It‘s been a minute since I‘ve had the time and mental wherewithal to do a single sitting read. This isn‘t great literature but was sufficiently creepy and fast-paced to keep me glued to the screen today. Thankful I finished it before sunset. 👍🏼

I don't really know what it means, but COOL lol
My longest book was Run Time at 520 pages. I usually avoid big books, but I'm glad I read that one. I loved it!
When you finish a book seconds before your life implodes, what do you remember? Well, that‘s me this morning, and I remember this book but my feelings are all mixed up in LIFE. I gave it 3.5⭐️. Not my favorite by her, but okay.
Good news is we are hiring help for my mom and dad. Bad news is I‘m exhausted, but friends are coming through with holiday dishes, so we‘re very blessed. Hopefully things will improve from here. 💜
This is a book about a movie about a book..lol. Adele is an actress who is cast in a movie set at a remote cabin (no phone/wifi) about an author who wrote a horror book in the cabin. Adele begins filming the movie but quickly realizes that this film might be more real than first thought. A fast read that you better not read when you are home alone ;)
Book 98📚 3.8⭐️
A book about a movie about a book😵💫😂
I enjoyed the script aspect to this book, helped keep the pace up too!
77% through and so eager to see how this ends!
My first trip to a salon since 2017, a surprise gift from my husband for my first mother's day 💕
Reading with wine while my hair dye sets 😌
Okay, this book is legitimately scary, and I DO NOT scare easily. I'm impressed.

Yes, this book is THAT level of meta 😅 I'm actually really enjoying it, though.
TGIF 🎉
This book has a story in a story in ANOTHER story. It features a novel within a movie script within the book itself. I'm betting that would be a bit annoying for some readers, but I'm ok with it so far, maybe because I'm a former film student with novelist aspirations lol
Always finding creative ways to get my reading in these days 😅💕
LOL First page of the script the characters are filming. This has some serious student film vibes, and I say that as a former film student!
Not sure how I feel yet about the story within a story format 🤔
The road is narrow, the edges of it crumbling, as if losing its battle to hold the tree line back.

This Irish horror has been on my TBR for a couple months and today seems like the perfect day to start it.
Adele is an actress who desperately needs an acting gig so she accepts this last minute offer to be the main star in a horror film being made in an isolated Irish forest. Things happening in the script begin to happen to Adele. I really liked this! A large portion of the book is Adele by herself as she experiences strange phenomena & I could see where that would be a turnoff for some. I was surprised by the end & I liked the way it wrapped up!
I love CRH, but this is her weakest book. The book in a movie in a book idea sounds good, but since each reflects the others, it gets repetitive and acts as it‘s own spoiler. The writing is propulsive, as I would expect it to be, but there are no surprises here.
The premise of this book really intrigued me and I expected it to be a lot more interesting than it was. I felt like it dragged a bit and maybe had missed potential. While I didn't guess everything, a lot of it was predictable and just too darn slow and flat. It wasn't bad enough for me to dnf, but it isn't something I will be telling others to read.
Hopefully something will start happening any second now ...
A really good twist and turn book. Loved the character and the parallels in the book and definitely was not expecting the ending!
This is a story, within a story, within a story. Adele gets the starring role in a horror film - everything is a bit off - the on and off screen stories start to mimic one another - the ending felt a bit rushed, but still very good read. The tension starts to build pretty quickly and does not let up until the end -

Make a great day everyone - ❄
Adele hopes this role will reopen the door that had been closed on her-and revive what was once a promising career, but things seem “off” about this production right from the start. This was a fastpaced tension filled thriller where real life starts to mimic the screenplay. Was this film meant to be a found -footage style horror movie-like“The Blair Witch Project”ten years too late to be relevant?I was enveloped in the creepiness from the start.
I think Catherine Ryan Howard is creative and brilliant, but this is just “okay.”
In multiple meta situations, the characters mention that creators should write the book (or make the movie) that they want to read (or watch). Does Howard want to read something this daunting and meta? I found myself skimming a bit here.
I have really enjoyed all of the Catherine Ryan Howard thrillers I‘ve read (I still have Liar‘s Girl left) and she always comes up with a clever gimmick. This one is a book with a movie and another book woven in. It isn‘t my favorite of hers because there was both a lot and not much happening at times. There is a section that ramps up the anxiety level, so I‘m giving it a low pick. I will still read everything she writes!
Another thriller that's a book within a book, within a movie this time. I've really enjoyed other reads by this author, and this was a pretty good thriller but not as good as her others.
All of the plots and stories became a bit too much in some parts. Howard does deliver some great creepy moments though.
Enjoyable, not great, so overall a low pick for me.
I loved her other books so bought this one as soon as I heard of it, but my expectations were too high. This one about an unemployed actress asked for a role in a horror movie set in the woods of Ireland, is too far-fetched for me and in the end not that interesting.

This is the best thriller I've read in awhile. Just as there are several stories going on, the twists keep adding up. The novel is well placed with a lot of thrills. There are sections where suspension of disbelief is necessary, but it's a well put-together thriller. 4.5 stars.
The plot was overly complicated sometimes and there are so many plots within plots! But overall a good read with the authors usual twists and tales!
There are some genuinely creepy bits that I wouldn‘t recommend reading in a cabin on your own in the woods 😁

Started this one on the bus this morning.
Even though I posted about this one a few months ago, for some reason I had it in my mind that it wouldn't be released until Sep. It comes out Tue! I know where I'll be heading Tue after work. Looking at my calendar I see that I have only one appt on Wed. Might need to take a half day!
Catherine Ryan Howard's upcoming book. Pub. 8/16/22. I recall Howard speaking about this during a Q & A for 56 Days. Inspired by an anecdote her brother, a professional actor told her about filming on location, it seems like a meta horror-thriller. Clocking in at over 500 pages it might be her biggest one yet. Can't wait!
