I‘ve known a handful of harridans 😂😬😅 #weirdwords #weirdwordwednesday

AmyG Don‘t we all. 2w
dabbe I think a few of my students thought I was this, but they probably used an easier swear word instead. 😅 2w

CBee @dabbe oh please! I could never think of you as bossy or belligerent. If you were strict, it‘s because you wanted to push them to do their best! Would‘ve loved to see you in action 😁 2w
dabbe @CBee You are too kind! I definitely was a pusher--in all the best ways, of course! 😘 2w
vivastory 😂😂😂😂 2w
Megabooks Idk. This might be #goals for me??? 2w
CBee @Megabooks 😂😂😂 I don‘t know that I‘d necessarily blame you! 2w

My #weirdwordwednesday pick! I remember discovering this word during a word game - maybe Words With Friends or similar - and always thought it was a bit silly sounding. This little googol mascot guy should have googly eyes, I think 😂 #weirdwords

CatLass007 Another great word! I was listening to Death Comes To Pemberley and decided to look up a word instead of just figuring out what it meant from its context. I actually should have stuck to my habit with this particular word because it was very difficult to find a real definition or even a picture. What on earth did the word jives mean in 1803? 1mo
BookmarkTavern I heard the word googolplex (10 raised to the power of a googol) first when I was in school, and that‘s how I learned about googol. 😄 1mo

CBee @CatLass007 jives? In 1803? Hmm. I have no idea 😂😂 1mo
CBee @BookmarkTavern I should have included googolplex! 1mo
CatLass007 I‘ve heard of gewgaws but not googols. “Jives around the prisoner‘s wrists,” was the quote in the book. Shackles. 1mo
CBee @CatLass007 gotcha. What are gewgaws? 4w
CatLass007 Gewgaws are what I would call “thingies.” I‘ve never actually looked up the definition. As usual. 4w
CBee @CatLass007 I looked it up 😂 Couldn‘t resist. “Gewgaws:
a showy thing, especially one that is useless or worthless.”
4w
CatLass007 Okay, so I was wrong. Thingies are useful. 4w
CBee @CatLass007 I agree! Thingies are very useful, especially when you don‘t know what something is called. “That thingie over there” and such 😂 4w
CatLass007 Exactly!! 4w

Sometimes, you just gotta buckle down and do the work. 💙

#WeirdWordWednesday #WeirdWords @CBee

CBee Oof. But the work can be so hard 😬🫩 1mo
BookmarkTavern @CBee Yes, but the results are so very often worth it! 💕 1mo

This word came up in my last read (Saltwater 🙌🏻🙌🏻). It would be so fun to ride one of these! 😊
Here‘s an article about some well-known funiculars around the world: https://www.treehugger.com/fabulous-funiculars-from-around-the-globe-4863745

RaeLovesToRead I've been on funiculars! There was a small one in Scarborough. The biggest I've been on (I think) was Lake Como. Do you have them in the US? 1mo
RaeLovesToRead Ok the ones in the article are enormous! I've not been on one that big!!!!! 1mo

CBee @RaeLovesToRead we do! Not sure how many, but there‘s one a couple hours from me that I might have to check out! 1mo
TheBookHippie I‘ve been on a few and I‘ve been on the Lookout Mountain one, seen the LA one. There‘s one at our zoo it‘s a riot ! 1mo
peanutnine A funicular was mentioned in my last read as well! What are the odds! These seem so cool, I want to ride one! 1mo
ImperfectCJ The article missed this one, which is the one that taught me the word. (Until then, I just called them all trams, which is clearly wrong.): https://www.quebec-cite.com/en/businesses/funiculaire-du-vieux-quebec 1mo
Bookwormjillk I rode one in Pittsburgh. Kind of fun and scary at the same time. 1mo
CBee @TheBookHippie if you ever ever ever get back down to Chattanooga, you better let me know. I‘m like two hours from there! 1mo
CBee @peanutnine small world! I sort of thought it sounded like a body part - like part of the spine or something 😆 1mo
CBee @ImperfectCJ oooo how cool! 1mo
CBee @Bookwormjillk I want to visit the one on Lookout Mountain now. 1mo
Bookwormjillk @CBee I bet that's pretty! 1mo
CBee @Bookwormjillk it‘s lovely up there! 1mo

My Big Sister Can See Dragons | Rocky Sanchez Tirona

Pickpick

#Bibliophile Day 19: what happens when your big sister can see #Dragons? Big Sister provided a ‘dragon eye‘ technique that consists of rolling up one‘s eyeballs that would allow the dragons to surface in one‘s peripheral vision - yet this young girl simply cannot see them.
