What are you reading today?
I‘ve got more than a couple books to catch up my reviews, but I really liked Malice! I love supporting women‘s wrongs, and honestly: good for Alyce. I also love a good sapphic reimagining of beloved fairytales, so for any fans of the Lunar Chronicles who wished it was just a little more gay, here you go.

I don‘t have a review up yet bc I fell behind on the website this month BUT there‘s Halloween stuff at Michaels and I‘m so ready for #scarathlon2022!! All of the Halloween swaps!! It‘s spooky girl fall now, I don‘t make the rules.

Talk about addictive, I couldn't put the book down and was immensely sad when I finished it. Looking forward to reading the second book.
This Sleeping Beauty retelling had its slow moments, but it was quite creative and fun and the fabulous ending more than made up for it. I am looking forward to the second book of the duology which comes out in May.

Book 2 complete
Hey Littens... Sorry I was MIA for the past couple of days. We took a trip to Albany during a snow storm on Friday and we had to end up staying there for the night. So we did some shopping. These are a couple of books that I picked up for myself.

I didn‘t love this book to begin with; it was slow to get going and not immediately gripping. BUT this book got better as it went on and ultimately I became completely engrossed. This is meant to be a villains story and the author doesn‘t shy from that. She doesn‘t minimise the villainy of Alyce and the final act is very satisfying but she ensures we understand Alyce, that we go through her story and villain development with her.
For #June #12in2021 I had to pick four again - all of these were just so good 😅 #6thbookof2021
Malice is a retelling with a queer twist and I cannot wait for the sequel. I loved the first book.
Tipping the velvet took me back in time and really opened your eyes to the struggles of queers in show business.
Patience and Esther is a fab sapphic graphic novel
Written in the stars has my new fave trope - fake dating 🤣

Can I just say you have skills your wrapping was so pretty @MeganAnn @MaleficentBookDragon
@MeganAnn you spoiled me and I feel so blessed. Everything is perfect for my #JolabokaflodSwap the handmade chocolates smell delicious and the Malice book was my top book I hoped to get for Christmas this year. Everything else is just excellent. @MaleficentBookDragon
This book was beautifully written. My problem was the romance. Mostly that it wasn‘t my cup of tea. Not that it‘s not necessarily good cause for some people it is. Just not for me. Otherwise I would have finished it.
So I‘m doing these fairytale retellings and truly enjoying how each author puts their spin on these well known stories. This is a Sleeping Beauty retelling and I have to say I‘m a fan. Dark and twisty and I loved the ending. Looking forward to the next book.
This book was okay. I liked it, but I just wanted more. I felt so much of it was predictable to the point I was rolling my eyes at some parts. It was a very fun and different take on the tale, but I just wanted more and wanted to be more surprised. I hope the next book offers more than this one did. Still a good read tho if you like re-tellings! 2.5/5
Thanks for the tag @TheSpineView !
1. What a tough question! Sometimes? It is such a difficult thing to describe when a title catches my eye. There doesn‘t seem to be a consistent thread I could point to.
2. Sleeping Beauty but make it queer. ❤️🏳️🌈❤️

#nowreading I haven‘t posted here in a long time. I usually just check out what everyone else is reading to get an idea of what I want to read next. I miss doing #litsyswaps and was thinking of signing up for one for Halloween.
A clever & fun retelling/inversion of Sleeping Beauty. A fantastic mixture of the old with the new & some incredibly creative twists. I'm not sure I've read many books where I've cheered for bad things happening. The writing was smooth & character centered, creating a cast that was very full-bodied & believable. Evil graces, devilish subplots, several layers of betrayal, an animal companion, & a semi-secret romance. Lots of good fun to be had.
This is great as an #audiobook. It's a retelling of Sleeping Beauty with the evil fairy as the lead character. I guess she's probably only a fairy for Disney. But anyway... So Alice is different from everyone around her and she has powerful magic hidden within her. And then she falls in love with the princess and I look forward to seeing where the next book goes.

I liked this book, but the ending infuriated me and broke my heart. Can‘t wait for book 2 in the duology.
A sapphic retelling of a Sleeping Beauty.
A retelling from the villain‘s POV is difficult to pull off, and Malice really succeeds here. Alyce deals with microaggressions from her fellow Graces and institutional constraints placed on her because of her magic. The entire realm believes her to be evil and monstrous. And she just wants to belong.
And the ending! Fast paced and intense! Just enough cliffhanger to get me stoked for book 2! 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
Happy #PrideMonth ! 🤎🖤💕❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Whatever benevolent bingo spirits exist in the universe must be smiling on me. I might actually get a bingo this month! 🤞🏻
Definitely worth the read, thanks for the recommendation random Barnes and Noble employee!!!!! 💜
I really loved this book! The writing was so beautiful and the worldbuilding was epic! 💕📚👍 Now I have to wait for the next one as I cry buckets over that cliffhanger of an ending! 😭
I've been saving this book specifically to enjoy during my staycation! It's a sapphic retelling of Sleeping Beauty! 😍💕📚 I started it this morning, and I'm honestly loving it so far. The writing is gorgeous and I love this magical, corrupted world the author has created- and I haven't even gotten to the romance yet! Also, I'm enjoying it with some tea, bacon, cheese and crackers, and a croissant! 🥐🧀🥓 Yum!
A Sapphic based YA retelling The Sleeping Beauty tale. A dark enchantress falls for the Princess Aurora in this story while a civil war erupts in the kingdom in this first book in a YA series.
Book mail and bubble tea! 🙂💕📚
Fans of Wicked and Maleficent will be reading this with a *chef's kiss*...actually, make that a *true love's kiss*. This debut fantasy retells the familiar fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty, recasting the role of Prince Charming with that of the villainous femme fatale. Cons: it‘s too long, needs more editing, and is clumsy and cartoonish in places. Pluses: the grisly girl-centered magical system and a second half full of surprises.
