Is there anything Dolly can‘t do?! I started reading this one when I was on a road trip in the US, including a visit to Nashville 🤠 Picking it back up to finish it now and wishing I was back there, just minus the creepy stalker!

Good. Interesting story and concept. Felt like I was in the heart of Nashville and listening to the music first hand. Could see Dolly's influence especially with the character of Ruthanna. Even though I enjoyed the story I felt like it was building up to something bigger than what happened and the build up was forgotten in places so the pace got lost. Also it felt rushed in the last few chapters.

Before I say anything else I have to say I‘m a HUGE Dolly Parton fan. Her music her philanthropy her generosity her soul. And the 150 million books she has donated worldwide. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️That said this book is not good. I‘m gobsmacked at how poor this is. Sorry Dolly. I still love your music

I wanted to like this more than I actually did. There just felt like something was missing to make the whole thing come together. It also seemed like there were moments when nothing was happening. I did enjoy the way it was narrated with all the different voices for different characters, I don't think I've ever listened to an audiobook like that before.

My mom wanted to walk around Goodwill today, and I got a really good $8 haul! Four like-new hardbacks, including Fiona Barton, Jennifer Weiner, Allen Eskins, and DOLLY PARTON (in TN?! That's a FIND). Anywho, I was excited 😬

So in my opinion Patterson is very hot and miss.

The story was great, and I was entertained all the way through but the book didn't really do anything to separate itself from other books like it. Still give it 4 stars

For fans of Dolly Parton, you will immediately hear her voice coming through with all of the tidbits about the life of a music legend. That was what I really enjoyed most about this novel. The thriller aspect is actually quite minimal, focusing more on the rise of a new voice in the music business. Overall a solid, quick read that was fun and entertaining.

It took awhile to get into, but I liked it. If Dolly Parton hadn‘t been listed as an author, I wouldn‘t have bought it.

I admit it, I am a Dolly Parton fan! Love her music and love her as a person. Always upbeat, kind to others, a philanthropist…I picked up this book solely because she was involved in it‘s writing. I‘ve never read a James Patterson book. On it‘s own merits…it‘s a ‘so-so‘. The mystery isn‘t compelling and it feels more like a Hallmark movie. However, Dolly‘s voice and personality come off the pages and I truly enjoyed it.

I've been listening to this on my drive to and from work and lunch breaks and finally finished it up today. The predictably was both satisfying and disappointing but I really enjoyed Dolly's parts and she was 100% RuthAnna in my imagination. Overall, a soft pick for me. 🎶🎤🎸

Who doesn‘t love Dolly? Had to check this book out. Very entertaining and lots of fun Nashville references. A predictable premise: a pretty, feisty, resourceful heroine seeks her big break in Music City while running from her past. But it‘s a diverting, easy read with Dolly‘s fingerprints all over it.

Ehhh. Extremely simplistic writing. Characters weren‘t well developed, even mildly irritating in their one dimensionality. The thriller elements were sort of scotch taped together and didn‘t always even make sense. I love Dolly, so I finished. All the song writing was phenomenal. The rest was barely tolerable. Sorry to say!!

When one of my favourite authors co writes a book with one of my favourite singers of all time, I just had to read it. An enjoyable thriller I found myself caught up in the world of a country music singer trying to get her big break whilst also hiding from something ominous in her past. Well paced and everything a James Patterson reader would expect. I couldn't help but hear the lyrics being sung in Dolly's amazing voice.

Oh no. No, no, no. Another day happy that I have never supported this white man who doesn't even write his own book but hires a team of ghost writers he gives zero credit to.

What a great read! In my head Ruthann‘s was Dolly herself. I just heard that they are making it into a movie! Stayed up and read the last 100 pages late at night.

This is light-handed on the thriller aspect. It‘s definitely more focused on the story of the up-and-coming country music star and the inner workings of the country music business. But I enjoyed it! I don‘t think I‘ve ever read James Patterson and I‘d check out some of his other books. I don‘t like country music but I ❤️ Dolly Parton so much that I listened to the accompanying album! And she‘s the reason I bought the book!

Ollie helped me hide rocks for other hikers to find as we listened to the tagged book and we found this little hermit crab rock while we were at it 🦀 I was hoping there would be some music in this one but not yet..

It says this is a thriller. I definitely wouldnt call this a thriller.
It built up for 400 pages for the ending to be a few pages and a total let down. The build up was a lot and it really kept you in the dark. Youre not even able to guess whats happening because theres no explanation and no names to characters so youre expecting this big bombshell at the end and it just fell flat. Felt almost rushed. It got me out of my reading slump though!

Haven‘t read a James Patterson book in a hot minute and this one didn‘t disappoint! I could definitely hear Dolly‘s voice coming off the pages.

Book #28 for 2022. I LOVED this book, it's good and the whole I am reading it I can see the movie version. Highly recommend

While I enjoyed it, my last impression was how simplistic all the words & dialog was. Weird right? Like as I'm reading it I know I could have handed it to my elementary aged kids and they would have had zero problems pronouncing the words, though the ending would have been a bit much for them. I am intrigued enough to go hunt down the songs now.

I don‘t read James Patterson, but I can‘t resist Dolly Parton. That‘s good bc this is mostly about the business of country music. You can really tell those are Dolly‘s parts of the book. The thriller aspect is only sprinkled in. The MC, AnnieLee, is stubborn to the point of annoyance but still I wanted to see how things turned out, and what her secret was. Ruthanna, the Dolly stand-in, was fun. If you liked the show Nashville you will like this.

Exactly what you‘d expect in all the best ways! It‘s a bit light on the thriller and heavy on the rising country star but Patterson injected enough of himself for this to not be too sparkly. The biggest disappointment is that Patterson doesn‘t make an appearance on the album 😋

This was less thriller-y than other JP books. Still an entertaining read though. There is a main character who is absolutely based off of Dolly Parton.

AnnieLee‘s journey to stardom is full of grit and lucky breaks. I appreciate how stubborn/strong she is. Though she gets in her own way a few times. I am not a country music fan, so it was fun learning more about the nuances of the genre.

I loved the Dolly Parton narration. My only hang up was that is moved a little too slow for me.

I‘m a huge Dolly fan so I just had to read this. I got sucked into the story of aspiring country music artist AnnieLee Keyes and her struggles. I think people who are reading this more for James Patterson might be disappointed because the thriller aspect was only about 5% of the story & was almost anti-climatic. But I loved the rest of it. I can see Dolly‘s hand all over it so it seems like a legit snapshot of trying to make it big in Nashville ⬇️

I struggled so much with this book. James Patterson is one of my must read authors and I love Dolly Parton. I was so excited when I heard about this book and I really wanted to love it. However, it fell short with me. Overall the story was okay. The characters were okay. The plot was okay. It was just okay for me. I found myself very disappointed that it wasn‘t all I wanted it to be and all it was hyped up to be.

I‘m reading this and it‘s not all that great. I love Dolly and I know this is probably an unpopular opinion 🥲

Overall, it was kind of slow and the thriller parts were definitely not where it shined. It reads more like a contemporary with a splash of romance & some thriller-like moments. The narration was fantastic, though. Personally, I was there for the romance and I would‘ve liked the focus on that much more. If you ask me, this could have been so much better if DP had partnered with an author who specializes in romance, like CoHo instead of JP.
