookDream Oh yes... Definitely. I seen that and figured it wouldn't be much longer. 😭 6y

ElleSkel @YouReadMyEyes thank you! Right now I am finishing up my undergrad in Gen Studies - graduate 🎓 this May what wHaat!!- but I am headed to grad school for library science. 🤓 6y
YouReadMyEyes @Elle_Skeldon Congratulations that‘s fantastic! Gen studies, what a cool major. 6y
ElleSkel @YouReadMyEyes Thanks! Yeah it‘s just general studies so it is a customized plan , my focus is in Communications/Public Relations but I liked the flexibility of choosing what interests me most. The library science masters program does not require a specific undergrad major so I am taking advantage! (edited) 6y
YouReadMyEyes @Elle_Skeldon OH! I‘m a ding dong, thought it meant gender studies. Lol 😂 I can see how that flexibility let‘s you pick different classes you‘re interested in - that‘s awesome. 6y
ElleSkel @YouReadMyEyes that was my bad not yours! I actually chose General Studies because they did not offer a full Gender studies program online. So it‘s a bit fitting that you thought that is what I meant. I wish! 6y

Reviewsbylola I think my mom but idk. I always loved to read. And I also think maybe reading was a comfort from the constant anxiety I‘ve always had. 6y
bookloo @bentchbites 😍 I love this! My mom grew up the same way; whenever Scholastic book fair came around she told me “Go crazy!” ☺️ 6y
bookloo @DebbieGrillo Haha!! Do you remember the books? 😝 6y

[DELETED] 3803335244 My high school history teacher. He challenged me to read a huge book, and I did it! He & his wife were a huge influence on my life. 6y
tournevis I don't remember a time when I did not want to read. Some of my first memories are of me at 2 frustrated that I can't make out the words in the magazines my parents read. 6y
DogearedJes I really struggled with reading when I was first learning, I had to have extra tutoring because I was behind everyone in class. But once it finally clicked, I couldn't stop reading. So I guess it was overcoming the challenge that really got me into reading. 6y
moranadatter My mom, I think. I was really young. 6y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks My dad! He used to read to me every night before bedtime ❤️ 6y
vivastory My mom. When I was in elementary school she'd let me order a couple of books each week from the scholastic catalog. Their arrival was the highlight of my week! 6y
bookloo @vivastory Are we the same person??? My mom did the exact same thing! I would run home and show her the catalogue and she would tell me to circle all the ones I wanted...then we‘d narrow it down to 2-3 because she was a single parent. ☺️ It was great and I love her for it. ❤️ 6y
vivastory @bookloo The wait made it even more special. It was one of the best things my mom ever did for me. 6y
