Began in Belize last year and finished on Hilton Head Island 🏝️ Pratchett‘s books are my favorites to take on vacation!

This one got a little too geometrically metaphysical for me. However, still overall enjoyable. My favorite parts - You, B- the camel 🐪, Teppic‘s time in the Assassin‘s Guild school 🔪, and his ancestors. (Why is there no emoji for mummies??)

Librarybelle Such a pretty setting! 8mo
mabell @LeahBergen @Librarybelle It was! And it‘s funny how getting up to see the sunrise is something I would never do at home, but it somehow makes sense on vacation 😆 8mo

One more book read in November…book two in the Inspector Barnaby/Midsomer Murders series. How delightful! You can just feel how exasperated Barnaby is at times when questioning suspects - John Hopkins does an amazing narration! If you‘re a fan of the TV series, I highly recommend the book series! #192025 #1989

The cast and crew of an upcoming play are under suspicion when the playwright is murdered. This is a good installment in the Inspector Lynley series but the real star of the story is his partner Detective Sergeant Havers.

Double review: One book by #Czech writer - set in France, and one by American author - set in Prague.
I‘m not Milan Kundera fan, although I find his books good, especially on the level of the individual sentences, but his overall writing style is too philosophical for me … and this book isn‘t exception. In this story he is playing with the idea of personal/intimate identity, the identity of partner/husband, how perception can reverse with the … 👇

Simona … doubts, and how the brain can creates its own reality. So-so for me 🤷🏻‍♀️
In Defenestrate we fallow twins (brother in sister) and their search for identity heavily burdened by a religious mother and by family legend(s) about the different ways of falling … the story slowly unravels through vignettes when at the end realisation hits hard. It was pick for me.

Oh dear. This is the first book by Krentz that I didn‘t really like. Granted, it is book 3 in a series, and I have not read the first two, but it‘s way more sci-fi than her other reads, including her Arcane series. The arrogance of the male main character bordered on domineering and controlling, and I really did not Bond well with the female lead. It did serve as a good distraction while doing house chores, though! #19822022 #1989

This slim book reads like a typical Latin American story without the magical realism. It may be the Portuguese influence still present in #CapeVerde.

Anyhow it is a nice read about life and death of a humble man who, despite his successful trade business, leads his life mostly in solitude. He leaves behind a remarkable testament.

⭐️⭐️⭐️: A memoir about a period of time during Wolff‘s adolescence. At times, gripping and eloquent but ultimately disappointed that it ended in the middle... was their a sequel? How did he go from a troubled youth to a successful author? #Memoir #BookToFilm #1989
