I was obsessed with What Katy Did as a kid - which maybe was a weird choice (certainly no one guessed who I dressed as for book week) - so was excited to see Katy & the famous five bookmarks from a stall whose whole thing was upcycling old books into booksafes, sculptures & these bookmarks!

The Aussie Christmas cards are from another maker and I‘m feeling more and more like it‘s time for Christmas 🤪

Katy Carr is one of the most beloved heroines of children‘s fiction. I get something new from this story every time I re-read my battered old copy.

I don‘t think I can give this a fair review. I enjoyed it up until the aftermath of Katy‘s accident and things got very Christian-moralizing, which does not sit well with me. I thought I read this as a kid, but none of it seemed familiar. Very similar to Rebecca, Anne (and the eventual neighbor family), Pollyanna, and probably a whole slew of others. Not my favorite, but fine. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I haven't been tracking my time for this round of #24b4Monday but am trying to read the first four books in Susan Coolidge's Katy books. Finished this one last night and am almost done with the second - 245 pages so far!! I also need to reread The Mysterious Affair at Styles for #agathachristieclubr2 !!

Weekends are always busy, but everyone has time to a #24B4Monday #readathon !! This weekend I am hoping to finish the omnibus of the Katy Carr stories - I just started it this morning. My volume has four full books in it. Checking on Goodreads, it appears there's actually a fifth book! I may have to track that one down for future reading...

I missed the official challenge (since I was asleep) but I still wanted to make sure I participated. Now that I‘ve been an official adult for several years, my parents have finally told me I have to get my boxes upon boxes of books out of their house. This one, is one of the oldest I have pulled out so far, I think I‘ve had it since I was 8 years old?? Still haven‘t read it, and really should! #24in48 @24in48

My sister bought me these two Folio books for my birthday and they‘re both gorgeous.

Sorting through a box of old books and found these - cute covers! They'll be from the early 1980s but unfortunately the paper is too brown and crispy to have them out - at least I can post them on here before hiding them away again!

It's great! Sorry I cant say much.

Finished this yesterday, enjoyed it much more than I thought I would! The earlier chapters have very funny moments, Dorry's journal is hilarious! It's less fun after Katy's accident, as she becomes tediously good, but it was interesting to read as an adult and realise how privileged these kids were. When I was a kid I had a few of my mum's old children's books and one of my favourites was What Katy Did at School, even though I never read any of the others in the series. Am working my way through the 'What Katy Did' series and this book started it off delightfully. The copy of the book I have is illustrated and that was a joy too. 😄
