What a great comic can‘t wait to read Volume 2 🍽️
What a great comic can‘t wait to read Volume 2 🍽️
Detective Chew gets psychic impressions from whatever he eats. Eating an apple might bring images of an orchard, what kind of pesticide was used. Eating bacon might bring images of slaughter. And being a detective brings the unique opportunity to eat...well...evidence. And bodies. Dead or alive.
This definitely puts the “graphic“ in “graphic novel“. How am I only hearing about this series now?!
Sure it was 14 degrees and it was snowing, the wind blowing it in my face there and back, but it‘s Wednesday which means new comics and a walk to the comics shop this morning! Love #Ncbd! Especially when there‘s a new Darth Vader—Pak‘s writing is fabulous and this run is excellent. Excited to see what Radiant Black is all about. I picked up the tagged trade on a whim. Everything else is ongoing and sure to be entertaining.
The art was good and the story sounded interesting but really it was too gross for my tastes.
Finally finished the last 3 Chew graphic novels, and thoroughly enjoyed how everything was wrapped up, but damn, those feels ...
I thought Chew was interesting, especially since the main character investigates illegal chicken. The Captain America volume was ok. I liked the story but I didn't like how the characters were portrayed.
The final installment of the series, and I‘m sad to reach the conclusion. They weren‘t kidding about all the major character deaths. But the heavy foreshadowing didn‘t make it any less brutal. Tony figures out the “secret recipe” to save the world, but at a great personal cost.
Tony goes head to head with his nemesis Savoy, in this penultimate installment. He tries not to get manipulated by Savoy‘s tactics, but in the surprise end this proves to be unavoidable. The chicken conspiracy, the fire writing in the sky, and Amelia‘s manuscript are all connected in some way, and Tony must play by Savoy‘s rules in order to get to the truth.
I felt the storyline of this one was treading water a bit. A rag tag group of FDA agents attempt to take down the Vampire without Tony. But we already know that only Tony can kill the Vampire, so it fails. Great art like the previous volumes though.
Another great pick for #freakyfriday!!!
Interesting art and story. I found the middle bit a little slow but I‘m looking forward to reading the next volume.
Decided to give this a shot. My boyfriend read it when I first got it sent to me from the wonderful @TricksyTails and he really liked it so I figured I'd read it tonight.
I actually really enjoyed it! A few dog scenes I could have done without, but what a unique and interesting story. Did not see the twists coming at all!
Thank you so much @TricksyTails for introducing us to this graphic novel!!!! 🤗💗

Agent Tony Chu, a detective for the FDA, has a special ability. He gets a psychic impression from whatever he ingests. Chu is on the case of the weird, funny, and absurd storyline that includes a ban on chicken following a bird flu pandemic that may or may not be a government conspiracy. I will definitely be continuing on with this series.
Kept seeing these around Litsy. Looked interesting, so giving it a try.
I don‘t know what to say about this book except that the ending was fan-damn-tastic.
Starting the final volume of CHEW this morning. I don‘t really want to read it because a) I don‘t want the story to end and, b) I‘m afraid bad things will happen to more people. But I‘m diving in.
Mason Savoy was a great character. Too bad he won‘t be in the final volume.
Hard to read when both fur babies are all looooveee meeee! 😂🐶❤🐱 #muchlove #oliveoil #bentleyboo #catsoflitsy #dogsoflitsy
POYO just gets me!🐓😁🙌#100percent #muchlove #poyoforpresident
It‘s an interesting premise. And the story moves at a fast pace.
Not for the squeamish! Contains violence and some gross food choices 🤣
Will definitely look out for vol 2
Got this awesome humble bundle today!
2 comics - Chew Vol1 and Bobs Burgers Medium Rare
Plus geeky cookbooks, quirky drinks, and historical treats.
Humble bundle often have great book deals on as well as the games they are better known for. Definitely worth checking out :)
Interesting concept. It got off to a slow start. Hoping vol 2 picks up.
Ok, this book is super gross, but it's interesting. I can't see how sustainable this premise is, but I might check out the next book or 2. Between a pick and so-so.
I think this covers both #bloodydisgusting and #nomnomnom Definitely made me cringe

🛤El & I are going to tackle this graphic stack today 😁🍽♥️
I thought this was great!! I was worried it would be gross but it wasn't. I'm going to read the next one now! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Pretty fun book. Tony gets visions from food, and he uses that ability to solve crimes. Reminded me a bit of iZombie, but grosser, since he is not a zombie. I will continue this series. Some clunky exposition at first, but overall I liked it.
I've been hearing good things about this series for years and I finally decided to give it a go. It's as enjoyable as it is unusual. It's quirky and a bit off kilter but it has a solid story with some intrigue and mystery, and the art is fantastic. I'm glad I grabbed the second volume this week. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was an interesting story, if you like your stories on the grotesque side. Sometimes I don‘t mind grotesque, and this was one of those times. This graphic novel is plot-driven, and the main character is not yet fully developed, but what a plot! Cannibalism, what may or may not be avian flu, murdered space aliens, a vampire, betrayal, and a cliffhanger that leaves you wondering what happens next... Interesting enough to keep me reading!
Bedtime reading!
I am ready for the Vampire storyline to be over... still, this was fun!
•Morbid humour is fantastic.
•Love the satirical jabs at crime drama tropes.
•Interesting & fucked up cases.
•Makes me wanna be vegetarian haha.
•Funky & unique characters.
•Noir-cartoon visuals compliment both the setting/atmosphere & plot.
•Great first volume.
•4.25/5

Time for a bit o' comic reading!! Diving into Volume 1 of Chew. Have heard great and gross things alike haha.

Nothing for weak stomachs. Strong first volume, makes me want to keep on going.
I was looking for another graphic novel series that preferably is available on Hoopla. This might fit the bill... so far so good!
The incorporation and obsession of food into the crime drama genre is creative and so perfectly weird. It's gross and fantastic and remarkably investing, and the constant contrast of extremes is a fun theme to explore.
Finally, a graphic novel series that I want to continue with! Really enjoyed this first instalment, though it is pretty gruesome! 🤢
My fave comic series is over but at least I'll always have these little tiny action figures (and the 12 trade volumes, but still).

This was an amazingly fun read filled with crazy ideas that worked so well! Please read this!!
Chew vol 1
Another #trainreading finished 👍 And I gotta say that I both enjoyed and was disgusted (not in a bad way, I think) by this volume 😅 The protagonist fricken injests crime scenes for insight - so of course it's gonna be not-yummy 🤢😆 hahahah 😂
I definitely want to read the next installment...but hopefully with a cup of ginger tea. That, or the actual train ride is making me nauseous 😞

Chew vol 1
A detective who can sense psychic connections by eating things...it's so odd that how I can NOT try it out? 😆 Hahahahhahaha!!!!!
