Sandry's Book
Sandry's Book | Tamora Pierce
Part of the 8-book Tamora Pierce reissue for Fall 2006, this title in the Circle of Magic quartet features spellbinding new cover art. Coincides with the release of WILL OF THE EMPRESS in trade pb. Four elements of power, four mages-in-training learning to control them. In Book 1 of the Circle of Magic Quartet, gifted young weaver Sandry is brought to the Winding Circle community. There she meets Briar, a former thief with a way with plants; Daja, an outcase gifted at metalcraft; and Tris, whose connection with the weather unsettles everyone, including herself. The four misfits are taught how to use their magic, but when disaster strikes, it's up to Sandry to weave together four different kinds of power to save herself, her friends, and Winding Circle.

I reread a lot, because I love the comfort of knowing how the story is going to end, and I get to focus on different things, and I always find new things every time.

Most often, I reread the Circle of Magic books, the Circle Opens books, and since Dracula Daily started, I‘ve reread Dracula every year.

I love the found family created by these four children and their teachers. I especially love reading about Lark and Rosethorn coming to care so deeply for them.

Bonus points, who is someone you‘d want to work on it?

For me, with every fiber of my being, I want Hayao Miyazaki to adapt Tamora Pierce‘s Emelan books into a movie series. 💖

I disliked this for the first 10-15 minutes of listening, but it grew on me. It was tough to keep the characters straight in my head for some reason. Once I figured them all out, it was a super fun middle grade adventure. I loved watching each character come into their own unique magic. This felt like Avatar the Last Airbender and Percy Jackson crashed into each other.

Yall I love emelan so much, I‘ve read this series dozens of times but I just love it every time. Tamora has been one of my favourite authors since I was a very small child she‘s just lovely in so very many ways.
More specifically to this book though I love the way magic works in this series and Rosethorn and Lark are both life and wife goals. I too wish to live with a lovely partner and raise a handful of kids with the help of a few eccentric men

I love revisiting childhood favorites, especially when they‘re written by Tamora Pierce! She‘s a master of what she does, if you ask me, and I still love this story of magic and friendship. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I Put A Spell On You by Nina Simone

Books about magic or with a cool M magic system

Tamora Pierce is one of the authors that helped me find my love for reading and in this quartet, The Magic Circle, the magic a person uses is linked to something the person does.

4 scrappy outcast children are brought to Winding Circle in Emelan by a mage who, through the use of meditation, teaches them how to harness their individual types of magic. At first suspicious of each other, they ultimately learn to work together just in time to save themselves from a disaster caused by a seriously misguided attempt to magically control the forces of nature.

wideeyedreader I loved these books when I was a kid, glad others like them too! 5y
Carolyn11215 @wideeyedreader, have to start thinking about what tweens I can introduce to this series! Most of the kids in my life at the moment are 7 or younger. 5y

#friendshipbooks #riotgrams

One of my absolute favorite things about Tamora Pierce's writing, and in these books specifically, is the importance of friendship and the variety of that kind of relationship that she portrays.

Friendships between older characters, younger characters, cross-generation friendships. Friendships between men, between women, between men and women.

Book 2 of my #FreakyFriday reads finished! This is definitely not the type of book I would normally read but I'm glad I gave it a try. I don't think it's for me, though. I did enjoy the way the children eventually came together and it might be worth trying the next book, just to see. Maybe next month. Not bad at all, just maybe not for me.

The Magic in the Weaving | Tamora Pierce

Catching up on day5 #readingresolutions 😊
These few #bookmarks are very special as they are made by the aboriginal people of my country, the Mah Mehri tribe. The art of weaving is passed down from generation to generation. Men carve while women weave pandanus (pandan), nipah (palm tree) and mengkuang (screw pines) leaves into household items, ceremonial items, ornaments and even toys, each with a fascinating myth behind it.

#anditsaugust #comfortreads I have suffered from depression for years. An early sign of an impending episode that I learned quickly is that I lose all interest in reading and writing.

A while ago, I found Mark Oshiro, who reviews books, movies, and tv shows, knowing as little as possible about the material.

Watching him read and enjoy the books I adore has helped me through some of the worst patches of my life. @RealLifeReading

After taking a few days off to celebrate hitting my #GRchallenge2017 goal ??, I am diving into the #Emelan books, which I've never read. (I was 16 when this first book came out, already a committed #Tortall fan, & "too old" to read a new #YA series. What a sweet summer child I was; you're never too old for good #YA!) My summer job doesn't allow for nearly as much reading time so I'm making the most of my two daily hourlong bus rides. #camplife

litmuggle Talk about a throw back I've not read one of her books since my school days. 8y

Ignore book two is a different cover. Used book shopping means I would rather have a whole series over matching sets at times.

Ya'll, I have been waiting WEEKS for this day! #favoritefriendships I read this whole series every year, the series that really got me hooked into fantasy. These books showed that horrific and awful things could happen, that adults could sometimes save you, but that sometimes you had to save yourself. Watching the friendship grow between these four people has been one of the best reading experiences I can remember. #booktober @RealLifeReading
