Inspired by the author‘s own family history, this historical novel that tells the story of two women, a mother and a daughter, who are connected by a family secret and a grand estate in Cornwall. The book alternates between two timelines: Cornwall, 1913 and Cornwall, 1940. Secrets of Nanreath Hall is a book about love, loss, family, social class, and war.

A little behind, but real life got in the way... I enjoyed this #nanreathread. A tale of mother and daughter told in separate times one during WWI and the other during WWII. I enjoyed Anna‘s story more than Kitty‘s, but both were told well.

Nanreath Hall has its share of secrets. With a dual timeline, Rickloff looks at the inhabitants during the 1st and 2nd World Wars. A little long in parts, but the hint of mystery and the writing style kept me going. Overall, I liked this. It‘s a historical fiction that‘s a quick read.

My first #BuddyRead completed and enjoyed. I admit I read ahead a bit, but since I annoyed all of my classmates doing that throughout school, I guess it‘s just par for the course. While not my typical read, I enjoyed this character-driven family drama, and the similarities and differences between the two historical eras (the two World Wars). Finished this last night! It was really good and an interesting story following a mother and daughter.

Oh and I saw this sign this morning. Haha.

I‘m almost done! I took a much needed break and got a massage this afternoon. I also tried Cupping and the therapist showed me how it worked on my arm, which is where the funny mark came from.

And shortly I‘m heading off to see the Mr. Rogers documentary. A good end to the day.

I just finished December's http://onceuponabookclub.com experience and it was amazing. The book was great the gifts that went along with it were phenomenal - the amount of detail that went into making them seem as if they came directly from the book was just astounding. I've been glowing about it for days and I am dying to post spoilers (don't worry, I'll restrain myself and wait a few more weeks... but not because I want to 😂)

This book was good! Glad I received it in my #OnceUponABookClub box! However, the items in the box are not such a pick (review that in the next post). I really like the way the overall story was told, and I really liked Katherine's story in particular. I may actually revisit this one (not typical for me in this genre) in the future.

Overall this is a pick but teetered on so-so if I'm honest. It seemed a little slow at times. I liked the alternating timelines between mother and daughter. The story was made more interesting with the gifts in the #onceuponabookclub box. This was my first box from them. I'll give them another shot but really not sure I'll continue after that.

Once I got into this I finished it way too quickly.

Covers the English home front during WWI and WWII. This book reminds me of Downton Abbey. When reading the Author Q&A at the end of the book, she says that the show did inspire her. I liked the alternating storylines. This is my first completed read for the #LitsyAtoZ challenge. #bookishmarginalia

I fell in love with this book. Everything about it was perfect. I am so sad I finished it so quick!

I've just started this (it was the http://onceuponabookclub.com December book) and so far it is fantastic. It doesn't hurt that I'm a total sucker for anything WWII related and this has hints of both WWII and WWI plus a spirited Earls daughter fighting for love, and a level headed nurse dying to know more about her mysterious mother.
