Wil is a characer was a fresh new character for me. She is fierce yet timid, loving yet reserved. She is a walking contradiction with a world full of doubt and turmoil. She is fascinating.
I bailed on this too. Just don't like how it's written or how the story is playing out.
Week 17: A Fantasy
Reading: The Glass Spare by Lauren Destefano
I literally have nothing to say about this book 🤷♀️ pretty forgettable but not a bad read either
New personal record for most books I've read in a month. 14! I don't think I can beat it.
Favorite book of January: The Glass Spare
Least favorite: Eh, toss up between Mirk and Places No one Knows
Reread: This Mortal Coil

This was SUPERB! I'm already reading the sequel. Well written and fast paced. Often I found myself saying aloud, "Wait, what! How can that happen?" Lol. I started feeling sad for the MC. This adventure is a must read for any YA fan. @LibrarianRyan It's going on my favorite shelf!
(I am having issues with the page count on my tablet. Infographic is not totally accurate).

@Jen_Reads I have not heard of this, but it sounds good, and I am obsessed with the cover! Thank you so much friend! #kindlitsy
5⭐'s. This book was so amazing! I can't wait to read the next book to see what happens next.
The first in a new fantasy duology, The Glass Spare is a gorgeously told tale of love, loss, and deadly power from Lauren DeStefano, the bestselling author of the Chemical Garden series.
New book Sunday! I got this and pre-ordered the next one! So I gotta sit down And read this before that one is released in December.
Good book. I have the sequel on my list to read in Dec. when published. Some of the jacket description is a bit off. She‘s not really a spy for her father, she‘s more like an errand runner for her brother. They should probably use that paragraph to describe the value of her siblings in the family
I haven‘t heard much about this book but omg I LOVED it!! Murder, madness, and mayhem... I can‘t wait for the sequel! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fantasy can be a hit or miss for me, but I loved the characters and the world building in this book.
The middle dragged on for a bit, but picked up at the end. Looking forward to the next book in the series and other books by the author.
Read from May 22nd-June 11th, 2018.
Favorite character-Gerdie.
I liked this one, it has a couple over done tropes but it kept me entertained. I got in back in November in an owlcrate box, and finally got around to reading it the other night, (in about 4 hours before going to bed at 1am..)
The story is reminiscent of King Midas, he's actually sort of mentioned within the story itself, but it had some decent action, and a burgeoning romance I'm looking forward to, along with the fate of the kingdoms.
Currently reading! I wanna say I'm about 100 pages from finishing. I'm enjoying it so far!
I was immediately intrigued by the world setting - medieval politics and buildings, but modern technology. Under pressure of a stressful event, Wil's power to turn anything living into gemstones is activated. After a traumatic use of her power, she leaves her home and goes on an adventure. The characters, story, and romance were all compelling. Looking forward to the sequel!
There are lots of stories like this one out there right now, but this has some really interesting new twists. It‘s clearly the first in a series, which means there‘s no resolutions to be had at the end, but it does make me want to read the next one very much.
The first three books of the year...which means I've unknowingly committed to three brand new series...whoops...I'll just hurry up and wait now...
The Glass Spare by Lauren DeStefano
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
Rosemarked by Livia Blackburne
So much #greed in this book, it's actually hard to believe. The complete lack of parental feelings is really hard to take. Wil's father is just...ugh. Also, the writing is not doing it for me. Positive thought-I'm almost done with it!

The November #Owlcrate box was AMAZING!! I have been wearing the HP hat every time the weather is cold enough, and can‘t wait to try out the Elven soap! I gave M the journal to use for at home writing practice. The book sounds intriguing. #Owlcratesociety
Enjoyed this twist on King Midas, but wish it had been longer to allow for more character development.
It‘s been over a month so I can post what I got from owl crate. This is my first time trying it out and I picked an awesome month. This has been on my TBR list. Love the HP hat and the notebook with a quote from ACOT. It‘s great. The book is kind of a retelling of King Midas. I love the siblings relationships. It was a good pick for the month.
I absolutely loved this book! it's like King Midas but female and jewels instead of gold.
I really REALLY appreciated that the author didn't write a character placing nonstop internal blame for her gift/curse. I loved the Dynamics of the relationship between the cursed Prince and his wife and how Will slid in. Despite not being a very long book, the relationship between the three was built quickly and well.
I loved my November‘s Owlcrate Subscription Box!
The ‘Expecto Patronum‘ beanie sent it over the top for me (being a huge HP fan!) and the ‘Squallers‘ wooden pin from the Grishaverse has me 🤩. I‘m planning to start ‘The Glass Spare‘ (exclusive cover with signed author plate) next year when I do the POP Sugar 2018 Reading Challenge!
I don't understand what is wrong with romance in YA fantasy. I've seen many people complaining about this, but I don't mind.
This is kind of a King Midas Steampunk retelling, I feel like the author has been playing a bit much Dishonored 2. It was a fast read to relax - nothing outstanding and nothing complex, but in this case, I enjoyed it.
✨I can't decide how I feel about this one.. I had a hard time retaining anything I read and was constantly having to reread. Something about it just didn't flow right. I love the concept, but it just wasn't working out for me. It also ends on a cliffhanger, but I feel no obligation to buy the next one. 😔
✨My reading buddy seems to have fallen asleep on me.. 💜📚
New book from #Owlcrate and new bookmark from @DebbieGrillo !💚 So cool, I don't have any other bookmarks like this. Thank you so much! #bookmarkswap I'll be sending out my bookmarks at the start of December.
✨This months OwlCrate theme was Castles, Courts, & Kingdoms!
✨ I'm soo stoked for this book, but apparently it's part of a series. 🙃 (Which most OwlCrate picks seem to be) I'm not sure when I'll have time to read it, but it's on the list!
✨This month's box also came with a lovely notebook, Elven soap, GoT lip balm, and a HP themed beanie! This month also marks box #13 for me! I've loved watching OwlCrate grow and can't wait for more. 📚😍
Anyone else excited for this one? Haven't read it yet but it's one of my most anticipated releases!
I also finished this one today. (Two books in one day?! Total coincidence -- one while driving, the other while eating) Meh. Could've been better. Interesting premise but the pacing was off and IT. NEEDS. A. MAP. #ya #bookclub #teachersoflitsy #fantasy (pic from Google)
#BookMail These next three books I bought myself off booktopia.com.au (AfterPay is a dangerous, temptation!) The Glass Spare not only has a gorgeous cover, the story is very interesting. Wil Heidle is the only daughter of a powerful king, growing up sheltered from the world. Then she‘s attacked & discovers that her touch can turn people to gemstone. At first she‘s intrigued but after a tragedy she starts to search for a cure. Very unique story.💎
Definitely picturing Matthew Daddario as Loom // "A boy with dark eyes & black waves of hair...slender black tattoos wrapped around his wrists & trailed his biceps...There was a tattoo at his throat, too, but most of it was covered by his high collar...his bottom lip was too full and always pouting...she saw the tragedy on his face" #ya #bookclub #teachersoflitsy #shadowhunters
Started off a little promising, but quickly turned lackluster. I'm sure some people will love it, but I'm not one of them. Full review - https://springtimelibrarian.wordpress.com/2017/10/30/the-glass-spare/
Some pretty good releases this week! Did you pick up any new books?
