#InDeathLongReadalong #IDLR Ch.16-end/review: I was right about the killer - but only because there were not very many suspects this time. And he did have a flare for the dramatic. I liked this addition to the series especially Eve navigating Christmas and more complexities in her relationships. Was it as intense as the previous book? No, but they can‘t all be like Vengeance. This one built on that book and moved things forward. ⬇️

StayCurious We will next read the novella Midnight in death and I will post the reading schedule tomorrow. 2mo
Librarybelle I agree—not as intense as the last one, but we continue to see Eve grow. 2mo
LiseWorks I love this one. I still cannot figure out why Peabody doesn't like McNabb but he sure has a crush on her. 2mo
TheAromaofBooks @LiseWorks - I feel like Peabody's grudge against McNabb is a little over-the-top at this point. I get that he was kind of a jerk to her when they first met, but it feels like he's proven himself to be a useful and reliable member of the team since then. 2mo

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! I really enjoyed this one! It was super intense, but I loved the bits with Eve doing her Christmas shopping, which kind of lightened up some of the darker stuff. 2mo

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I‘m actually quite glad there are a lot of these books. Since we skipped last month I realized how much I missed the characters and I‘m looking forward to more crime solving with the team.

#InDeathLongReadalong #IDLR Ch.10-15: Sorry for being gone the last two weeks. I didn‘t fall off the face of the earth, I was on vacation and it ended up being way busier than expected. I will finish this book tonight and post the finale tomorrow. My main takeaway from these 5 chapters was the ick factor of the twins‘ relationship- not only is it incestuous, but Piper is majorly controlled by her brother. ⬇️

StayCurious Eve is constantly dealing with events that hit too close to home - but I suppose it‘s difficult in her line of work to escape. She and Roarke are handling themselves well in this book and Eve is being a good friend to both Peabody and Nadine. I have my suspicions as to who the killer is but we‘ll see tomorrow if I‘m right. (edited) 2mo
Librarybelle No worries! I hope you had a great time! I had suspected the twins‘ relationship, but it was still icky to have it confirmed. 2mo
LiseWorks The twins' relationship surr reminds me of the Game of Thrones lol 2mo
Read4life I agree with the ick factor! 2mo

An intense holiday read! Eve not only has to navigate her first Christmas with her loved ones, but a killer using Christmas spirit is taking out people linked in one specific way. We see more of Eve‘s constant battles with her past abuse and her desire to live a happy life. At times heart pounding, another good entry in the series. #InDeathLongReadalong

LiseWorks I'm glad you liked this one. Thanks for joining us. We will have an update as @StayCurious is on holiday and is quite busy with visiting her sisters in Vancouver. 3mo

#InDeathLongReadalong #IDLR Ch.6-10: I love how Roarke is getting all excited for Christmas and is trying to establish family traditions and I like how Eve is forced to work with her worst enemy - Somerset - in order to get him a gift. Peabody gets a makeover to go undercover and McNabb is pissed - sigh, he‘s so smitten. But he‘s being a jerk about it. ⬇️

StayCurious The killer is killing rapidly, but is foiled by a giant arena ball player - thank goodness he was there! But now the killer is looking for his next victim more aggressively than ever. How will Eve stop him from finding his next true loves? 3mo
Librarybelle I‘m enjoying this one too. I think it‘s nice that Roarke wishes to create holiday traditions with Eve…it‘s so good to see Eve continue to grow and become open to traditions and also feel safer around her special friend/family unit. 3mo
LiseWorks I think McNabb is just being protective of "SheBody." It's great that he, too, will be undercover to kind of look out for her. 3mo
TheAromaofBooks I'm thinking this theater tie-in has to be Eve's break somehow, especially since “Santa“ likes to ham it up for the camera. 3mo

#InDeathLongReadalong #IDLR: it‘s beginning to look a lot like Christmas as the year 2058 draws to a close. And someone very twisted is killing women while dressed up as Santa! Eve and Peabody are on the case, with Mcnab‘s help - much to Peabody‘s annoyance. It looks like a connection btw the two victims is a dating service run by In Death‘s version of Game of Thrones twins (ick). Meanwhile, Eve still needs to do her Xmas shopping - ⬇️

StayCurious But what can she buy for Roarke when he literally has everything? And what about the rest of her little circle of friends - which has grown since last Christmas for sure. I‘m excited to see what happens next - a great start to this one. 3mo
Librarybelle Can I just say how much I loved the cosmetic counter scene in chapter 5! I laughed out loud. This is shaping up to be another great book! 3mo

LiseWorks Yes, this one shows how Eve takes opportunity with her shopping. As Peabody gets annoyed. Lol. " You are shopping!" 3mo
LitStephanie The murderer's method of getting into the victims' homes is total BS. Who flings open their door and invites some stranger dressed like Santa into their home? But otherwise, I am enjoying Eve's general attitude toward Xmas and the exchanges between Peabody and Mcnab. 3mo
StayCurious @LitStephanie yeah I totally agree! I‘d never let some costumed weirdo in. 3mo
ShananigansReads @LitStephanie I thought the same. I wouldn‘t even open my door let alone invite someone in. 3mo

I think Eve made the biggest personal growth in this book so far in the series. (Book #7) Her relationships continue to develop and strengthen in all areas of her life. Throw in a well written mystery and this book is a solid pick for me.

Trigger warning: incest, rape

Not my favorite of the series, but better than the previous one. I really don't care for the narrator of the audios, but it was the only way I could access this one. I think it would have been much more enjoyable in print. ⭐⭐⭐1/2

Dallas & Peabody investigate when a murderous Santa starts picking off his victims in the run up to Christmas.

A good read even if the subject matter is a little grim at times. The plot flows nicely, there‘s the odd injection of humour, & Dallas/Peabody continue to be one of my favourite partnerships. 4🌟

TW: mention of incest, rape, violence & murder.

I found this to be much more satisfying than the last two in this series so things are looking up. I don't know why, but I'm so fascinated by the whole futuristic police procedural angle 🤷🏽‍♀️

Also, today's reading spot in Bermuda certainly didn't suck 😍

Overall another great In Death book. I am dropping the rating to So-So purely and solely for the last scene between Eve and Peabody. I was disappointed in Eve and her reaction. Still love the series...
