Just finished listening to Stockard Channing narrate Ramona and Her Father. She does a great job telling the story. Reading this made me wonder at the end if the children in our church‘s Christmas Pageant felt the way Ramona felt about it. I hope they did! #8 #BookSpinBingo #3 #BFC22 #ReadMyRoom #JUMPSTART2022 #SERIES2022 #20in4 #Pantone2022ColourChallenge Popcorn #Wintercosy

1. All Ramona Quimby books or Nancy Drew books reminds me of my childhood.

2. I mostly read historical fiction, and the ones I choose are typically set in other countries.... but a bias, per se.... just what occurs.

Thanks for the tag, @RamsFan1963 and for not giving up on me. I've not been on social media... Same with @DarkMina for keeping the faith. Wanna play?
... and thanks for @TheSpineView for creating these. 🖤

It‘s been so fun reading these, loved it! Ramona is now in second grade and her family is going through some tough times but through her usual charm and perseverance she gets through it all.

This book highlights Ramona‘s special relationship with her father. He lost his job and that really changes the Quimbys‘ lives. Plus, Beezus and Ramona start a campaign to get him to quit smoking. (Anyone who has ever quit 🙋🏻‍♀️ would know how difficult it would be to quit AND have the stress of unemployment.) But he does quit. 👏🏻👏🏻

Anyway, I‘m continuing to enjoy these! Definitely would still recommend them to families #raisingreaders!

The hilarious RF novel titled, Ramona and Her Father written by Beverly Cleary and illustrated by Tracy Dockray is a perfect IR for your 3-5th grade students. In this Newbery Honor book, readers can follow Ramona on her hilarious journey to try and make her father happy after he loses his job. Ramona and her family are just normal people going through normal life events. #UCFLAE3414F19

Camrynm The EL strategy I would use would be 9: Teach note-taking strategies: T-lists, time lines etc. The students could put the events of the book in order on a time line so that they keep the book organized. The UDL principle I would use would be 2.5: Illustrate through multiple media. This principle would allow students to create illustrations of the events in the book. 5y
Camrynm This is a very helpful resource where students can create a story map: https://www.teachingbooks.net/clp.cgi?master_id=5641&lf_id=9 5y
DrSpalding Story maps aid comprehension. Another thoughtful post. 5y

After finishing this with my 6 (soon to be 7) year old, we need suggestions please!!! We started The Wind in the Willows, but she‘s not into it. We have read Charlotte‘s Web, The Little Prince, the Ramona books, a my little pony chapter book, 102 Dalmatians, and The Fantastic Mr. Fox and other short stories by Roald Dahl this year. Help!

This is an excellent book for children whose parents are going through or have gone through a divorce. I think the reason I like the concept of this book so much is the fact that Ramona is set on helping in any way that she can rather than being upset the whole time. This is amazing for a seven-year-old girl.

Probably the books I'm most sentimental about are Beverly Cleary's Ramona books. These are the first books I really remember reading on my own. (These are the covers I remember.) I have re-read a few in recent years, and they still hold up! The author said the time period in which they are set is "childhood." So true! #sentimentalSunday #literarylove

There are so many books that hold memories for me, but perhaps most beloved from my childhood are the Ramona books. I couldn‘t resist taking a pic of them on my children‘s book shelf for today‘s #memory prompt for #readingresolutions! A couple of other childhood favorites snuck in there at the side...

1) probably the tagged book collection because I would say that's when I came into my own as a reader. These were books I picked out myself and read myself.
2) Benjamin Franklin will always be one of my favorite historical figures
3) Flaky people as well as purposefully rude people.
4) I'll always be tagging @sprainedbrain this month. How about also @Readergrrl

Book 13 of 2018 and book 1 of #ThrowbackReadathon 📚 I started out with an all time favorite. I always checked these out from the library as a kid and Ramona will always have a special place in my heart. Anyone else remember that old Ramona tv show? I checked those out on VHS on a constant rotation too!

My most #sentimental reads are childhood favorites that I now get to share with my kids. Seeing my son fall in love with the Ramona books has been a parenting high moment. Haven't introduced him to Anne and Heidi yet, but can't wait to share those as well. So this amazingly narrated (Stockard Channing!!!) audiobook featured all 8 of the Ramona Quimby books, which I can't remember if I had read as a child or not. Obviously a bit outdated, but it was refreshing to hear problems real families face: limited money, job loss, etc.

DGRachel I loved the Ramona books when I was in elementary school! 7y

One of my favorites in this series - it addresses real issues - Ramona' father losing his job and how that impacts their budget, his mood, and family dynamics. Ramona and beezus attempts to get their father to quit smoking. I think it is a rare children's book that deals with economic hardship in this way. Also delves into the relationship between Ramona and her dad and how children are still loved even when bratty. #kidlit #classic #readaloud

Tomorrow would have been my dad's 63rd birthday...he died very unexpectedly of a brain aneurism at age 53. I loved listening to him read aloud. He always read my sister and me bedtime stories when we were young. The Ramona series was one of our favorites. I miss him terribly. 😞This is a picture taken of us on my 21st birthday. (He hated pictures, he was always the one behind the camera.)

Alma I am terribly sorry for your loss, may his soul rest in peace. And stay strong, I know it's not easy at all ... 8y
