Just reread this to my boys (the picture book version of the amazing YA novel). School starts Monday and this was the perfect reminder to always be kind. Sit with the kids who are alone. If someone looks upset, ask if they‘re okay. Be good little humans. We are all important and special. We all matter. I‘m proud of what nice kids my sons are. 💚💚

Texreader Keep up the good work!! My son is in 8th grade and is still so good and nice. At the end of 7th grade, one teacher told him, if I were your age, I‘d want you as a best friend. It made my heart swell. I hope that‘s your future too! 5y
britt_brooke @Texreader That is every parent‘s dream - or should be. Sounds like a wonderful young man. Great job, momma!! I hope my guys will follow suit. 💚 5y

A great realistic fiction picture book that I would use as a read aloud. It is another version of WONDER but for a younger age group. Would definitely have a class discussion before and after about respecting others and not judging by appearances. Bought this book for my 3 yr old and she loves the illustrations. ELL would include vocab words in native language or a translated version of text. Teacher/student resource #Lae3414spring19

My 6 year old just read this book to me, and like the original, it made me cry. The story and illustrations are beautiful! This was good timing because next week, my sweet boy will begin volunteering once a month with the Best Buddies program at his school. So proud of him! 💚

R.J. Palacio does it again with this NY Times Bestselling F installment of the popular chapter book, Wonder! This beautifully illustrated picture book with impactful text introduces young readers to Auggie, a boy with a unique face, and his best friend and dog, Daisy. Auggie expresses his desire to belong, and beckons readers to change the way they see. It opens the discussion of kindness and empathy in students and is great for RA!

LisaMart Have I mentioned I love this author?! I will read anything she writes! 🤓

Laura.S @LisaMart this looks so cute! I‘m sure if you read wonder to a class they would be super excited to read more books by the same author! Definitely gonna have to check this out. 6y
LisaMart @laura.s It is so cute and perfect for K-2 classes that may not be ready for the actual Wonder novel. And when they do read the chapter book they‘ll be able to make a connection to the character because they have heard of him before. I love the messages Palacio‘s books bring into the classroom. Now more than ever it is important to teach our students kindness above all, and I think her books serve this purpose. Thank you!! 6y
DrSpalding Wonderful post. So many of your peers have enjoyed the novel version. If you have yet to see the movie, be sure to see it. Read aloud is perfect and discussing the theme of inclusion and being tolerant and kind of people with unique abilities, is so important. 6y
AmeliaS21 This looks so cute! I read Wonder for my independent reading. This looks like a great way to introduce kids to Auggie! 6y

Sweet message in a very simple book. Even if you don‘t know anything about Wonder, you can see that Auggie is different, and he helps kids to understand that the earth is big enough for all kinds of people, and we should treat each other kindly.

I hope this is the start of something new! These are the books I'm sending to my nieces for Christmas. I want to be the aunt who always sends the best books, for every occasion.

Bambolina_81 This looks like a great selection. You'd get my vote 😁 6y
Andrea4 Me and my hubs feel like that too! We just picked up 6y
DebbieGrillo @Andrea4 I looked at that one too but wanted to send them each the same number of Books and stay within my budget. Maybe for the older one's birthday in February. 6y

Andrea4 Ah yes, we don't have that issue since our niece is actually of age to enjoy the stories while our nephew isn't even 1 yet. But he'll still get a book too! 😂 6y
AmyG I am vying for that aunt, too. I also bought my niece The Wonder. I read it first and it's a beautiful book. @Andrea4 Rebel Girls is excellent! (edited) 6y
Betty I remember fondly friends of my parents who always sent me books starting with Bobbsey Twins for birthdays and Christmas. They lived in another state. I grew up and started college. My freshman English professor was their daughter! 6y
Pamwurtzler I try to be that aunt too! They all get books. 6y
Reviewsbylola Love it!! 6y
[DELETED] 57804897 Up and Down and Over and Under are big hits with my 3-year-old. You might add Owl Moon by Jane Yolen for the older child, and Owl Babies by Martin Waddell in board book for the younger child to your next shipment. :) 6y

Nute It is my 'auntly' tradition. Any special occasion that mandates gift-giving, all the children in my immediate and extended family know that there will be at least one book amongst the presents. It's my favorite thing to give to young people. 6y

I just wanted to share my only Black Friday purchase this year. We‘re all Wonders was on sale at target, and I‘ve been wanting it so I didn‘t hesitate to go pick it up! I‘m so happy to now own the picture book and chapter book versions of Wonder. Whether I teach upper or lower elementary, I‘ll be able to share Auggie‘s story with my future students! #choosekind 💙

WendyP I have been wanting to read this and asked for this book for Christmas! 6y

"...people can change the way they see. If they do, they'll see that I'm a wonder." This RF picture book is a much shorter version of the New York Times Bestseller and highly awarded novel, Wonder, written by R. J. Palacio, and is a perfect RA, S, RT and AS book. This picture book brings the original novel to life for younger children who are not ready to read chapter books just yet, and it still highlights the lesson that we should always

jvinas2 try to see people for who they truly are, not what they look like. Also, because the novel has been made into a movie, this book can reach a much bigger demographic, especially to those who see the movie and again, cannot read novels just yet. ESOL strategies 10, 16 & 17 and UDL guidelines 2.2, 2.5 and 3.2 would be very beneficial to incorporate before, during and after reading this picture book because clarifying syntax, 6y
jvinas2 illustrating through different media and highlighting big ideas can promote better comprehension and encourage discussions within the class. This link leads you to a pdf file that has discussion questions and activities you can utilize when reading the book: 6y
Beths This is awesome. I read the novel and really enjoyed it. I didn‘t know there was a picture book so thanks for sharing! This book provides such a great message that all grade levels should get to hear this story. 6y

Good morning from my little monsters!
It‘s so early but I can‘t resist when they ask me to read to them. 😄 I love the middle grade Wonder book so I was excited to see a picture book I could share with my kids. They pointed out the things that are different about Auggie but then we pointed out the things that are the same. I love that his differences aren‘t portrayed as a disability. And most importantly, his message to be kind. #raisingreaders

Since reading Wonder by R. J. Palacio several years ago, and absolutely falling in love with it, I had been wondering if she was going to come out with a picture book with a similar theme. Here it is! Hot off the presses this week. While this picture book doesn't capture the depth of the important themes that Wonder did, it does have awesome illustrations and an important message: "Look with kindness and you will always find Wonder." #choosekind

asiriusreader Meant to say, this is appropriate for kids and adults of any age! I'll be sharing it with my 4th graders this coming week. And if you haven't read Wonder yet, read it!! It's such a wonderful story with a heartfelt and true message. 7y
