Dracula Audio | Bram Stoker

This was a reread for me, so I decided to try this edition, mostly because Tom Hiddleston was the voice of Jonathan. It was bad. I didn't mind that it was abridged, but some of the changes were just stupid, and overall,
it was a bad adaptation.

inthegreensandblues That sucks because for how many people might this be their only experience of the story... I just finished reading this book two days ago. It's so good!! 5mo

AllDebooks That's very annoying when an abridged version detracts from a beloved story. And a fail from Tom Hiddleston, wow!! I listened to the Audible full version and loved it. 5mo

I read this in high school, and I admit I had forgotten most of it. So it was a fun read, and Richard Armitage, who played Thorin in The Hobbit, was a fantastic narrator.

AllDebooks I really enjoyed revisiting this. I'd forgotten how good Stevenson is on atmosphere 6mo

I absolutely loved this book. I'm so glad that I finally read it. Edward Dantes is wrongfully thrown in prison, but after almost 2 decades, he escapes. He then finds hidden treasure and then goes after the people who wronged him 🖤

Repost for @AllDebooks

#Readtheclassics #buddyread

I loved revisiting David Copperfield, a childhood favourite & comfort read. There's something so soothing about returning to familiar words, character & places, don't you think?

As January draws to a close, our next selection will be A room with a view. Starting on 1st Feb. All welcome to join us.

AllDebooks Thank you for the share x 14mo

nanuska_153 I love David Copperfield too, it's one of my favourites but I saw your post too late to join for that one. It's weird, it's a book that left me with the feeling that David and I actually met and I feel that he is a good friend of mine, even when we don't meet that often 😅 Can't wait for A room with a view, I've never read it but I love Forster 14mo
AllDebooks @nanuska_153 that's exactly how I feel too 🤣 I'm excited to revisit Forster. 14mo

Not every story is pretty and this is a perfect example of that. Whilst still has themes that resonated today it's still a difficult read at times. This title has been on banned booklist since it was first published. It's a pick simply because what Tess dealt with all those years ago women are still held to the same archaic standards. Overall I didn't particularly like the story but appreciate the themes and lessons taught. #readtheclassics

RedCurly This cover is amazing and you arouse my interest! 1y

The Count of Monte Cristo is my all time favourite. I love it so much I even have a tattoo. I read it back in high school and I still remember hoe much I loved everything about this book, especially the count's perfect revenge plan. 🖤🖤🖤

RedCurly @FromMyLectory I really want reread it but I never find time. To much new books... 1y
swishandflick My favorite classic! I remember being in the sixth grade, and checking out an unabridged copy from my school library. The librarian was so shocked, told me I was the first student to check it out in 8 years, and told me to keep it. Somewhere through the years I lost track of that copy and it makes me sad! 14mo
