Loved Winnie-the-Pooh series. I had a cat named "Pooh Bear" in my 30s. Lovely tabby and an angel ? ?

I have never before read Winnie-the-Pooh series so I finally thought it would be time to read them through.

This was the third kn the series and includes poems. The two first books were stories.

These poems were nice, some were really brilliant but most of them were just okay in my opinion. I think stories were more “my thing“. Maybe I thought these would be more thought-provoking than they were.

Very quick poem book. It would be great to read to your young children or elementary children if you are a teacher. It's also well illustrated. I don't usually read books of poems, but I have to say I enjoyed this!

"We had sand in the eyes and the ears and the nose,
And sand in the hair, and sand-between-the-toes."

Another gorgeous day. I can hardly move, I'm so tired. Julian has started talking to the characters in his books, which I think is a skill we can all learn from. I am about to dive into my book before sleep... Unless it keeps me up!

These poems are fabulous! They are very entertaining for both kids and adults. We had such fun listening to them in the car!

"If you were a bird, and lived on high,
You'd lean on the wind when the wind came by,
You'd say to the wind when it took you away:
"That's where I wanted to go today!" #3

I am *loving* this book of poetry!

Today was full of travel and nature. We went hiking at our favorite state park, enjoyed the lodge, thought about alligators, manatees, strange birds, and Spanish moss. We then drove to the ocean and jumped in fully clothed!

I've enjoyed my audiobooks so much recently that Julian has started showing interest in listening to his own. Good thing, too, since we'll be traveling in a few days! The little guy was receptive to hearing the poetry and we worked together to understand it's witty connections and humorous lines.

Do you guys have any audiobook recommendations for a 3 year old?

tpixie Great idea! 3y

1. That is a hard question! Tigger is not my favourite of Milne's characters but I bet he has lots of fun. I could use some of his zing!
2. Indeed I do! We get snow in May. We get snow in September. And every month in between. Although it doesn't usually last very long.
Thanks for the tag @Centique!

I would read this book to 2nd and 3rd graders. Its a little more complex than other poem books which makes me think it would be better for older elementary kids. This book is great for their ages because it also shows great pictures for the kids to look at.

This is a poetry book. The images in this poem's book are great for children. The children are able to see a sense of imagery through the pictures. The pictures help create an image of what the story is telling.

In the book of lots of P you will come across a poem titled “Halfway Down“ this is such a great poem to use to introduce not only an author study but also poems by A.A. Milne in general. I have grown up reading his children's poems and have enjoyed them so I would love to bring some of them into my classroom one day as well. The UDL I would use towards this is 1.3 because of how unique his poems are on paper. #UCFLAE3414F19

haleyklein The ESOL strategy I would reference is 50 to incorporate different ways of comprehension! 5y

It has language that appeals to young children. This also is the book that spawns Winnie the Pooh, so it‘s interesting to see how it develops. It also talks about children‘s activities which is relatable to young readers.

I loved this book of a poetry when I was a kid. I read this and Now We Are Six many times and had many of the poems memorized. My son loved it as well. I hope it was a good introduction to poetry for him. We read several before bed each night and he said it calmed him.

Are there any children‘s authors you appreciate more as an adult than you ever did as a kid?

I‘ve become very interested in A.A. Milne‘s work and life as an adult. I love Pooh. I don‘t remember being a fan as a kid but now I adore the simple sweet wisdom of his character and am interested in reading everything A.A. Milne has written.

Independence is something we all yearn for when we are young. However when we're older, the innocence of our youth looks far more promising than independence.

This classic P book contains forty-five poems that only occasionally veer toward the infantile vocabulary characteristic of children‘s poems in the early 1920‘s. It was an immediate best seller and a great quick read!

I am not a big poetry person but this was my absolute favorite book when I was a kid. This is a 1940's edition reprint given to me by a family friend upon my brother's birth in 1989. It is well-loved and I can't wait to share it with my daughter when she's older. #poetrybooks #augustphotochallenge #day19
