Pickpick

Read for #NonFictionNovember @bookwormjillk #youtubers @BrittaBihler @abookolive but I finished it on December.
This is like a memoir. I was fascinated on information about women who decided to stay single on those times where that decision was not well accepted. So well documented and my admiration for that big step👏These history facts were explained by the author to point out why she decided to stay single⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) I don‘t know to explain that it is curious how and why this author has to explain/justify her single state over and over. Because our modern society still judge this behavior? Because she still needs to accept it? 🤷🏽‍♀️I don‘t know but it was so informative. Didn‘t like as much as I wanted it3⭐️ 2d

Mehso-so

I really wanted to like this, but it was like the author couldn‘t find enough information about the 35 (!!!) women that worked in the Curie lab to make their stories engaging, and so relied on MSC‘s life (which is perhaps better told elsewhere?) and on snippets of chemistry to fill in the gaps. Lack of focus, and the verbatim retellings of slanderous and misogynistic letters/newspaper articles/etc were a bit triggering, too, as a scientist.

Larkken But, look! I finally finished the book I was most looking forward to for #nonfictionnovember 😂 2w
TheBookHippie I enjoyed her daughters book 2w
Larkken @TheBookHippie Oh good! That seems like a good remedy for this book, I'll have to library it. Thanks :) 2w

November was a great reading month! I focused on #NonfictionNovember reading but had to throw in some fiction too. I finished 16 books (one not on the card) and got two bingos. I finished my #BookSpin and #DoubleSpin too. My favorite nonfiction were the memoirs by Lisa Marie Presley and Bethany Joy Lenz, and my favorite fiction was Margo‘s Got Money Troubles.

#TenBeforeTheEnd #6. #52Bookclub24 #MusicalInstrumentonCover. #NonfictionNovember

A light pick for this book about a young man with a certain set of skills who became a master art thief. It was a fairly slow but interesting read. 3.5 🌟

This book is a love letter of sorts to the action film genre, but obviously the focus is the John Wick franchise. As a fan of the Wick movies, it was cool to read about how certain scenes were filmed, all the physical work Keanu does in the films, and how the franchise has forever changed the genre.

Nonfiction November was good for me — a lot of rich and famous along with some regular people from history and present day. I like nonfiction all year but I make it a special focus in November.

#WeeklyForecast. I plan on finishing Piece Like a River. I'm loving it so far
#BookReport after not reading much in October since hurricane Helene hit. I'm finally getting back in the swing of things this month.

For #NFN #nonfictionNovember I read The Foundling and Under the Banner of Heaven (not pictured)

I had three four-star reads and two five-star reads.

I did it!
As in, I finished this absolute tome of a history book and with it I reached my yearly goal of 12 non-fiction books. And there's even a month and a half left for me to add a couple more (much shorter and faster reads).
