Confessions of a Bookseller | 
pickI‘m a definite fan of curmudgeonly Shaun‘s chronicling of life in his Wigtown bookshop. I read them out of order (this is book 2 and I‘ve read 1 and 3), but enjoyed them all regardless.

pickTo be honest this one wasn‘t super exciting and a little hard to follow sometimes. However, I really enjoyed the audio version. The day-to-day narrative was much more interesting when read by someone with an accent and I found it so soothing it made for great bedtime listening. Yay for Libby‘s night timer!

She had longed for the stretching Scottish summer evenings, when the sun sets at 10 p.m. in June, rather than soon after 6 p.m. for most of the year in those countries.

I still find the combination of hot days and early sunsets disconcerting. It makes the evenings feel very late even if it's only about 7 pm
I worked in a bookstore briefly in my early twenties. While there I learned the trick of using an art gum eraser/cleaner to remove sticker residue from books. I‘m not sure what particular brand mine is (pictured) since the name/logo has long been rubbed away, but it works really well.
Tagged memoir was a fun read. Looking forward to his newest, Remainders of the Day.

pickI enjoyed this book more than Diary of a Bookseller. The author Shaun Bythell seemed to put more of himself into the narrative and I felt more invested in the people he included. This makes me really want to visit Wigtown and its surrounding area.

I am a sucker for a book set in a bookshop and with this book I get bookshop cosiness and bookseller confessions all told in Shaun's engaging and humourous manner. I loved reading about what goes on in bookshops and all the types of customers you meet and the requests you get. A must read for booklovers ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
pickI enjoyed this second volume of Shaun‘s diaries. It is perhaps more contemplative than laugh-out-loud funny like the first volume was, but it is still very good. It is one of those “I‘ll just read one more entry...” books where you end up having finished the whole book 😂
Checking in for days 2 and 3 of the #CYOReadathon. I finished Confessions of a Bookseller yesterday and finished Pride and Prejudice on Serial Reader this morning.
Today the plan is to continue with Remain in Love and perhaps do some more audiopuzzling with The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. My new Serial Read will be Mansfield Park (which I think is the next #PemberLittens book @sprainedbrain ?)

I was excited to read this book as I love books about books and bookstores. I enjoyed the first part of the book and all the interesting characters and the books that were mentioned. I think the author needed something more to be happening in order to make the book more exciting. I finished the book but it seemed more like a chore.
