Rough day, but this was an unexpected delight. I hadn‘t been planning on doing April‘s #authoramonth as I expected Edith Wharton to be stuffy/polite/heavy. Turns out not. This short story about a snooty bookclub was laugh-out-loud funny & very clever (but not TOO clever!). I need to go back & read the middle bit again, to peer a little more into Xingu‘s depths.

Will definitely read more Wharton -but might head for Mapp & Lucia in the meantime.

Anna Pigeon can‘t catch a break! Hubs knows she‘s frazzled from her last case, so he takes her on a getaway, but of course it soon turns into anything but relaxing. The story unfolds in a way that paralleled an event in the news at the time, but to say more would be a #spoiler so I‘ll leave it at that. Before I read this book, I thought Terlingua was just a variety of #chilli and had no idea it was actually a town in Texas!

TrishB I read this - then my 16y/o daughter read straight after. I was waiting for when she got to the twist and she literally jumped out of her seat shouting!! Love it when a book does that 😀 8y

Megabooks I didn't like this book because it was obvious to me she wasn't sick from the beginning. Being in the medical field kinda ruined this one. 8y

When I first read this book I was heartbroken by Buffy's death. Rereading I feel more justified with her death, although her actions where not intentionally they were malicious and her death is not the one I am gonna cry about during this reread. #zombielit #miragrant #spoiler
