I loved this chapter: “Mix Two Unhappy People Together and You Get Happiness”
I believe this happens a lot. #ReadLesMis

1) Baked a Maple Pecan cake yesterday…sometimes you just NEED cake
2) Pippin‘s favorite toy is monkey man which is almost as big as he is
3) I am loving Les Mis chapter a day
4) After surviving reading Lark Rise to Candleford, rewatching the series on BritBox makes it all worthwhile
5) We haven‘t had much snow but I‘ve loved watching it fall.
Share your joys! It helps combat the barrage of daily 💩 we get.

Oh, my heart goes out to Fantine!
Running behind- nursing my sister in KC after cataract surgery, now in Dodge City helping my daughter with her 5th child 🩷 Little Hazel Anne. Will keep reading as I can! I‘ll eventually catch up!
It‘s interesting that the French novels, Les Miserables and The Count of Monte Cristo have several elements in common. #ReadLesMis

Well, I just completed Fantine. I have no words and found myself filled with the conflicting emotions which were expressed throughout this section. So, I‘m continuing to read, I loved its message and conveyance of thoughts, feelings and difficult life events that are commonly experienced but we seldom discuss. #ReadLesMis
She has felt everything, accepted everything, experienced everything, suffered everything, lost everything, cried over everything. (This 🥺)#ReadLesMis
It‘s getting depressing over here with Fantine. I am trying to keep going but I skimmed ahead a bit and saw where this was heading. When I start doing that, it‘s not a good sign. #ReadLesMis
I‘m a little behind, with work, grandkids, and driving to KC to nurse my sister before and after cataract surgery ( yesterday). This 5 page chapter with NINE pages of notes took me 2 days!
As Hugo writes, “Yet these details wrongly called trivial do serve a purpose. The features of the years are what the face of the century is composed of. “

I finally started on my reread of this novel. I first read it in high school - we got extra credit if we read the unabridged version and I flew through the entire thing on Spring Break. Several years ago, I bought this translation for the cover and then bought a second copy so I wouldn‘t have to flip back and forth to the end notes. 😂 #READLESMIS
A new day was dawning and it‘s soft light was settling over his life and over his soul. He felt like he was seeing Satan in the light of paradise. #ReadLesMis
Part One: Fantime, Book 2: The Fall, Chapter VIII: The Deep & the Dark
is this chapter a metaphor of
drowning in the sea 🟰 Jean Valjean‘s despair?

“True or false, what is said about people often has as much bearing on their lives and especially on their destinies as what they do” 🤔 #ReadLesMis
I am surprised at how much was left out of this version and it was not acknowledged as being abridged. Or maybe the new translation is more explanatory. It surely is significantly more understandable and enjoyable. #readLesMis

Made it to the second part of Les Miserables. #ReadLesMis
Pleased we‘ve got to the next part after examining the character of Monseigneur Bienvenu in great detail.
How is everyone else doing?

My book finally came in the mail! Starting this #chunkster for #READLESMIS I‘ve always wanted to read this, and there‘s no better way than with a #buddyread with fellow Littens! Hopefully I will catch up soon!
I‘m loving Monsignor Bienvenue. He is giving, kind, and insightful.

Succumbed and on New Year‘s Day decided to join the Buddy Read of Les Miserables. #ReadLesMes. Let‘s hope I don‘t regret joking this year long Buddy Read. 😳
Read the first bit in the early hours so think I‘ve met the first 3 or 4 characters. We possible need a link to the characters as they are introduced, so we can keep them right.
What I find strange is how it says he was Bishop of D______. I wonder why he did it like this.
@thebookhippie
And, the year‘s #ReadLesMis begins!
I love my edition, with the red ribbon bookmark (hopefully I can keep it away from my cats). ❤️

Thanks for the tag, @TheSpineView. 😘
1. My reading goals this year are NOT to have any reading goals. I've been way too angsty these past few years with trying to track, not keeping up, bailing ... whatever. This year, I want to let reading take me on its own journey.
2. I'm looking forward to being able to FINALLY make it through LES MISERABLES after failing at it three times. The Broadway musical doesn't count. 😂
repost for @TheBookHippie:

@Cuilin reminded me I wanted to reread this for 2025 and I do! It‘s a chapter a day FOR the year! Let me know if you want to join! I‘ll tag ya! I‘ll post the schedule monthly and post a discussion thread monthly.
I can email you my print out from my group in 2020 of the whole year if you want it. social@bookhippie.com
Chunkster reading is my favorite 😂♥️🤷🏻♀️🫠
1. Off the top of my head, I'd say my great-grandmother's cast-iron pot. It was a wedding present, and therefore is at least 120 years old. I still use it.
2. Les misérables. There are lengths and digressions, but the core stories still resonate with people today, and I have no doubt that that will also be the case in the next century.
Thank you for the #Two4Tuesday questions, @TheSpineView
