Tuesday Mooney is a loner. She keeps to herself, begrudgingly socializes, and spends much of her time watching old Twin Peaks and X-Files DVDs. But when Vincent Pryce, Boston‘s most eccentric billionaire, dies―leaving behind an epic treasure hunt through the city, with clues inspired by his hero, Edgar Allan Poe―Tuesday‘s adventure finally begins.

This was a fun and quirky story: Tuesday, a woman in her 30s, and her gay BFF encounter a wealthy man who dies shortly after their first meeting, leaving a widow, a trail to clues for them and others to follow to reach a vast treasure...and also an unsolved murder.

@quietjenn Thank you so very much for a wonderful swap. I opened it yesterday because I was heading to Michigan and took a picture. I love the Queen of Books bag…it is my makeup travel bag now! The books are great and I love the light, pad candy and Dunkin Donuts coffe is a favorite. Thank you a million.

quietjenn I'm so pleased that you like it! It was fun hunting down things I thought you would like! And please don't feel bad about mine! It's totally not on you, just one of those unfortunate things. We've had snafus before (things getting put at the wrong door, etc ) but they usually right themselves pretty quickly, which is why I kept hoping it would show up. 14mo

Eh. It had such promise. It just tried too hard. I was not sure who i was supposed to be cheering on, what was really going on, and the game was poorly described. 😐 i almost DNF, but i pushed through. Savior character was the best friend.. loved his quick wit and snark, but towards the end, i even started rolling my eyes at his storyline. Giving it 2 🌟.

I have a tie for my June favorite though: The Institute by Stephen King. Since I chose a book once by him already in 2022, I default to this one.

This could have been great but the plot lost momentum, the characters were ill-defined set pieces, and there were too many storylines.

I‘m done but I don‘t think I know what happened?
A rich guy leaves a scavenger hunt for people to win his fortune after he dies but there are 2 people pretending to be the same person and potentially a murder and potentially a massive new find for the art community and potentially a love story and potentially a real ghost but not the ghost of the scavenger hunt guy or the potential murder. Someone please read this and tell me if I‘m just dumb.

✔️ This is my first book for my #BigJuneReadathon goal. 1/7

🔎 This book was a fun combination of a mystery, supernatural, coming of age, and humor story. And bonus points for a gay main character. Everyone in my book club loved it and I did too. (Rarely happens when we all agree)

I can see why this one made your best of 2021 list, @erinreads (and your best of 2020, @monalyisha ). It has great pacing from start to finish and a “finding your people” theme that always pulls me in. The characters are quirky and cool. I‘ll be recommending this to others too! #NYWD22

I got off to a confusing start with this one. Based on the cover art & a comparison to The Westing Game, I assumed it was MG or at least YA. Nope. I came across two main characters in their 30s…and as one of them met his boyfriend at a bar, wondering if he was going to be proposed to or get dumped, I realized I needed to re-evaluate. 😂 Once I figured out the intended audience, I really enjoyed it! ⤵️

BarbaraJean It‘s a fun puzzle/treasure-hunt story, with deeper issues going on with each of the main characters. I loved its focus on friendship & connection, as well as coming to terms with past grief. The puzzles took a back seat to the character growth, but I didn‘t mind that at all. 2y

Tuesday Mooney is a prospect researcher, preparing dossiers on potential donors for hospital. At a charity auction, one of the wealthiest man in Boston, drops dead. He‘s left behind a legacy and instructions for a wired treasure hunt.

Racculia has crafted a fantastic story: part adventure story, part puzzle quest, part ghost story. Wonderful characters I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Fun! Loved Tuesday, Dex, and Dorry. A great trio of characters and a mystery in a mystery. And maybe another mystery on top, I don't know, I lost count, but I had a good time!
Kind of expected more ghosts, though.

I started off liking this book and I liked the idea of it. Maybe I didn‘t know exactly what was going to happen with this book, but I ended up not caring towards the end. It got very unbelievable.. all of the different POVs and the random thoughts all the characters had, going on tangents were weird. I don‘t know, it just didn‘t mesh well together for me.

So excited for @monalyisha‘s fabulous book list for #NewYearWhoDis! I couldn‘t decide what I thought I could realistically finish in January because I want to get to them all. 😂 The tagged book is the first new-to-me book that I plan to start with!

Also, two are already technically on my #BookSpin list for December (Take a Hint & Disappearing Earth), so I might actually get a head start on the list since I was already planning on reading them.

monalyisha Ha! I love the excitement! Kate Racculia, author of Tuesday Mooney, is just so cool. I wish we could be IRL friends. If you‘d like a gentle nudge toward any particular title, Thornyhold was the one that gave me the most unexpected reading pleasure. monalyisha @erinreads OMG YES. Honestly, I might like that one even better. And, while Tuesday Mooney is in no way a sequel, one of the characters from Bellweather Rhapsody shows up in TM. Not to give you *more* books to read...but if you can, read that one first! 🙈 It was on the #NewYearWhoDis list that I gave to @MeganAnn 3 years ago. 😆 3y
MeganAnn @monalyisha @erinreads Yes! Bellwether Rhapsody was fantastic! I still think of that book three years later and I‘ve borrowed it to so many friends! 😍 I haven‘t gotten around to Tuesday Mooney yet, but this is a good reminder that I should. 3y

A murder mystery, a ghost, a fabulous best friend, mysterious love interest, and precocious young side kick - all the ingredients for a fun story! But Kate Racculia does more than that - she opens up the characters and reveals their souls in moves which make you fall more and more in love with them. A masterful telling of a bonkers adventure!

I was shocked to finish this book & see so many “so-so” reviews. I mean, I GUESS I get it. Are Kate Racculia‘s books exquisitely plotted & seamless? No. I suppose not. But have you ever read an author & felt like they just GOT you? That‘s me with Kate. We share *sensibilities.* She‘s a little bit spooky; she‘s funny; her characters are a bit introverted & weird; her books are set in & around Boston. Simply put, I adore her & all of her words.👇🏻

monalyisha 1/1: Towards the end of this book, which centers around a bajillionaire eccentric‘s mysterious death & the Poe-themed treasure hunt to inherit his fortune, Lyle Price (his vivacious widow) asks, “Is anything ever only one thing?” Racculia‘s books aren‘t, & life surely isn‘t, & this is basically my mantra; I was so thankful to hear it echoed in this wonderful, quick-witted & quickly-read novel. 4y
