A very short biography. I appreciated his message of humility serving the poor. In Argentina and throughout the world. I'm glad I took the time to read it. #Italy #FoodandLit #Jubilee @Texreader @Catsandbooks Also P #LitsyAtoZ

A highly-readable, well -researched book about Catholics in Elizabethan and Jacobean England. It carries lessons we still need today about religious tolerance and the dangers of state involvement in matters of conscience. #letterG #LitsyAtoZ & #doublespin @TheAromaofBooks @Texreader

I loved this book so much. There is not much dialogue. Pure action and integrity in the hearts of two young boys of Shoshone heritage. I loved the loose magical realism with the telepathy of the natives. The trickery and the development of the two separate personalities were just simply delightful. The time with the Roma. I could go on and on. My only wish is I want to read it in it's original language. #LitsyAtoZ @Texreader

Texreader Yay!! On my tbr for a long time. Glad to hear this! I assume original language is Spanish? I‘ve been studying it again. I had four years in high school and college but of course remembered little. So I‘m studying it again. It‘d be great if I could get proficient enough to read novels in Spanish! 27m
Butterfinger @Texreader it is spanish. I have tried several times to learn, and I just can't get my head wrapped around it. The way Allende writes, I know I am missing the poetic beauty of her writing. The translation is beautiful. Don't get me wrong. 10m

So much better than the last one! Thank goodness for no exploding oranges or exotic animals! Nancy and the gang are embroiled in a treasure hunt of sorts, with adventures that feature spooky houses, shifty people, and kidnapping galore. Fun, breezy read. #NancyDrewBR

So sorry for the late reminder, but discussion is Thursday in the AM US East Coast time!

BarkingMadRead So much better! 4d

Ruthiella Yes, this one is getting back to the vibe of some of the earlier books. 4d
Sace I‘m finishing up this evening and yes, it‘s better than the exploding oranges! And there was a Nancy Noggin Knock Out! 4d

Angie really annoyed me in this one! But, I don‘t think I‘d get along with Angie in real life, so props to Mel! 😂

Mel owes a former college friend a favor, and she is on the hunt for the real murderer. Lots of cupcakes, some shady business, and a real humdinger of a cliffhanger. Glad to see this series has picked up again! #LitsyAToZ #LetterC

At first I thought, cool a brother and sister duo hunting ghosts - a bit of a Supernatural vibe.
I truly tried to like this.
The main issue was I did not like Harper at all, she's whiny, self-scented and so needy.
The other thing is the story felt forced, and abnormal. Focusing on unnecessary details, while leaving important issues behind for no real reason other than to prolong the book.

At least it's off my shelf now. #donation

I truly enjoyed this one.

I realized that I really like stories like this, where a hiker must battle not only their own inner self but also the harsh surroundings of the trails and all that it entails.

Even though I figured out the mystery early on, the writing was so captivating that I just had to keep listening.
The audio was extremely well-done.

I enjoyed this story of female gangsters in post-WWII England, but probably not enough to continue the series. Alice, the leader of the all-female The Forty Thieves, recruits Nell, an unwed mother-to-be, into her gang. After a betrayal that lands Nell in jail, she vows revenge on Alice.

I've seen the movie many years ago, so I knew what was to come.
But even knowing the big twist, I still found this very enticing and entertaining. All the subtle foreshadowing throughout the book, the tiny details one would miss on a first read.
All done masterfully.
