I found the story to be sweet and endearing, with a few paranormal/fantasy twists. And while I enjoyed the story, it‘s not one that I‘ll be picking up again in the near future. Nor do I find the need to continue along the series, Since I feel that the ending what is enough.

Part mystery, part romance, part time travel. Pleasant to but not my favorite by her by far. The first part sucks you in, and the second just pulls you through. Leaves with tons of questions.

1) expensive ebook that was a pan for so many reasons, most of all: yes, people and places smell, and 👏👏 most stupid decisions made by the MC ever
2) atm, Good Omens
3) muesli with yoghurt; in about 30 minutes 😶
4) Central European Time (GMT+1)

I don't understand why people are raving about this book. Truly. It's as if we read different versions.

Birdsong28 We do read books differently and if you don't like it then that is fine. 😁📚📖 6mo
SW-T I know that feeling! Sometimes you wonder why everyone is raving about a book because when you read it, the hype around it makes no sense. To each their own! 6mo

At 84%!!! Beforehand the lady herself referred to her 16th/17th century clothing as medieval.

Honestly, I think this book wasn't ready for publication yet when it was published late last year.

julesG @Birdsong28 Way too late. Should have stated this in the beginning. ? Wish I could get my money back. There should be a satisfaction guarantee with "over-priced" ebooks. 7mo
Birdsong28 @julesG You can return ebooks on Amazon. You can ask them through the customer service option. But yeh they should come with a satisfaction rating. I only get ebooks if they are either free or £2.99 or less or through Netgalley. 📚📖 7mo
julesG @Birdsong28 I got book 2 in the series through NetGalley and thought I should read the first. Trustworthy Littens had given it pick ratings, so I was willing to spend the 15€. Not even sure I can give it back, Germany has some strange rules. I'd better check with amazon 7mo

Ouch!

Already spotted a grammar mistake and an inconsistency of facts (who told who, what and when), and a tiny thing that bugs me - time travelling to the year 1605 with 17th century folklore information 😕, I'd go for late 16th century information. But, I am a stickler.

Is this a reason for a #HistoricalFictionInaccuracyAnnoyanceSupportGroup meeting?

Also, why oh why can't they edit books properly?

JazzFeathers Did l hear meeting about historical inaccuracy? Here l go! 7mo
julesG @JazzFeathers @GingerAntics @RavenLovelyReads @Birdsong28 @KCorter — it's not a case of inaccuracy YET. I was just wondering, if you knew exactly what day+month+year you are time travelling back to in the past, why prepare using info on the whole century ahead instead of the last 20 to 50 years? 7mo
RaimeyGallant That's so rong. 7mo
julesG @RaimeyGallant They could have got it wright. 😁 7mo
RaimeyGallant Your always wright. 7mo
GingerAntics What do you need all that info for? That‘s not right. 7mo
CoverToCoverGirl Ouch... that is wholly unacceptable! And I‘d like to join your group too! 😎 7mo
julesG @CoverToCoverGirl You're in. 7mo
julesG @GingerAntics It's good to know what you're about to head into, but I would have gone for local information on the area, the year prior to my "destination" and so on. 7mo
Weaponxgirl Ouch! 7mo
GingerAntics Right? You need very specific information and there is no reason not to have it if you know the exact year you‘re going to. If all you have is a general knowledge of when you‘re going to, then yeah, but specific year, get specific with your info, too. 7mo
julesG @GingerAntics She knows date and place, knows who she has to meet,... She could have got soooo much information. At 66% she noticed she should have looked up a few things. *face-palm* I paid 15€ for the book, I need to finish it. But I feel ripped off and I will say so in my review. 7mo
GingerAntics Ouch, that‘s a lot. I certainly would add that to the review. That is just wrong. It took her that long to figure out she should have looked up some things? Then she‘s also an idiot. Eh. 7mo
julesG @GingerAntics can't all be like us. 👿 7mo

My daughter, who returned from a 5 day school trip yesterday, still is asleep. She sprained her ankle and I might have to go to hospital with her. Wish the teacher had taken her to see a doctor, but alas they didn't think it was necessary - her lower leg is swollen, for F-s sake. 😤😤😤

My 3rd book this year with psychometry (feeling past events by touching an item). Best of the bunch—just the right balance between character development, action sequences, and descriptive passages. Love the heroine and the challenge she tackles. Strong supporting characters, and plenty of suspense. Book two (pub date 10/19) on my NetGalley shelf already. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Yep! Especially now! 8mo
Gezemice @Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BarbaraTheBibliophage I have recently read The Woman in White and could not help thinking about Unmentionable. It is essentially a contemporary study of all the ways Victorian women were subjugated. It is a good mystery, nevertheless. 8mo

When I read a few books at a time, I don‘t usually finish them all on the same day. But when I do, I get to pick three more! The left is my current audiobook—interested in her fiction after reading Forensics. The other two are ARCs I‘m trying to get caught up on. The Exile gets terrible ratings ... oh boy ...

After a week of avoiding this book, and having my mood sour each and every time I thought of spending time with it, it is time for me to bail. I just cannot finish. It is not a bad book, or even a poorly written one, it simply just isn‘t for me.

Really struggling to get through this. It isn‘t bad, in fact it is pretty good... but is quite different from the author‘s other books (that I have read, and loved) that I am finding it hard to really get into. Really hoping it picks up soon. (....I am half way through and already stating to think about what I am going to red next. )

whatsthEStorey I‘m listening to this on audio and am just barely slogging through it. I can‘t decide what I don‘t like about it, and the premise is one I would normally enjoy, but it just isn‘t working for me. I have only 3 1/2 hours left & I might bail!! 9mo

YMMV. I found this to be a lackluster time travel/ mystery/ romance /putting your life back together after hard times/ story, but the combination of these elements just made the whole thing muddy, not sparkling. I liked the first third, but skimmed all the way to the end just to see how it all cleaned up.

3.5/5⭐️
This was between a pick and so-so for me. The start of a series featuring a heroine who can connect to past souls through antique objects found in the present. So there‘s time travel (17th century, Marlborough, England), a ghost (not friendly like Casper), a mystery and a tiny bit of romance. A bit slow (I was easily distracted) until closer to the resolution, but I‘ll probably give the next one a try.
Thanks #NetGalley & #StMartinsPress.

Finally finished book 1 of #24in48. This is vintage historical romance complete with a time traveling twist. It‘s old school England on a spring morning, antique knick knacks lining dusty bookshelves, and a theft that leads us on the hunt to avoid historical justice. Classic Paula Brackston! A generous thank you to #netgalley for this #arc. #littleshopoffoundthings

What an amazing book! I absolutely love time travel books and “The Little Shop of Found Things” is a beautiful book, from front to back, literally - the cover is stunning and would have caught my eye in a New York minute, if I saw it on the shelf!

I received this book from a Goodreads giveaway by St. Martin‘s Press and these are my unbiased opinions. See the comments for the rest of my glowing review! 😊

booksbrewsandbooze I love these characters so much! I found myself truly invested in them and wanting to see them happy, a rarity for me when I read. I often like and appreciate characters, but don‘t often root for them the way I did for Xanthe and Flora. Quite simply, I found them to be authentically nice people. 2y
booksbrewsandbooze It was a pleasure to see Xanthe grow in confidence and self-assuredness throughout the book. Kudos to author Paula Brackston for not just telling us, as readers, that that was happening, but showing us. 2y
