Land of Stories: Beyond the Kingdoms
Land of Stories: Beyond the Kingdoms | Chris Colfer
Fairy tales are just the beginning. The Masked Man is on the loose in the Land of Stories, and it's up to Alex and Conner Bailey to stop him...except Alex has been thrown off the Fairy Council, and no one will believe they're in danger. With only the help of the ragtag group of Goldilocks, Jack, Red Riding Hood, and Mother Goose and her gander, Lester, the Bailey twins discover the Masked Man's secret scheme: He possesses a powerful magic potion that turns every book it touches into a portal, and he is recruiting an army of literature's greatest villains! So begins a race through the magical Land of Oz, the fantastical world of Neverland, the madness of Wonderland, and beyond. Can Alex and Conner catch up to the Masked Man, or will they be one step behind until it's too late? Fairy tales and classic stories collide in the fourth adventure in the bestselling Land of Stories series as the twins travel beyond the kingdoms!

3✨ This is not my favorite of the series, but I enjoyed traveling through the books of: Robin Hood, King Arthur, Alice in Wonderland, the Wizard of OZ, and Peter Pan. There was almost a wedding, romance, and lots of interdenominational book hopping. I personally don‘t like the hopping around which is why I didn‘t like this one as much. It was very nice getting to see even more characters though.

Just discovered this ability on Bookly! Trying to get situated in my new social distancing and working from home routine - this month I will do better at taking reading breaks!

LibrarianRyan I downloaded this but haven't really used it. Maybe during my #covidvacay i whould give it more chances. 2y

Took up a new hobby- Hoop Weaving! It keeps my hands busy when I need a break from the screen, and I have been #audiocrafting as well. It‘s been very therapeutic and relaxing. Will be hanging these on my wall when completed, as well as picture frames.

Crazeedi Very beautiful!💚 2y

Thunderstorms rolling through and the power went out, so it‘s a good thing it‘s still daylight! Finished this up while listening to the hail. ⛈

Not my favorite in the series, the hopping from land to land felt very rushed and superficial. Still an enjoyable romp that made me want to go back and reread the originals. Don‘t be surprised if Peter Pan, Robin Hood and Oz show up on my TBR in the near future!

SamanthaMarie I actually like this one better than the one that follows. So I'm interested in what you think when you get to the next :) 3y
4thhouseontheleft @SamanthaMarie There were some parts I really enjoyed, and some that drove me nuts (Robin Hood). Although MG with the Caterpillar was hilarious! 3y

I DO NOT do well in crowds. (See my last post).

I‘m usually okay if I go into an event mentally prepared for a crowded space, but I was fully overwhelmed at the wall to wall crowds today (at one of my favorite annual festivals), and had a small panic attack.

So tonight I‘m chilling in PJ‘s (with A/C blasting, it‘s 🥵!), and book time, and later, restorative yoga and meditation. And medicine. Because 🧘‍♀️ can‘t cure everything. 😊

AmyG Hug. I hate crowds, too. 3y
4thhouseontheleft @AmyG Thanks! 💞 3y
DGRachel OMG. I saw CATS! today at Belk Theater and took the light rail from the East/West station into Uptown. I had my first panic attack in more than 20 years because of the crowds on the train. I had to get off at the 3rd St. station instead of the CTC/5th St because I couldn‘t breathe. I practically ran from the train, so I completely feel your pain! {{hugs}} 3y

cobwebmoth Ugh, it must be a bad day for it. I've been having panic attacks all day. I hope you get some relaxation and feel better. *hugs* 3y
4thhouseontheleft @DGRachel It was crazy!! This was my first full on panic attack in about 5 years. Sorry you suffered too. On another note, we really should meet up sometime! Maya‘s going to middle school in Plaza Midwood this year, and is in the school of theater at ImaginOn on Saturday‘s, so I‘ll be in Charlotte a LOT. 😃 3y
4thhouseontheleft @cobwebmoth I‘m sorry. 😔 I hope you feel better soon, too. 3y
Megabooks I am so sorry! Sending healing vibes! 💙 3y
Crazeedi Panic attacks are no fun, and I've had them in crowds, I actually passed out and it was so crowded I kinda slid down my hubby's body. And had one while driving, pulled over thought I was dying. Yep been there, take care. Sometimes only a pill will help 3y
Samplergal I hate crowds too. About once a year I seem to get in a place where it‘s too much without warning. I‘m so sorry you had to go through that. 3y
marleed I‘m glad you‘re home! 3y
JennyM Sending much love 😘 3y
DGRachel @4thhouseontheleft Yes, we should! You‘ll have to let me know when/where you‘d like to meet up. 😊 I hope you‘re feeling better today! 3y

I love all the books so far in The Land Of Stories. I think they are most liked because they are realistic and put a fairytale spin on these books

Another fun adventure with the Bailey twins. This one branches off and we visit other stories such as Robin Hood, Wizard of Oz, and Alice in Wonderland to name a few. More fun characters and voices by Colfer. Finishing this one got me all caught up with my fifth grade reading buddy 💙 4 down 2 to go

This series gets more fun with each book! I‘m really enjoying listening to them as audiobooks. This one had me laughing out loud several times. They‘re middle grade, so the writing is kind of basic, but the stories themselves are fun and full of colorful characters. 👍

IWriteInTheNight After reading your review, I feel like I need this book in my life 😂. 5y
kamoorephoto My son just started them and my stepdaughter has read them all...they may be on to something 🤔 5y
Abailliekaras My daughter loves these! 5y
GypsyKat @IWriteInTheNight @kamoorephoto @Abailliekaras I don‘t know if reading them in print would keep me interested, the writing is pretty simplistic. But I love fairytales and retellings, and these are just fun to listen to. 👍 5y
readinginthedark I was thinking this the other day—they seem like they‘re written to be read out loud! Which, considering the author is an actor and the basis of the books is in fairy tales, is not so crazy. 5y

11-14-17: Book 4 in the Land of Stories series was even more fun than the last three! The Bailey twins got to enter different literary worlds like Wonderland, Neverland, Oz, Camelot and Sherwood Forest, to enlist the help of some of our favorite characters in the crusade against the Masked Man! My daughter loves this series!! 2 more to go! #landofstories #chriscolfer

readinginthedark @josie281 It's pretty good. I like some of the unique ideas and plot lines, but the writing is a bit simplistic, even for middle grade books. The first few were fun; this is the fourth. 5y

A collection of #redwhiteblue spines from our current library stack. My car decided it didn't like our plans to drive and see family, so it will be a quieter 4th of July for us this year. But still fun, and maybe I'll even get some reading done! Happy 4th of July, my fellow American Littens! #redswhitesandblues #jubilantjuly #sizzlinsummerbooks

@Liberty my #FunFriday signed book! Not personalized, because Chris Colfer didn't personalize at his Tattered Cover stop last summer. But I love the silver pen, and it was fun to go with my friend A; the two of us almost-middle-aged fan girls squeed like we were 12 for hours afterwards.
