"City of Bones "is a Shadowhunters novel. When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. And she s more than a little startled when the body disappears into thin air. Soon Clary is introduced to the world of the Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of warriors dedicated to driving demons out of our world and back to their own. And Clary is introduced with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is almost killed by a grotesque monster. How could a mere human survive such an attack and kill a demon? God, I just love the #Shadowhunters books. Clary is so brave from the jump, and the worldbuilding is incredible, if a little exposition-heavy for a first time reader. It's so weird going all the way back before the TMI squad became Our Heroes, too! #yafantasy

Clary Fray is just an average, normal girl, or so she always believed, until one night she witnesses a murder no one else can see. She soon discovers “all the stories are true”- werewolves, vampires, faeries, and demons exist. And what‘s more, she‘s descended from a line of Shadowhunters, half-angel warriors sworn to protect humanity from evil forces.

BooksNBowls After her mother is kidnapped, she must join forces with a band of misfit Shadowhunters in order to discover the truth about who she really is and get to the Downworld in time to save her mother. 7mo

Diving back into the #Shadowhunter world! According to my Goodreads, I read this series 8 years ago! I‘m hoping to finish it this time around. If you‘ve read Cassie Clare before, which order did you read the series? I‘m debating on which way I want to go this time! 😁

I join in #ShadowhunterSunday Challenge on Instagram. Today's prompt is #shadowhunterstack.

Didn't set out to have 3 Copies of COB. When I ordered #LitjoyCrate gave away hodgepodge of Shadowhunter books. Kept 10th Anniversary because it's so pretty. Paperback is part of Boxed Set. Love the covers. It's my Travel Set.

My favorite Character Magnus Bane who throws Birthday Party for his cat: "Chairman Meow deserves my every effort.”?

laurenduke300 I named my cat Chairman Meow and I blame Magnus. 8mo

🙌 😃 😍 😱 This was incredible!
We stood in a 4+ hr line to meet Cassandra Clare & have the book signed! She was super sweet! She signed: Cassie Clare, SO CUTE!! She wrote both our names because we only had one book at the time. LOL 😂 We almost didn't make it. They closed the line in front of us, we were about to cry, but we didn't leave. After a lot of people left, she said: Let them in, & she signed our book. She won my ❤ PERSISTENCE people!

A re-read for me, but I struggled with it. I was reading this books the beginning of the month 😳The first part was quite boring for me, with Jace so arrogant. But in the last 200 pages (my edition is large print) I saw more action, intrigue, magic. Imagine, I own almost the whole series, I‘m glad I liked it at the end☺️3.4/3.5⭐️

WOW this book was so good! Those twists at the end were so unexpected and it takes skill to have all of those and not make it sound like a soap opera. I especially enjoyed the vampire motorcycles. I thought it was a funny concept. I have to say though, the author got a Star Wars reference wrong. even so, 5🌟

A classic supernatural/fantasy type story with the consistent tag line that "all the stories are true" which made for an interesting reading experience. There were 2 major twists in the story that had my jaw on the floor. I finished this one and IMMEDIATELY started on the next in the series

1)(A soon to be one of my favorite authors) Yukio Mishima is a pseudonym for Kimitake Hiraoka
2)Yukio Mishima, honestly, Yukio is an actually a male name in Japan
3)I would...but I'm leaning more towards finding out for myself if an author is using a pseudonym

Honestly I should‘ve been done with this book to already, but been too busy comparing and contrasting with a movie and the TV show. So far the movie seems to match better, and the TV show seem to have took in a lot of liberties. Of course, as of right now, the book is so much better.

There is also a bit of romance in this and what I loved most is that clary never hesitated to stand up to that person and call them out. Most of the time when there‘s romances, the female characters is shrunk a little bit. But clary never lost her fiestyness and herself. I liked that.

Overall I loved this book and the characters. I can‘t wait to continue on my reread and finish the rest of this series.

I have been putting off this book for the longest time and only picked it up because the #popsugar reading challenge prompt to read the book that‘s been on your TBR the longest. It was all the things I feared it would be - cheesy, predictable- but in such a charming way that I‘ve fallen in love and the series has become an instant favourite. It‘s my new go to comfort read and I have now hogged all the library copies of the rest of the books 📚😋

So I read this book when it first came out when I was 19. I really liked it then. I picked it up when I was in my mid-twenties and couldn‘t finish it. I decided to give it another try this month (I have been in a reading rut not being able to finish anything I started) and let me tell you I devoured this bad boy. I have never read the rest of the series & can‘t wait. Thanks Cassandra for getting me back into the groove. Just what I needed. 🧛🏻‍♀️

Tattooedteacher These books were soooo good. 2y
Puredragonstar @Tattooedteacher yeah I‘ve really enjoyed the first hope the rest are similar. You know it reminded me of the show Charmed kinda. Demons, vampires and angels it really feels like it belongs in that world. Very nice. 2y

Clary Fray believes she is a normal teenage girl, until her fifteenth birthday that is. She begins seeing unexplainable things like something out of a fantasy novel until it is finally revealed to her, that all the stories are true. She is thrust into the world of the Nephilim, otherwise known as the Shadowhunters, humans with angel blood tasked with secretly protecting the mundane world from demons and monsters.

CharlotteCormier However, Clary isn‘t the only one having her world turned on its head. The Shadowhunters face the return of the merciless cultist Valentine- who was thought to have perished along with his organization. And to make matters worse, he has kidnapped Clary‘s mother, Jocelyn, who the Shadowhunters claim to be Valentine's wife. 2y
CharlotteCormier Clary‘s world is crumbling beneath her, hopefully, her Shadowhunter companions can aid in her quest to rescue her mother from Valentine, and adjust to this new beginning.

If you like books filled with fantasy, wit, and intensity, then I highly recommend starting the Mortal instruments to indulge your imagination.
2y
CharlotteCormier The POV (point of view) in this novel is classified as a third-person linear perspective. This is because the narrator uses “he, she, they” pronouns, however, is not omniscient. While it is told in the third-person, the story still follows Clary and is privy to only her thoughts, emotions and observations.

I saw a tiktok recently that said TMI started out as a Ron/Ginny fanfic... and I just 🤨

Why?

MidnightBookGirl It was a Ginny/Draco fanfic. Although she did write a Ron/Ginny fanfic, but the actual TMI books are based on the Draco trilogy she wrote. I think the Ron/Ginny fanfic just shared the name. (edited) 2y
erinachu Wait, I draw comparisons between he two series ALL THE TIME (most notably the Valentine/Voldemort thing). Is this real? 2y

I need help!
I just got bookshelves put together for all of my books and um getting them all organized (which feels great) but I am not sure how I want to organize my Cassandra Clare books. Do I do it chronologically by story (ie infernal devices then mortal instruments) or chronologically by publishing date (ie MI then ID)....or alphabetically by series title?

Too many options!!

Bookworm54 But then ID is in the middle of MI! It‘s very tricky. I wish you luck ☺️ 2y
